7 years later and this vid is still helping people. Thank you sir.
This video saved my life lol after replacing the radiator and adding coolant it started over heating and boiling,I did the procedure in the video and now no overheating, thank you.
How the hell do you not have a million subs? You’re by far the best, most informative mechanic channel on CZcams IMO.
Wow….those are some very kind words. I do appreciate it. Wish it was that easy lol.
Hey what does it means when your top hose on your radiator is cold and the bottom is hot what should I check?
2014 Dodge Challenger rt keeps running hot after warming up and running for about an hour.
@@tyvoneprice74 you probably need a bottom hose
I AGREE GET CHANNEL, PUTING A WATER PUMP IN MY 06 GRAND TODAY 5.7 ,,,, 174K
A professional mechanic. I have watched ten vids on the air pocket. This one had it all. Thanks David.
David,
Thank you for creating your videos. They are HUGELY HELPFUL !!! Please keep producing them !!!!
Finally! Someone that knows what they are doing. The breakdown of the coolant flow and the purge port for the air was excellent! You'll do well! I subscribed immediately!
Thank you MotorCity Mechanic, your videos have helped me do a lot of projects to my Ram.
You are awesome brother 👍🏻 my family and I have had 8 hemi powered mopars since 03 and we had to crack the seal for the very first time. Water pump went bad on my 2013 R/T. I replaced it yesterday with a mopar pump and this helped me bleed the system property. I will like and subscribe!
NIce ! I never even considered air trapped there , I always added antifreeze until it quit taking it . Very informative video and well presented , Thanks
Thanks a lot. Just replaced my radiator in my 06 5.7 Charger Daytona. Your videos both helped me out a lot. Watched the video and got,it done within the hour.
Wow....great job and quick as well. Thanks for using my video to take on that repair. Much appreciated and make sure to subscribe
Just attempted this and it worked! Thank you so much for sharing this!!!!
Dang. Got a blower port beside your Arby's to-go and hat is in race position. This dude is truly unstoppable.
Thank you for the real vid, sir!
I used your technique and it worked great. Thanks for taking time to make video.
That's amazing thank you so much.. I was just about to fill everything and I realized I have to believe the air somehow. Really appreciate it brother, keep it up
I love it. I've had my nitro for a year and was pleasantly surprised that the 3.7 has a simular plug. It seems that all newer chryslers do. I use to do a simular procedure on previous cars by pulling an upper heater hose. I had a bad overheat once due to following the "run with the cap open" method.
Most dont know about the bleeder and others think you need to be running the engine to use it. Engine cold and plug removed...add until it comes out the hole. Simple enough and save alot of time. Thanks for watching and for the comment. Make sure to subscribe!
I'll be replacing the coolant in my '14 R/T in a few days. Good video, great information! 👍
Thanks for stopping by and watching the video Brandon. Make sure to subscribe if you havent already.
This video saved my day! For some weird reason my 2006 Jeep commander started over heating after getting it about a month ago(with no issues) it did not boil over or loose coolant! No engine lights, no sputtering! Just the temp gage went to red. So my dad and I replaced the thermostat. Which looked band new! So we replaced the water pump. It looked good when we got it off. Also the ECTS. Still over heated after adding 50/50 coolant! Then! I Found this video! So thanks!
Heater hose connected to the coolant tank busted. Coolant kept making a weird gurgling noise when it was cooling down. This video helped me removed all that trapped air. Hope you continue making more of these cause it really saved me.
Thanks Junior for watching the video and glad that it helped out. I will certainly keep making videos as long as people watch them. Make sure to subscribe.
This video save me so much time and money when I changed out my water pump. I literally was trying to figure out how to bleed the systems without fancy tools and this video popped up. Part 2 of this video saved me because the bleeder screw was hot and I didnt have an allen wrench big to fit. So I used the coolant temp side.
Awesome.....glad that the video helped. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Dont forget to subscribe Brian.
@@MotorCityMechanic I can't find the bleeder on my 08 ram 1500 5 .7
I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with the 5.7 hemi I changed my water pump and did it like the guy said and worked great
Awesome. Glad it worked out. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe.
Awesome video David. Very easy to follow. Thanks.
Thanks for the help! I was getting frustrated with bleeding my system
This saved my headache for something else. Love it! Thanks!
Glad I could help. Appreciate you finding the channel and for checking one of my videos out. Make sure to subscribe and check a few more out when you get time.
Worked like a charm. Temp dead center sir. Thanks again. Subscribed
Thanks David very informative video and you explained in a very simpler way. Well done!
That was super helpful, I just replaced the leaking thermostat on my 5.7 ‘15 Challenger and bled it perfectly. Thank you!
Something you should also do while the car is running, turn on your heater in your car, that will open up your thermostat and will let you get the proper amount of coolant in your moter and also give you a more accurate level when filling your car with antifreeze,I did learn that.
THANKS FOR THE INFO!!!! Helped out alot!!!! Saved me 180.00 Bucks!! a local mechanic was going to charge that much, i appreciate it sir!
Really? wow......thats a bit much for something so simple. Glad you decided to search online and ended up at my video. Thanks for checking it out and make sure to subscribe!
Thanks very much. Great video. I have an 05 hemi with plug but a 98 without. Such a pain filling the 98. I use the vacuum filling system tool for that now though.
Thanks! Great tip on getting the air out of the hemi. From another Motor City native.
Great video. Helped me after changing hoses and water pump on my Durango RT
You rocked this topic thank you for the video
Dude your videos are awesome..helped with my Durango radiator replacement
Thanks! Glad the video helped and thanks for checking the channel out. Make sure to subscribe
Once again David. You are the best!!
Many thanks troy!
Thanks a million my dude. My heater stopped blowing hot air so I replaced the thermostat...still didnt work. After a little research I stumbled upon this and tried it. There must have been a sizeable air bubble trapped because once I took out the plug I was able to add another 1/2 gallon of coolant and hot air returned! Subbed.
Awesome. Glad that it worked out in the end. Its a common cause for the heater to not work properly for sure. Thanks for taking the time to comment and to watch the video. Make sure to subscribe.
Hey so if the heat dont work its cuz its clogged? Its because I tried this method but nothing came out
Maaaaaan you’re a life saver. Definitely got a new subscriber. I just replaced my timing chain and was trying to burp the system be it was a b**ch and a half.
Again, well done. Best to you and yours.
Thanks again!
Thanks, great vid. Appreciate the tips and techniques. Central BC, Canada
Thanks for the info. I had a side job coolant temp 3/4 towards hot. Previous guy put a water pump and thermostat. Trying to figure out what happened. Started to drain the coolant. 1/4 of a bucket, that's it. Then pull the thermostat. The coolant was not full. I found the plug. That guy never bled the air out. Had to verify the bleed port. Thanks a lot. You answer my question. 🎉😊
Video is 5 years old but still very helpful. For anybody doing this on a jeep commander you will have to remove the box connecting to your air box and your throttle body to get to the bleeder valve. Once that box is out the way it’s clearly visible just like in the video
Was your Jeep commander overheating? I just replaced the thermostat, water pump, and coolant temp sensor on my 06 5.7 hemi commander. And it still shows it overheating. However, I just found this video and this vent port. Thanks!
Thanks for this video, David!
Your welcome! It was something that I learned the hard way over the years. Thanks for the comment and make sure to subscribe!
Thanks Dave ...you have another subscriber ...you are a good bloke
Thank you very much for posting the video. I greatly appreciate it and find it very helpful. Thumbs Up!
David, goodness as always. Thanks for keeping us on the road.
Always glad to do my part Jack! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend
thank you very much for posting this video !!!!!
Never knew this 5.7 had a bleeder valve. I definitely think you are a lifesaver. My engine didn't overheat, but the coolant reservoir acts like it wants to explode everyday. It's hot here in Texas, so I had to flush, and now bleed. I certainly hope that resolves the issue.
Thanks for watching. Hopefully that helps your situation.
I have this same issue in Texas. I'm going to try doing this as well after replacing the coolant tank the other day.
I just replaced my coolant reservoir the other day and it acts like it wants to overheat and the temperature gage gets to the half way mark on the dash and when I turn the car off after driving it, it sounds like its boiling. I'm gonna try bleeding it and see if this works for me and my charger
Great instructional video. If I have room & can find drain cock that will fit into port will install it for future drop & fill collant swaps. Nice to have a pro making a video. Thank you sir!
I have a 5.7 so this is very helpful, thanks.
You never know when you might need that bit of information
Straight, no bullshit and to the point. Nice job 😎
Excellent explanation!

Your welcome and thanks for checking this video out. Make sure to subscribe.
Awesome video! Just replaced my thermostat and I knew there was more to replacing the coolant than just filling the bottle.
Any issues yet? I replaced my thermostat last week and now my temp gauge runs around 194 when driving but has reached 225 at idling. Fan quit working as well. Worked fine before replacing my thermostat. Fuses and relays are fine. Didn't bleed the system last week either so gonna start there. Still the fan should kick on with these hot temps.
You got a new follower, very good content
thanks for the fast response but is now working
MnA LANDSCAPING Cool. If you get time.....let me know the issue and what you might have done to make it work. Other viewers read the comments and yours might help someone else with a similar issue
This dude save a big headache an I appreciate you. ✅✅✅
Always happy to help how ever I can
Helped us on our 07 Chrysler 300 hemi radiator job. Thanks!
Awesome! Glad I could share I little knowledge.
I actually filled it up there, worked great also
Glad it worked out and thanks for checking out the video.
This guy os so awesome!
working on a 5.7 Hemi dodge charger police edition. Vehicle was over heating while my daughter was driving. Thank God she pulled over and turned off the car. It did get hot enough to hiss from the radiator cap and spit out some coolant. I put a new thermostat and radiator cap. Car still overheated but temperature gauge was still in the middle. I believe air is in the system so tomorrow I will bleed it cold just like this video and change our the fan. Its one big fan....not two. I tested the fan by running a wire from the positive side of the battery to the positive side and the negative to the negative side of the plug in of the fan. Two wires going into a three prong but I aligned them with the wires. Fan wouldn't cut on. Fans wasn't working while car or AC running. No crack head or anything. No milky color on dip stick or inside where you pour in the oil. Coolant not leaking and water pump sounds fine. I'm thinking it has two issues.....air in the system and a bad fan. Will fix tomorrow. Your thoughts?
Thanks , Mike from N J , i will go ahead and do my trucks radiator tonight .
Thank you 😊 friend.
That is really good info

Thanks for finding the video Corey.
Thanks!!!!!!! VERY good INFO
Thanks again for another great video man,I have been a subscriber for over a year now,but this time It helped me with my Vehicle-16 r/t charger, all your other videos I watched were for customers cars LOL,,but after flushing my cooling system I decided to junk the stock 205 T-stat,and use the Jet 180 with a 70/30 mix of water to OAT,Royal Purple Ice, and your bleeding advice I went from running 215-to 220 degrees in the desert heat-Las Vegas ,to 190-195 in serious stop N go traffic! Thanks again motor city! Keep up the great vids! and next time your in Sin City look me up,I feel like I owe you a first class Hooker for as much good advice your vids have given me Over the last year,LOL
I have to say thats the first time someone offered to repay me in that manner lol! Glad it all turned out well. I have viewers in Iraq that are fighting the same high temps. Seems swapping thermostats is about the only thing to help. Thanks for the info and for following the channel for a long time now.
MotorCity Mechanic ,Your welcome Motor City ,Keep the vids
Coming and we'll be here watching !!!

According to the shop manual, there should be some cylinder block drain plugs as well. I'm trying to figure out where those are as well. This is really helpful however.
Thank you so much. I have an air pocket to beat hell and you probaby just saved my engine.
Your videos are great , thank you for making them, we need one on LIMP HOME mode , it is tricky with the TIPM and the PCM controlling it, the most with the code i've seen is PO882---- 2009-2012
I will certainly keep that in mind as a future video. Thanks for the request and for checking this video out. Make sure to subscribe.
