I love the MD-80's! This was a great video, nice job! Liked! There is no other engine I could ever love more than the JT8D!!!
Thank you so much!! Long live the Maddog Super 80! Thanks again for stopping by!
Love it! Those MD88 engine sounds are the best!!!
Thank you! They really are!!
The me 80s are my number one favorite aircraft of all.
They're great aircraft!
They are my favourite planes too
MD-88 are my best friend
Allegiant Air MD-80 I am Boeing 717 Delta Airlines but we both look exactly the same but you have a longer fuselage than mine
Liked! Really good trip report. Great camera work, captions and sound, especially take off and landing. Airplane shadow was a nice bonus. Favorite caption: "Conveniently located next to the JT8D engine" .
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it! ^-^
Best seat in the house right here! Love the Delta MD88s and the glorious JT8D. So glad Delta is still keeping these old girls around!
Definitely! It's so awesome to sit close to that powerful JT8D! Thanks for watching and commenting! ^_^
+Horizon Productions SFL Hey dude nice vid I was wondering about two things since I'm not older and only 13 I wanted to know when yall landed at atl and started slowing down why did those engines start roaring like that also July the 7 I'm leaving from mem to lax and I'm going on a delta airbus a320 do u know if that plane is safe? THX
Ethan Jones
Thank you! The engines started roaring because they usually engage reverse thrust on landing. Since we were right next to the engine, we got the opportunity to feel the power! And BTW, any airplane that flies is safe! Especially on Delta, don't ever worry about safety! Have a great flight!! :D
on a whole, planes are very safe. airbus, boeing, embraer, bombardier are the "bulk" of the Us carrier fleets. there is ton of quality checks and regulations that go into ensuring air travel is as safe as possible. i flew maybe 200,000 miles over 2.5 years and never had to have an emergency landing. although 2 flights we were stuck by lightning. first time we all knew because of the flash. the second time, nobody knew. first was a crj700 (maybe 9?) the other was an EMB145.
Excellent footage! Liked a lot :D
Thanks man!
Fantastic trip report mate!! Looks like a great flight!
Thanks man!! It was wonderful, the landing was probably the best part!
Awesome footage Mason, and great editing Brandon!
Thanks Mr. Railfan!! :D
Amazing, subscribed, liked!
Thank you very much!!
Awesome video!
Thank you!! ^-^
Great flight review! Awesome audio quality! Huge Like from me! :)
Thanks so much! :D
Epic! Love that engine and wing view! Catch that view before you can't!
Much thanks!! These classic birds will surely be missed, but it's great that Delta is keeping their MD-80s for a while!
Yep!
Great video! I had the opportunity to sit next to the engine on a Delta 717 last year.
Thank you! Must've been great to hear that Rolls-Royce!
Love the Mad Dogs, flaking paint and all. Scheduled to fly one from ATL to PWM in a few weeks.
They're amazing airplanes! Have a great flight!
Nice! I love the good old MD-80! In fact, I just flew on one a week or so ago!
The Super 80 is a real workhorse! What airline did you fly?
I always loved the 2 - 3 seat configuration if I could be on the 2 seat side. Only other planes you can do that are the smaller regional jets.
It's definitely unique, and it's more spacious than a regional jet! Thanks for commenting!
man, flew to memphis for like 15months.. was usually crj's direct on northwest, then delta once NW was gobbled up. so many memories.
doe delta still have a club lounge there?
Wow, cool! According to the website, Delta does have a Sky Club at Memphis! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great Vid! I commonly spot MD-88s at my local airport (KBUF)
Thank you! And cool, do you guys get a lot of MD action?
+Horizon Productions SFL Yes, its all Mad Dogs and CRJs here at BUF!
that engine housing could use some work yikes lol good video. love the Mad Dogs
Definitely haha! These aircraft are really reliable, one of our favorite types! Thanks for watching and commenting!
very nice, you would think with all that rain, you would hit the clouds faster, like how the flips line back up even in take off, most bigger planes flips level out when the plane level out
Thank you!
Awesome engine sound, the best in the west, although - for me - it still doesn't beat the Soloviev D30 and Kuznetsov NK-8-2 sounds (on the Tu-154, which was the type I travelled every summer when I was a child). Great video!
Thank you for commenting!! The "Soviet technology" engines are very rare over here, but whenever we can hear them they sound amazing!!
Dear god that sound is orgasmic!!!!
Very Nice video and flight, awesome, I will be onboard the MD next month on two times, I cant wait more.
Question, why Delta almost never use full flaps on MD on the landing?
Thanks for the comment! The MD-80 is an amazing aircraft. Never noticed before, but (at least from this angle) it sure looks like they didn't use full flaps. Maybe because they didn't need that extra lift, who knows.
Captions are great, sound is great, camera work is great! Is the source of {TrueSound} really a little microphone with a cloth on it??! Cool :)
Thank you so much!! The source is indeed that cute microphone, but it is equipped with a highly modified SOCK! Lol! :D
I love the md 80s
They are awesome!
0:48 I love safety cards no creepy at all
GREAT VIDEO I SAT IN THE SAME SEAT ROW TWO WEEKS AGO 34A THE OPPOSITE SIDE.
Thank you! Cool! How was the flight?
+Horizon Productions SFL your welcome,my flight was great.
Another great video! Luckily
you didn't sit in the front to get that amazing sound..
Thank you! The sound was awesome!
Awsome this is where I live
Atlanta is
Cool! Thanks for watching! :D
listen all in my head by fifth harmony and cool vid
Thanks!
Your welx
Great video, mate! How long are the planning to keep their MD-80s? ^^
Thank you! They will be keeping them for a while, but not sure exactly how long.
Alex Kay delta will get rid of them all by 2025. Most are leaving next year.
Horizon Productions SFL All Md-88's 1988 and older leave by 2018 and all will be gone likely by 2020.
Horizon Productions SFL BTW , I prefer a beautiful, lineup of 757's at ATL. I went to Atl recently and there were 11 757's all next to each other. Every gate from A1 to C 40 were full.
Alex Kay idk about the MD-88s probably by 2020 as he said, but I think they will keep their MD-90s and MD-95s (717s) for a very long time.
Nice stereo sound with this video. I can’t wait until next year to start back flying. It has been 18 years for me. I’m planning to use Delta to fly from California to visit in Greensboro North Carolina. I have heard good things about Delta. I heard that they are twice as better than American which I was going to fly but I have heard negative things about that other airline company. So, I’m going to gamble on Delta. For those who has taken Delta, I would like to know if they are good? or not good. I would like to know. By the way, I think I’m going to have to buy gum to keep my ears from plugging up.
Wow, 18 years without flying? Many prefer Delta over American but it varies. Based on our past experiences, we'd highly recommend Delta!
Horizon Productions SFL sweet. I will take your word on it. I can’t wait until next year to fly. Financially, I just wasn’t able to do it. I was just planning my trip for the summer just for the heck of it to see how much it would cost me to fly from Sacramento to Greensboro. They said it was $300 round-trip which wasn’t bad.
Are the JT8Ds on the 717? I flew one inter island in Hawaii and it sounded like a RB211 mixed with a GE90.
717 uses the BR700. Easily researched with Google.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_717#Specifications
No, I use Rolls Royce BR715. Some people that my engines remind them of the MD-80.
The reverse thrust was pretty loud!
It certainly was!! That was one of the best parts of the flight!
Mine is loud as well.
22:33 you spelled angry puppies wrong!
nice video, could do without the mental plecibo I mean religious stuff though.
Thanks, but if you don't like it, don't read it. What's wrong with loving each other? If you think it's wrong for humans to love each other and make the world a better place, then you're part of the problem.
