I have fond memories of this model G Wagon. We owned a SWB about the same age as this one when we lived in West Africa. Though the LandRover 110 (later Defender) was more capable off road due to its longer suspension travel, the G Wagon rode a lot better due to its progressive bumpstops. What happened to ours? Whilst I was in charge we ran it without oil in the rear axle and damaged the differential. We were able to fix the problem eventually but - as it was a very special model - it never drove the same again.
I’m so jealous- I got offered a 2.8l one for £1500 by a friend 5 years ago but didn’t have the space for it. Biggest regret not buying it

Black & silver plates can definatey not go on a 1984 vehicle. In order to display them your vehicle must be over 40 years old and also you you must apply for historic vehicle status with DVLA. Once obtained then you can display black and silver plates.
