Did anyone do their homework? Was Ed a big hit at Ole Miss? USC gave him a shot and he was winning until competition got in the way. Where did you see sustainable success in his future? I feel like people so easily forget the Les Miles era. He won with Nick Saban program. His biggest mistake was not playing that Michigan hype and getting paid. He wasn't great at Oklahoma State, he sure isn't having anything that could resemble success in Kansas. Get used to the fact that these type of coaches aren't great or elite like Gene Chizik wasn't. Say to yourself with the 2007 LSU team, the 2010 Auburn team or the 2019 LSU team... Does this look like a sustainable success program. Too many people let their heart, ego and homerism get in the way of good judgement. I will stand by the fact that Ed Orgeron is not a great or even good coach. Simple fact is he isn't a good HC, LSU fans can write this off as rebuilding or what not but no defending NC has ever fell this bad and then irony of it is they're losing recruits left and right, several big names are opting out, and theres whispers of players ready to jump ship. 2019 was equally the best and worst thing to happen to LSU in a long time and the damage being done might set them back a decade if not further if they let coach O put up another season like this.

I HAD NO ILLUSIONS ABOUT THIS YEAR. No college team lost more coming in to 2020. I would also say no team has lost more in the last 80 years of College Football. All the leaders left Coaches AND players for head coaching jobs or the NFL. There was no way LSU could have kept any one of these things from happening. Then your Posable leader only player that could pull the team together your QB gets what now looks like a season ending injury. Coach O then has personal issues which distracted him in a year that needed his total attention. Coach O let the team down. ( PERSONAL OPINION Now on the coaching hires they were wrong not because of the skill they bring to the team but they lack the ability TO RELATE TO THE TEAM they have AGED OUT. )

Started early in 2020 when Coach O's wife filed for divorce. If you know a little of their backstory, it really made one wonder what the hell was going on there. Bo Pelini hire was a 2nd sign for me. A lot of 'experts' praised it and I wanted to believe, but never could think it was even remotely a good thing. When Jamar Chase opted out before the season started, my first thought was that it had little to do with the covid situation, that something was coming undone and he was getting off a sinking ship while there were still lifeboats. I hoped it was just my tendency to think worse case scenario about everything. The Miss State game confirmed my fears were real. Given everything that's come out and happened since then, one has to wonder if the low this is headed to is going to totally eclipse the high of the 2019 season. I was a fan of Coach O's hiring, and may still be a fan in the future, but if a full house cleaning is what needs to happen, then so be it.

Then the University hires said offensive coordinator and in 7 years has made him the highest paid coach in the SEC who has 3 wins against Coach Saban since 2013 and is 0 and 12 on the road against it's 3 top rivalries.... The Emperors New Clothes
Two swindlers (Bo Pelini, Scott Linehan) arrive at the capital city (LSU) of an emperor (Ed Orgeron) who spends lavishly on clothing (Blonde Chicks etc) at the expense of state (Football) matters. Posing as weavers (Coaches), they offer to supply him with magnificent clothes (Defense, Passing Game) that are invisible to those who are stupid or incompetent. The emperor hires them, and they set up looms and go to work (Practice). A succession of officials (Scott Woodward), and then the emperor himself, visit them to check their progress. Each sees that the looms are empty but pretends otherwise to avoid being thought a fool. Finally, the weavers report that the emperor's suit is finished. They mime dressing him and he sets off in a procession before the whole city (2020 Season). The townsfolk (Fans) uncomfortably go along with the pretense, not wanting to appear inept or stupid, until a child blurts out that the emperor is wearing nothing at all. The people then realize that everyone has been fooled. Although startled, the emperor continues the procession, walking more proudly than ever.

Then even in this recruiting class you know that you need at least 3-4 OL that can come in start their freshmen year but when your ego gets in the way and you don’t hire coaches who can design new schemes for today’s players and you want to smile taking pictures with someone young enough to be your daughter that chaos and so your boys have a chaos season. Yeah. It's the culture. After having success at LSU, why do you suppose Saban went to Alabama? He inherited a culture that knew what it had to do to win National Championships. Since the 60s any discussion about a national champion (real or mythical as it was for decades) had Alabama on the short list. Clemson and Ohio State have been climbing that hill for thirty years. Yeah, they won some but they weren't on the year-in, year out short list until the last ten years.
Did Joe Burrow damage the LSU culture. Since the 60s, LSU has always been about ferocious defense and hopefully enough offense to win. Worked occasionally, but LSU was always in the conversation. Burrow and the 2019 offense gave LSU the ability to come back. Now the defense has collapsed.

You lose your QB early in the season and are now playing musical chair for which freshman will start at QB. You lose your best players to opting out before and during the season. So all this happens plus you had no offseason and not many summer practices plus random weeks 10+ players catch covid and have to quarantine for multiple weeks....... and everyone expects them to be near the top of the SEC......... next year they’ll be back. Coach O this is what happens when you talk shit after the game last year. I do give you props for winning last year but LSU is 1 and 9 against Alabama in the last 10 years, so we should be talking shit like you did last year. I don’t mind fans talking shit to each other, but when it comes down to the head coach it should never happen. You’re lucky Saban called off the dogs.

I think it has everything to do with racial issues. Some players skipped practice before the season and marched. Then they had a meeting and and some of the players didn’t feel supported. With all the opt outs and then looking at the QB situation. This Is just an idea I have. Because of the racial tension Coach O starts Finley over Max. Max was supposedly leading as the back up guy. Then you watch them play ( Finley definitely has talent and potential) but in my opinion Max is better and it’s not close. Couple that with the fact that after the Bama game Coach O says they may start Max next week. Then on Monday this guy doesn’t come to practice and decides to opt out. Just an awful lot of coincidences in my opinion.
Now if Coach didn’t support the narrative of defund the police and rioting in the streets and that caused a rift with some of the players, I completely stand behind him on that. And good for him for not selling his soul to win football games.
Racism is bad. Before you call me a racist.

7-3 is a down year. This is deeper, how much deeper is the question.

@@jeraldvickery4166 Nah 2-3 losses is per usual for LSU, usually 2, 1 is a great year, but this is just embarrassing for them lol
