Decided I would upload the songs that weren't on here, enjoy!
Information:
"Was a three piece punk band from East Brunswick, New Jersey.
They were fronted by Tomas Kalnoky, who later went on to write, sing and play guitar for famed third-wave ska bands Catch 22, Streetlight Manifesto, and acoustic ensemble Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution. Gimp released one cassette in 1995, entitled Smiles for Macavity, likely named after the cat, a subject of a poem. At the time, Tomas was 15.
The band featured drummer Chris Greer and bassist Jason Scharenguivel, both of which went on to play with Kalnoky in Catch 22, though Scharenguivel left after the recording of Rules of the Game. Kalnoky's brother Achilles also played violin on the track "Supernothing". Often at concerts for Kalnoky's current band, Streetlight Manifesto, fans will scream "Butterworth" in an attempt to make Kalnoky cover the song, "Mrs. Butterworth's Indestructible Bomb Shelter", but Kalnoky insist that "I wrote it when I was nine, its the most embarrassing thing I've ever written, stop saying Butterworth Smiles of Macavity

Seen him play 5 times. 3 with streetlight and 2 TohKay. Been listening to his works for over 2 decades now and im suprised im alive and still listening today.
I wish the 'hey hey hey hey thanks for all the madness...thanks for all the gladness..' part was kept in other versions of this song. Really like that part.
agree
I agree, but it's 'sadness' and 'madness'.
its great
Well Tomas has and always will be a perfectionist. He’s never satisfied with how his music comes out sonically so he’s always changing things up but yeah I do agree I wish that part was implemented more
I'm crying on the inside because I am afraid that Toh Kay might not ever make such beautiful music again. Please Toh Kay, please continue making your music, for the good of all mankind.
Don't worry about it man, first off. Tomas told many people that after Streetlight he was going to continue B.O.T.A.R. Anyway, if you ask me, I think that once he writes songs for Bandits of the acoustic revolution, he'll do a classic Toh Kay cover of it. and fun fact, down, down, down to mephisto's cafe was originally going to be a Toh Kay song.
Sorry, what I meant was that it was oringally going to be a B.O.T.A.R song.
Gavin Kelly Well that's the greatest news I have heard in a long time. I still think I will miss the heaviness of Streetlight. They combined so many elements into their music, and it is a shame to see them come to an end. Anyways, I am ecstatic to hear that Toh Kay will continue. I don't know how I missed that news.
FockingGinge It is pretty easy to miss, he told alot of this news to fans "privately" anyway, if you're interested in streetlight news and other toh kay related stuff, go to www.reddit.com/r/streetlightmanifesto
Gavin Kelly That was probably the best news I've heard in my whole life! I love Botar so much that it's my nickname!
I want this song playing at my funeral.
This is my favorite version of this song.
I love how his count off at the beginning is completely off beat. Great song though
Thank you very much for uploading this, as well as the other songs by gimp. Catch-22 and Streetlight Manifesto (as well as B.O.T.A.R. added later) have been my favorite band since my discovery of them in 5th grade, and they've continued to hold that place for 9 years and counting. I forgot about this act of his and it's very nice to hear it again.
I just wish I could have seen Thomas play more than once :)
Thanks again
Tom actually was originally from keasby i.e. Woodbridge NJ, we sat next to each other in science class, and later my band racecar 719 would open majority of their shows from birtch hill , stonenpony - club bene and Jay the bassists basement with other awesome acts like Bernie's fixx linens on display, amungst other local heavyweights oh and Chris Greer was not the drummer in this album it was James sevchek (plz correct)
Really? :0 @ericportman6418
This song is amazing
toms brother is a beautiful violinist
Love it, I’m going to rehab in a couple of days and I feel my gf at the time would understand.
im pretty fucking depressed right now and listening to this song, i love tomas.. hes my hero :)
Tomas is my hero to man. Stay strong things do get better. I know his words comfort me, hopefully they do for you as well.
hey man, thanks for the words of encouragement, im stuck in a rehab for past 21 days now, im clean for 21 days woohoo (heroin addict). but anyways im not trying to make this about me, its cool you even said anything especially the fact were probably the only two people increasing this counter everyday hehe
charlie kowalski hope you're still doin better😊
hope you're doing okay dude
he's my hero too. helped me get through so much. hopefully the past year has been kind to you.
Toh Kay before Toh Kay
No problem man, glad to help.
Eu ainda quero essa música.tocando no meu funeral
This song means so much to me. Thumbs?
Fun fact: on the Smiles for Macavity cassette art, above the Supernothing illustration it says, "Supernothing is a PARODY. he wakes up sad again blah blah blah..."
Perhaps you already knew that. Interesting perspective though.
+Jared Cooney So it's meant to be making fun of super sad songs or what? I don't quite understand haha.
+AngryAvi essentially, yeah. Poking fun at super sad exaggerated self-pity songs, I guess. Or maybe I'm missing something.
Yeah, most of his other "sad songs" don't appear very self-pitying to me, so you're probably right.
Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he were sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to he was sane and had to.
*lays down in fetal position* *holds in tears* *cries*
I will forever love everyone in this comment section.
I love this song
Yes you do. So do I, William.
This comment's getting awkward. But yeah, I love this song. Why Thomas hated it is beyond me. It conveys all the emotional turmoil in such a great manner. Props to the violinist too, he's doing a great job.
***** Sometimes people tend to hate past projects, creationist for little things. If you look at streetlight now, they're lyrics are now metaphoric / symbolic, and gimp has alot of lyrics that are the opposite. I completely understand what he means, but damn it would be great if he acknowledged it a bit more.
Yeah, I agree. I hate a lot of my old drawings, but I acknowledge my mistakes and stuff. I want him to give these songs a little more love. But even then, this whole cassette deserves more attention. I just wish I had a copy of this thing, they're so rare.
Gavin Kelly Oh yeah, where'd you get these songs? Do you own the cassette?
Wow this is even prettier than the streetlight version
Have you heard the catch 22 version
@@realperson9104 they're all made by the same guy
I’m no fool, the were all toh Kay, my favorite version just happens to be the catch 22 version
@@realperson9104 probably the only song I like the catch 22 version as much as the streetlight if not better. This version helps understand the lyrics a bit better cause the emotion matches the mood of the music. Whereas streetlight is just so upbeat despite darker lyrics
What a really great depressing song.
I cried to this song because my mom died
I feel sorry for you.
And As The Footsteps Die Out Forever-Catch 22
Oh my fucking god
I love this song. Dude i listen to it in the shower.......uhno i don't.
Don't be ashamed, I'm sure we all do.
No way. We sing it in the shower!
@@CrasyWolfang Forget that, I do the oneshot penguin room easter egg and I BECOME SONG.
Goldmine. 🤣I put in a random CZcams search hoping to find a funny ish sad song for my asshole parapalegic sorta ex boyfriend and this was the first thing that came up. So double bonus, I also just found my favorite new old band.
Anyone have the tabs for this pleaseeeee
Written at 15. Gonna be 55 better get off my ass lol. But Tomas is amazing
Does anyone knows if theres a place that we can buy this casette?
MPimages1 I'm been trying to acquire one of these casettes since 2008. Every few years one will come onto ebay for like 2 days. You're going to have to have a connection, lord knows how hard I've tried.
This song was written by 15 year olds. Think about that.
To be 15 again..
Mew? The Gibbler strikes again? Mew Mew Mew?
does anyone know the chords for this?
+Kevin Jimenez Its C, Am, F, G
C, e7, Am, g, f (with pinky hammering on/off the high g note) g.
In the cassette notes, it says this song is a parody. Making fun of all those sappy depressing songs ha
shows how a genius he is, making a parody that is better (and for me one of the most fitting songs ever) than anything he is supposed to parody
What does macavity mean ?
It was the lead man's cat
Its a cat from a french poet
@@lauriebills9647 naw
Gariv Kelly was charged for making this
who? what? when?
Apparently this song was written about Kristina aka the girl referenced in Kristina she don’t know I exist
where'd you hear that?
