    Why is this cleanup video sooooo addictive??? It doesn’t even have flowers or foliage but I watched it 3x to start with. Why? 🤷‍♀️

    My son died last year and I stumbled on your videos during a sleepless night and have been watching ever since. You have reminded me of how much I loved gardening with my grandmother as a child. I now have a guest bedroom half full of succulents, rooting clippings and plants. It makes my brain quiet down so my husband doesn't even mind haha. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

      @berniecelee5062 Před 4 lety +8

      No TV show ..... too many restrictions for content, etc. She is creative and she has no restrictions on CZcams....this will not be the case for TV producers. She will make more money , less stress , total 100% freedom on creativity. She will have her own schedule that she manages with freedom to raise her kids and better balanced family life. That is Nirvana ! CZcams personalities could bring in income over $500 K over time.

    • @user-ro5iu6br4f
      @user-ro5iu6br4f Před 4 lety

      @@berniecelee5062 CZcams doesn't pay that much. You need at least 1,5 million views per month to make decent money from ads and, of course, plenty of sponsorships, of which gardening doesn't have many.
      Laura is very charismatic and very passionate about gardening and she could try TV out. Not only would she make more money but she could also get a bigger audience, so when her TV career is over, she can still resume CZcams and make more money than she currently does.

    I love seeing Russell in your videos, he has such great timing and seems to fit in so well like he was trained to do what he does. I like to trim back everything in my yard, like the rose bushes and all of my perennials, they just seem to do better and then I don't have to trim them in the spring, and the new growth has room to grow. I love these videos, I always learn something new to either try or think about trying. Thank you again Laura.

    I know this isn't the popular thing to say but you are missing out on providing mainly food for the birds such as waxwings, cardinals, chickadees, robins, goldfinches, & more - many die in winter due to lack of food , especially if they have been relying on your flower beds throughout the growing season for seeds, insects, and nectar. By leaving sedums (asters), coneflowers, rosehips, etc. I have found in late winter / early spring when all their food is gone they go to town on that stuff and I also get a convention of robins' that is stunning!

      Maybe an inch of snow. You can still see the grass a bit. But the 'fall cleanup' season is long gone.
      What about you Linda?

    I have many David Austin rose bushes. I was told not to cut them back until spring. I would love to cut them back now because they are so unsightly (crunchy). I live in Boise which is your same zone. 😉

    You need a chipper! Lots of those pruning would make great mulch!

      Heh. I said the same thing! But a chipper / shredder so she gets really fine mulch out of it.

    Hey Laura! I’ve always wondered what you do with the garden debris that you accumulate. I’ve seen what happens with your excess soil, but what do you do with all the branches and things that you prune and cut down? Thanks!

      I scrolled through the comments for this exact same question. Would love to know the answer, because Fall and even Spring clean up can produce so many large branches and things to dispose of. Maybe a small chipper is needed to chop everything up to add to a compost pile?

    We had one of those devastating freezes earlier in October. It destroyed everything so I have also been cleaning up certain things here and there. I was actually enjoying your fall colour through these videos since ours was virtually non existent. But you are 100% correct about cleaning up some things in the fall. It does help with spring clean up. I tend to leave anything that has seed heads for the birds and grasses, if they haven't been smooshed, for winter interest and habitat, and finally I leave those plants that benefit from that extra protection during the winter! 🤗🤗🤗 Thanks for all your great videos.

    I love the elderberry flowers, foliage, too, of course, but the flowers are very pretty and different from many others blooming. One day, I would like to try to make elderflower syrup/cordial. I have only tasted the Trader Joe's elderflower lemonade and it is very good, especially for canned, but I know UK and European gardeners make a lot of tasty things from elderflowers, including elderflower champagne. :) BTW, making elderflower cordial would be an excellent video for you to make because I don't think it is well know here in the USA, but, thanks to highly ornamental new varieties, it is becoming more widely grown here. I know I wouldn't be aware of all the tasty things you can make from it if I didn't watch so many British/UK gardening shows and videos.

    So... I’ve been watching all your videos about cleanup meanwhile looking outside In my area. The leaves were falling somewhat here but barely. Then boom, all the leaves fell and it snowed. It is awful. Trying to clean up the yard with snow. I don’t understand what is happening... the weather was far to warm (still in the 60) with no change of leaves.

      Here in NJ, we kind of get the same thing. One, really cold November day + a rain storm with wind and *BOOM* ! All the leaves are gone.
