I couldn't go on holiday without my kindle. In fact I use it all the time for reading. Love how I can change the font to suit my 'ageing' eyes. Also can read when it's dark. Enjoy your holiday 🎉

Kindle all the way, I can read based on my mood and take all my books with me. Can’t go back to adding so much weight from paper books, I travel light. (and this is coming from someone who enjoys paper books at home!)

I always ready electronically when I travel so don’t have this issue of which books to take on hols when luggage is limited. But have to say that …lemon trees book was my fav book from 2023…a fabulous book…enjoy your trip🇮🇹

I love selecting my books for my holidays. I must agree with you regarding kindle. I do prefer a paperback book for holidays even though a kindle is probably more practical. Enjoy your holidays.

Some great choices and recommendations. After Sappho sounds fab. I was resistant to Kindle but am a recent convert. So good for travelling and the light is kind on my old eyes too! I do prefer a traditional book if I’m honest but Kindle now has a place for me. Lovely to see more of your library. Have a wonderful trip!

Great chat Louise! I am off on 21st April but only for a week. I’ve chosen An Enchanted April for some Englishness abroad, The Homecoming by Kate Morton and the next of the Louise Penny Inspector Gamache novels. Definitely need 3 for a week of relaxing, but if you are doing sightseeing then hopefully 5 will be enough for your 3 weeks. Have a fabulous break!

Ah--the external question! I always wind up taking twice as many books, and twice as much knitting, as I can actually use. I always take a kindle, but what if it crashes? One must be prepared!

I'm going on holiday soon to Bath, Montenegro, Cambridge, and Norwich. I plan to bring carry-on only for 18 days sooo... I'm going to try to bring only 2-3 books. I already have a Norwich book and now I need one based in Bath and Montenegro. I hope you have the absolute best time on your trip!

I'm using the UK as a jumping off place to hang out with friends in Montenegro. I'll hang out with a different friend in Norwich afterwards and I'll be in Bath before Montenegro because London is too Londony for me.

I never really liked having a Kindle. So, I bought an iPad Mini, and I downloaded the Kindle app and the Apple Book app. I love having all of my ebooks and audiobooks available on one device.

@@louisesavidgemuses4135 It really makes traveling easier because books are so heavy, plus I have a bad back. I am a mood reader so it helps when you have variety on your device. I can also use the internet to look up things when I come across something in a book that I want to know about. I love reading big chunky historical fiction, and it is easier to hold on a device on a plane. I love the feel of a big physical book, but sometimes I need the iPad Mini.

This is great timing as I’m off on holidays soon too and have the dilemma of what books to bring for the holiday, but also for the 13 hour flight! Don’t want to make the wrong choice and then be bored on the plane. Have a lovely holiday!

I too just can't get used to reading on a Kindle. I've had one for a long time and it just sits unused in my drawer. So I also pack physical books for vacation

Have a lovely time on your holiday! Kindle/e-books are so practical when packing, but a paperback will never let you down whatever happens. Saw an Linda Grant book on your book trolley, not suggesting you bring it to the Mediterranean, but if it's The Dark Circle, hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did when you get to it.

A problem I’ve never had! If I take a book with me, it’ll just be for the flight and probably be an audiobook, or maybe an ebook (but I’m not really doing ebooks much at all anymore.) I’m all about buying books when I get to my destination, having brought an extra bag with me for my purchases. On my last trip to London in December, I did hit Smith’s at Heathrow for something to read on the way home.

Bamboozle is one of my favourite words - Cattywampus is another - but seldom get to fit them into daily conversation. I am a whim reader - so packing books for a trip is not an easy task. I leave room to bring home books if the mood takes me.

I like to read a book set in the country I am visiting. I also like visiting books shops in the places I am visiting. There are often second hand bookshops

from what i've learned of after sappho i don't think it's a quick read and i do believe a wise choice especially if you think of it and the wharton as companions to each other and one book for travel purposes...have a wonderful trip.
