Beautiful trail/area. Heads up ! my car was broken into in that lot south of the basin where the pemi bike path goes east under the highway. ( I think they used moutainbike/s and a lookout in the tunnel)

Wow… beautiful scenery. I am you being able to hike with your dog. I haven’t had a dog for a number of years and used to do short hikes in Maryland with my Wheaton Terrier Cody. He so enjoyed being in the snow too. But he would get so many snow knots on his legs & underbody I would need to soak him in cool water in my kitchen sink to deice him per se. Hope you. There is a product called Mushers secret- kind of bag balm consistency that prevents the snowball/ice toe bean syndrome from happening…the struggle is real.❤️🐾🐾❤️
Ooooo how exciting! I have a German Shepherd…he is not a huge hiker but will go on shorter hikes. His thing is running and playing soccer w me. He has me trained well😂🐾🐾

I've lived in northern MA and southern NH for about 40 years. There have always been wild swings in snowfall from year to year. The biggest change is that the lowest actual temp (not wind chill or feel) of the year used to be quite a lot colder. I used to see -20F or colder, even -23F or-26F, every 5 years or so, but haven't seen it in about 25 years. It's become very unusual to see even -15F. But years with very deep snow have become more common, and deeper. Warmer air can hold more moisture, so when a storm stalls and dumps, it can be really deep now. But there have been more years with less snow also. Sure seems more random and volatile than it used to be. Some of this could be luck of the draw as to the exact places I've lived, but some of it seems true everywhere up here, judging from road snowbank sizes, etc.
What spikes do you use? I'm considering a pair even though I live in Georgia as I winter hike in the Smokies and mountains of NC and TN. Thanks for the video!
I'm curious what your winter footwear set up is. Looks like some kind of high tops and micro spikes. Any kind of special socks or other winter specific gear?

I was up there a few weeks ago, we got lucky and the clouds broke for us when we got up to the lake, gorgeous views when clear!!
