    Also in Balkan regions of Europe we make Elderberry syrup. It is very easy to make, you just need sugar, elderberry flowers and lemons! And than you just dilute that syrup in glass of water..
    It's the best juice in summer time.. Nice regards from Bosnia and Herzegovina 👋❤

      Yes, flowers. You need to leave the flowers with the sugar for about one week. I put one big flower per 1 liter of water. Very tasty 😊

    In Denmark we use the Elderberries flowers and later the berries to make syrup for juice :)

      In Romania we do the same. From reading other people's comments, in the Balkan region, the Nederlands, Sweden, they also make syrup for juice from the flowers. It appears to be a custom all over Europe 😀

    I love how they blend with other plants and trees. The variegated leaves are awesome. Never before have I complained about your video's, this one was too short.     I have never heard of anyone frying the flowers, but where I live it's very common to use the flowers or the fruits to make Elder syrup. It's quite good!

      In France for exemple we fry them but we also make syrups and cordials with Elderberry flowers. We fry the flower of the false acacia (Robinia pseudoacacia" or "black locust") too.

    I love gardening! My favorite job was planting, weeding, and caring for the sedum in rock waterfall areas in a 75 unit gated community... Just me and my 12 yr younger than me sister. If I were your neighbor it would be difficult for me not to want you for my very Best Friend!

    Hi Laura, I´m from the Czech republic Europe and I´ve recently offered the fried elderberry flowers to our dear indian friends to show them what the nature gives us. You need only a little bit of salt, eggs, flour and some spices. Mix and create a nice creamy consistancy, dip the flower and fry. You can keep the stem and use it for the eating with your hands. We do the same way the black locust flowers and these are much more frangrant. Love your enthusiasm for gardening. Veronika

    Elder berry bushes grow wild here and are in full bloom right now. You can also make a cordial with the blooms.

    I am in England and I dehydrate elderflower en mass every year and use it to make floral herbal teas, as well as in baking to make biscuits - yummy yummy! I also make elderberry wine later in the year. There is so much of this growing native in our area and we forage for it xx

    True! In Slovenija Elderberry flowers are fried. Just make a batter for crapes - palacinke and dip and fry. Delicious!!! We do that with White Acacia flowers as well, they usually flower at the same time, in May. And we make Elderberry Flower syrup to drink during the summer. At the end of the summer we make Elderberry berry syrup.

    My husband's mother came from Germany as a young girl. He said that she used to make the elderberry fritters when he was a young boy. They were a treat for the family.

    My non-gardening husband was given a little native elderberry sprig. It was almost dead before he planted it but he tended to it over the years. It grew HUGE and the birds loved the berries!

    We make Sirup and Marmelade with flowers and later berries :) and those pancakes you were talking about!!! Love it. So tasty :) with powdered sugar over it. Yumm!!

    Oh lord...you need to try adding some elderflower syrup to medium sweet or sec (depending on your preference) sparkling wine!! It's such a nice drink for summer evenings with friends or family.

    Elderberry is beautiful! Elderberry berries are one of the most powerful antivirulent! Makes a wonderful tea w/ a little raw honey & lemon if you like! Make some elderberry syrup....yum!

    I have a few black lace. The deer will eat them, but not as bad as roses, hostas, etc. Just wanted to mention that in the UK the make elderflower cordial and champagne and elderflower syrup (if I remember correctly Harry and Megan's cake had elderflower as one of the flavors) with them. Sounds even better than frying them

    The first time I went to England I got completely addicted to elderflower cordial! There's a fizzy version that is incredibly good. I keep meaning to try and use the native elderberries that grow wild here to make things, but I always forget. I should get out there today and harvest some!

    Just planted the straight species elderberry for screening and attracting wildlife. I've been moving towards planting more natives than cultivars in the last few years. Not saying cultivars don't have their place, but if you want to attract more wildlife, I've noticed they definitely prefer the straight species over the cultivars. Keep in mind that the straight species of plants can get very large and may be more aggressive, so you need space for a lot of them.

    In the UK we make elderberry wine and vinegar , and fry the flowers in a light tempura batter, when cooked sprinkle with caster sugar. Yummy. Have never seen a variegated though and most of ours just grow wild in the hedgerows.
