The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Back when people still had class and honour.
Heard this song sung when in 6th grade, and a guiding haunt ever since. Just like gone with the wind.
Miss Turner was great mezzo and her rendition of this song is superb
Lovely. Not too many songs can bring tears to people's eyes ... but this one from Carousel does. ❤
Beautiful!
Beautiful. What a voice. Love this
I always think of Jerry Lewis and the annual MDA telethon when I hear this song. Watched part of it every year for so long.
I do too
I do too
This is a beautiful rendition. It came just as I needed to hear it. I have lost many that I cared deeply about lately and felt very alone. TY for sharing this. God Bless You and stay safe 🙏 ❤️
I've prayed for the Lord to comfort you and stay beside you.
@@saabninefive93 TY so much for your prayers, God Bless You.
We went thru a stretch like that a few years ago. Lost 8 family members and very close friends within 15 months. I hope your aching heart is comforted by warm loving thoughts of your loved ones. ❤
@Greg DeBaggis Yes, sorry for your losses. God Bless and comfort you 🙏
@@tj921able You're welcome. God Bless You as well.
just great performance!
I don't remember Claramae Turner, but she's an excellent singer. Ed Sullivan really had an eye for good family entertainment. Would love to see a show on TV like this today. The entertainment gurus of today have zero class, and are unable to recognize true talent. They only pander to the excesses of pop culture. I hope that changes someday.
From "Carousel".
Beautiful.
Gorgeous, rich and serene. A great match of singer and song.
Liverpool 😍
Beautiful
Loved the movie & her lovely voice..plus Gordon McCrae!
Thank you! Claramae sang this great song very well! Two other "You'll Never Walk Alone" performances I'm looking forward to possibly seeing are Sergio Franchi's and the Bachelors. So far, my favorite one was Jan Peerce's. Of course, John Raitt's was great too. Speaking of John Raitt, he was one of the many stars of this ASCAP tribute show. The music performers were Cab Calloway, Mitch Miller, the Whiting Sisters, John Raitt, Claramae Turner, Frank Silver, Jack Norworth, Ernie Burnett, Julie Styne, Billy Daniels, Helen Kane, Rose Murphy, Will Oakland, Maude Nugent Jerome and Pat Rooney. An all-music episode!
Some of these performers have been posted from this episode, but not all. I'd love to see Mitch Miller performing his current number one, "Yellow Rose of Texas", and Will Oakland, one of the earliest stars of cylinder records in the early 1900's, singing "Machusla". I don't know if any other footage of him exists besides the Sullivan show, which I've never seen, and his appearance on this show occurred a few months before he passed away. He had a very unusual tenor voice.
Machusla reminds me of John Gary. The great Roy Hamilton had a hit with You'll Never Walk Alone in 1954; he it again in 1966.
Beautiful... ❤️
Happy Thursday... thank you for sharing!
❤❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Much more than the Liverpool FC anthem... Goosebumps!!
Terrific! Great technique. I don't remember. Was she in the movie or the play?
She starred in the movie.
@@gregdebaggis5032 Thanks Greg!

I will always associate this song with Jerry Lewis.
