- Here we have a stunning classic Mercedes G wagon classic car or Geländewagen.
This is a walk round video & buyers guide, what to look out for when buying a classic Mercedes G.

You are right. Biggest issue is rust, Yours look so much better than my 1989 W460 SWB 230GE Auto Petrol. It was a UK car and a complete rust bucket. That was in 2018. Now in 2024 I have an originally Japanese LWB W460 300GD auto. That truly has no rust! So much better. (and so much more expensive to buy!)
Fantastic! thre JDM imports will be the best by far. The motoring laws in Japan are very strict and the cars are generally in great condition and rust free
That’s stunning. Definitely original paintwork and original seating and upholstery. One of the best examples I’ve seen.
She's a real Beauty! ;)
Wow thats how a G should look! Very cool
Super cool car.. On its way to www.thatsclassic.co.uk soon
Yea mate it is the original shade of G wagen. I just bought the same thing in 5 door. Work in progress. Your rig is nice.
Oh cool, we weren’t 100% sure. Nice buy!
PS: very nice video!
Thank you very much!
G'day mate. The gear positions on the transfer box are as follows. Bottom left (S) 2wd high. Then you go forward to 4wd high (SA), pull it over to the right for another 4wd high (SA), then you can pull it back, go through neutral (N), to get to 4wd low (GA)
Thats great to know! So many options.. Are they popular in Oz?
@@ThatsClassiccars I wouldn't say popular (as the cost of maintenance and shipping parts to this part of the world makes ownership prohibitive), but there's definitely a dedicated following, including an Australian owner's group. Most Aussies would prefer a 79 Series LC, for the reasons mentioned above.
That’s original paint, had an identical one back in 2010… someone has pimped the interior and lights but otherwise…
Well it’s 2wd until u put it in 4wd, that’s your centre locking diff and then those two small levers are the front and rear locking diffs. Result is they will go over anything in SWB…
Great thanks for the info! It would be quite the capable off roader!
The vehicle colour is an original colour.
That’s good to know, do you know the colour code by chance ?
100% that vehicle has done quite a bit more than 61k !
Judging by the condition, I think it could be original miles!
The Large version is much nicer!
Yeah but this is the cute version
STOP PUTTING BACKGROUND MUSIC
🤣🤣🤣
