- In which Kate Harris of Harris and Harris Books in Clare, Suffolk joins me in my musings to reveal the fiction written by women that has been flying off her shelves.
Please note that this video was recorded in Kate’s wonderful bookshop and is punctuated by the happy sounds of the shop doorbell, cash register and merry book shoppers. If you listen carefully you can even catch the sound of @SavidgeReads chortling in the background 😁

Any time! And I mean that - I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Thanks so much for having us 🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
Delightful conversation and great recommendations, as my TBR grows and grows, thanks to Louise, Simon, and now Kate. Lovely discussion…thanks!!📚♥️
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚💜💜💜
This was just such a lovely video, next up is Simon’s. Oh what a treat, thank you Louise & of course Mrs H (adore her Instagram and hope to visit the magnificent store one day!} ☺️
You won’t regret a visit. Do hope you make it 🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜📚📚📚
This was delightful, Louise! I so wish I could have made it to Clare while I was visiting London, but I’m also glad I didn’t get there and expose any of you to the covid I didn’t know I had. I hope we get the opportunity to meet some other time. 😘
It would have been lovely to see you. Do hope you are clear of Covid now 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚💜💜💜
@@louisesavidgemuses4135 Not yet clear as of Sunday. I need to get some more tests to check again.
This was such a lovely video. I enjoyed your conversation immensely. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! We had a lot of fun making it 🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚💛
Fabulous video, I love your channel Louise and Simon's. Great you are you in the new Harris & Harris 2, every week I wait eagerly for the next installment of Kate's What's in the box Mrs Harris. Cheers me up no end x
Kate’s a wonderful human and what she doesn’t know about books ain’t worth knowin’ 🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
The Robert Galbraith series is really a great series and the tv series is really good as well. I thought the second book was better than the first. It helps to read them in order. The books really need to be slimmed down: a good editor could help a lot. Don’t let Casual Vacancy put you off the mystery series.
🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
Could listen to you and Mrs H all day
Thank you. It was such a privilege to do 😊🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚💜💜💜
This was such a fun video!! I wish I weren’t an ocean away! Her store looks delightful, and of course my tbr just expanded!! 😊
😊Oops!😁🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
💕😀🎄xx very many thanks both. I’ve put many of your choices on reserve in my library. Look forward to reading them.🥰📚👍
Do hope you enjoy them 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚💛💛💛
Such a lovely video! Thanks for the cosy vibes. I must have a snifter later 😂
Please do! 🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
Some cracking books here. Excellent. I love your channel Louise.
Thank you kindly! 🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
This was so lovely 😊 so nice to meet you all on Saturday and see the new Harris and Harris, a real gem of Suffolk 🥰. Fabulous recommendations and more for my TBR thank you ☺️
So lovely to meet you too. We had a blast! 🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
Absolutely brilliant video. Looks like you had a fantastic time. Would love to visit one day. X
You won’t be disappointed if you do 🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
Elly Griffiths' Norfolk series is very morish - Ruth Gallaway is the star of the series and is just compulsive. Must try the Brighton series too.
Really enjoyed this and now have more books on my wish list
Wonderful! 🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
Fabulous video. Memory of Animals sounds up my street so might treat myself.
You should! 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚💜💜💜
What fun you two! Yes Louise, you would be a most excellent bookseller! But I’m sure you’re an excellent teacher as well. 🤷♀️💃🥂📚
Oh thank you! But only until Friday… 🎉🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚💜💜💜
Do tell. Are you retiring (I adore retirements!) or taking a new path? Best wishes on your adventures!
This video just underscores how much I wish I could have been there last weekend. I love Mrs H’s “What’s in the box” videos and if I lived on that side of the pond I would definitely be a frequent purchaser from her shop. I’ve actually read all the books she highlighted as being top sellers. In Memoriam may be my favorite read of 0:01 the year. I am a fan of Elly Griffith’s Brighton series but really love her Ruth Galloway series and highly recommend it. Of course DC was excellent. The newest Cormoran Strike was quite good but way too long. I think I share the views about Mistletoe Malice, I must say! Hope you get a repeat visit to the shop soon!
Always love your insights. Would have loved to see you there, Kate is a gem. Wishing you all the best for the festive season 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚💜💜💜
‘The more you read, the less that’s the case’ 👏🏽 💚this
Maybe you mentioned this and i missed it but one of the most important things to know about Demon Copperhead is that it is a modern day retelling of Charles Dickens book David Copperfield. (Done brilliantly i think)
Absolutely 👍 🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜📚📚📚
I do feel with some books if there are too many characters I get overwhelmed and cannot relate to them. I like to have at the most maybe 6 characters in a book or at least have them broken up in chapters so I can really know each one. I am reading Winter Solstice now which has a lot of characters, but the author breaks them down into chapters which really is well done. I am loving this book.
"Winter Solstice" is such a "feel-good" book. Despite how long it is, I didn't want the book to end!
I am savoring it and do not want it to end. Have you read any other books she has written?@@MJ-in-Canada
I haven't yet read any other Rosamunde Pilcher books but I plan to, based on good things I've heard about some of her books, and based on my experience with "Winter Solstice."😊.@@mollieanne
I am going to also @@MJ-in-Canada
Think it also depends on the length of the novel but I definitely get overwhelmed sometimes. Agreed 👍 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚💜💜💜
Good to hear till noise at an independant bookstore.
Absolutely 👍
👏🏻📚👏🏻🤗
🙏🙏🙏💜💜💜📚📚📚
In Memorium is my book of the year (so far - you never know haha!)
I must get to it! 🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
I must say that I found the background noise very distracting in this video. It’s very hard to listen when there is sooo much going on off camera. 😢sorry😢. It’s a great concept but I just scrubbed thru this one I’m afraid. ❤
That’s fine and thanks for letting me know. I did put a warning about it in the description. Perhaps we should have recorded it after closing but I thought some people might enjoy the atmosphere of the bookshop in action. 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚💛💛💛
The Poisonwood Bible was an Oprah book club pick way back when. That when I heard of and read it.
Yes, a wonderful read 🙏🙏🙏📚📚📚💜💜💜
Does it help to read Elly Griffith in order?
I haven’t read them but always feel that you get more out of a series by reading them in sequence 🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
Yes definitely read in order if you can. Although the crimes are different the relationships between the characters develop over the series
Comment Allowance overdrawn but Demon Copperhead 👩🏽🍳 💋
😂😂😂😍
I raise a snifter to the pair of you!
🍸🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
Julia & Memory Of Animals are on my TBR & have jumped up some spots 📖 🪱 💚
Same 👍🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
Elly Griffiths' Norfolk series is very morish - Ruth Gallaway is the star of the series and is just compulsive. Must try the Brighton series too.
Must give her a try 🙏🙏🙏💛💛💛📚📚📚
