    27:54 - Anita Włodarczyk:
    First of all, thanks for taking effort in correctly pronouncing the name, you did a solid job on that! And to the point, there is a very hilarious story that also explains why in the most recent World Champs 2023 she did not pass the qualification round. So for all those of you wondering:
    Around June 2022, she was doing...idk, whatever, but then while returning to her car to go back home, she noticed something suspicious. There was a guy breaking into her car in plain daylight and robbing it of all its valuables. So she decided in an instant to run after the guy to solve this problem on her own. He started running away seeing her, but she got him and, well, beat the crap out of the robber :D Unfortunately, due to that action, she torn some muscle in her arm while fighting him and that resulted in a long injury. She only got back from the injury a short time before the World Champs and therefore was in no shape to qualify further. But think from the robber's perspective for a second: you're breaking into a car, looting it, it belongs to a woman...and you're so unlucky that this woman is the best hammer thrower of all time, literally one of the strongest women to walk the earth and she overpowers you like a kid. That is some *serious* bad luck to rob her out of all the women on earth xD

    31:10 the reason it still stands as a WR is because it was ratified (a mistake or not , it is fact) and after that point all the evidence for a wind reading cannot prove that the wind was not +2.0.
    A large amount of the data was taken from wind reading from the triple jump which happened at the same time, the most likely reading at the time was around +5.0 , the wind readers did not function correctly for 10 - 15 minutes and gave wind readings of 0.0 until they warmed up so to speak, the race before Flo Jos race was also 0.0, however the equipment was not faulty and when checked afterwards for faults none were found mechanically and it gave its 0.0 reading through working parts therefore it stood even though the reading was clearly erroneous and couldve been replicated in strong winds.
    It got ratified and once that happens you have to prove beyond any doubt that the result shouldnt stand, a few triple jump wind readings well within the legal limit make this an impossible record to delete as technically it couldve been +2.0 wind as it was proven that there were indeed legal wind readings that day despite many being over +4.0 and the vast majority being well above the legal limit.
    And technically Flo Jos other race data shows that had she kept running at the same standards, found a +2.0 wind and a great start she was capable of legal 10.49.

    • @RunnerBoi
      @RunnerBoi  Před 3 měsíci +6

      I think the most damning piece of evidence for me were the statistical anomalies when it came to not just FloJo, but the other runners in the race as well. They followed a *massively* different trajectory then your traditional heats > finals curve than what most sprinters will normally have (accounting for wind too ofc)
      Imo, the people who did the study in the 90's did prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the record was wind-aided. Flojo was technically capable of running 10.49 under ideal conditions, but in the Olympic Trials semis, I just can't see a valid argument other than the officials saying "no, yeah, it was working I swear guys."
      To my knowledge, the IAAF hasn't even addressed this particular study either. It provides incredibly compelling evidence that highlights anomalies beyond what could reasonably happened at an event of this scale, and this is isn't even the only flawed sprint-related thing they have etched into their system (e.g. the reaction-timing rule is incredibly flawed and non-academic as well).

    • @cattycats4
      @cattycats4 Před 3 měsíci

      @@RunnerBoi yes its about 95% likely the wind was over +4.0, further evidence and examination might bring about proof that supersedes what currently stands, what I mean is the data recording process in the wind reader could prove the real speed, something defaulted the result to 0.0 but the actual wind speed data was recorded. then again minutes after the race there was a triple jump recorded around 1.2 , who knows what the average speed was over that 11 seconds of race, it would be hilarious if the wind readings were properly calculated and the result was legal, maybe a huge gust caught the runners around the 60m mark for a couple of seconds launching them to unreal times but unable to make the average over 2.0 with a big headwind coming in after Flo Jo had finished or for a few seconds before the race but still during the duration of time the wind reader was active I think its about 15 seconds, some people make the argument of a counter side wind, its all pretty ridiculous but what isnt is that it cant be proven until more developments are made and I hope they are. Thompsons 10.54 is very deserving. a video about the wind reader used in 1988 would be pretty cool, wonder how obtainable they are today and if its easy to recreate a 0.0 in windy conditions ? being informative of how they work and how they read the wind speed would be a great addition to a video about the 10.49.

    • @RunnerBoi
      @RunnerBoi  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Ah, okay I see what you're saying. Also the wind wasn't just 0.0, but 0.00 I realized after looking back on it! Makes it much more precise and all the stranger too@@cattycats4

    Puts Kelvin Kiptum and not Kipchoge

    Duplantis and not Bubka

    • @RunnerBoi
      @RunnerBoi  Před 3 měsíci +10

      If I included every single notable athlete in every discipline, the video would have been like 2 hours lol. Not to mention I included Lewis, Bolt, and Kipchoge in the video, just within different contexts.
      Also including something like Bolt's accomplishments in an iceberg vid would be pretty pointless given how household of a name he is. The point of iceberg vids at times is that the information isn't something an outsider would know right off the bat (and then down the line, it's info that not even track fans know), so including Gatlin's bans is more intriguing than meandering through Bolt's accomplishments that everyone already knows.

    without really knowing anything about historic track and field (I don't know why this came up in my recommendation, but I'm watching it!), abortion doping sounds like it could have been a rumour that started with soviet athletes being forced to get abortions to continue competing, and someone thought it would give an edge when it was just the soviet system forcing athletes to keep training and competing when they didn't want to anymore. which is just depressing.

    A couple takeaways - devon allen reacted one thousandth to fast, not a hundredth.
    Grant holloway has a longer win streak (albeit less races) in the 60mh than Edwin Moses
    Yohan Blake has the only sub 19s clocking in the 200 when excluding reaction times
    The 'closest race' in track field history can also be the semi finals at the 2022 world indoor championships when King and Nomoto tied to the thousandth in thr 60mh, even if they were in different semis
    FloJo's world record could've had a side wind, blowing sideways as shown by the spectators' hair blowing backsards which could be why it shows as 0 because it isn't blowing forwards or backwards
    I hate flotrack with a passion
    Nearly every single top level sprinter is on some sort of cycle unknowingly
    Reducing naturally occurring testosterone is bad for the sport
    1988 Olympic 100m should've had 2 medalists

I still lurk the boards every now and then to see what people are talking about but don't spend too long because the toxicity is pretty yikes. I will never agree with shared golds. Most sports have tie breakers, add tiebreakers to anything that doesn't have them. Why do they get to split a gold when other people are stuck getting 4th doing 99.9% as good as 3rd, and getting no medal. A lack of tiebreakers is not fair to anyone else who has to face tiebreakers. I think in an olympic setting, this could be done easily. Just make whatever their last result was weigh in when theres a tie.
