I think its not never but wait for truly and relationship to grow. I think this same advice goes for anyone you meet, new friend, new significant other etc. My au pairs say they feel like they can tell me anything and I'm proud of that I work hard on a good foundation and upfront work to get that. I know my au pairs boyfriend, heck he sleeps here almost weekend and I know her best friends tea but I adore her best friend. Bit solid on dont tell everything on day 1, use common sense on how new and how much trust is needed vs there.
That’s why I always say that you have to check first see what time of relationship you have with your hf. You sound like you a really great hm.

My current host family is great and all of that good stuff but I’m generally a reserved person. But I completely get what you’re saying.
I would also say don’t tell them about how you spend your money cos sometimes they would “judge” you indirectly, it’s just weird.
