HOW TO UPHOLSTER A FOOTSTOOL | ROUND CORNERS | SQUARE CORNERS UPHOLSTERY | FaceLiftInteriors - Jak na to + styl
Hi Guys!! Come and follow me over on Instagram too 🙂👍 instagram.com/faceliftinteriors
You’re sooo good. You explain it all so well. I totally reupholstered my lovely 1940s chair following your video on that (it looks amazing) and now I’m covering an old square stool. I couldn’t work out how to make the corners neat...now I do. Thanks for posting. You’re amazing 👍
Hi Debbie! That’s exactly what I like to hear and the reason I make these videos, I’m so glad you’ve found them helpful 😊 thank you for watching them and for leaving a comment, it’s really appreciated!
Thanks! I bought a secondhand footstool that was perfect for my chair and space but the cushion was low and wrecked. I understood how to replace what was there with the same height but wasn’t sure how to make the cushion deeper. Your video explained it perfectly. Thanks so much for taking the time to make and post this video.
Glad to be of help. Thanks for watching 😊 🙏 🧵 ✂️ ⛏️ 📐
I spent 3 hours working on a round chair seat for a friend so finally decided to let good enough alone and perfect it some other time. It is a lot easier for me to center a pattern on a square seat! The experience reminded me of trying to trim my daughter’s hair and every time I snipped one side to make it even, the other side needed a little more snipped, on and on until I had to quit because her hair was getting too short!
Have said it before and am saying it again - You're good at what you do and explaining it too. Thanks for another video.
Thank you so much again Lavinia 😊🙏🏻
Brilliant, off to the garage to cover my footstool!!!
Glad you found it helpful!! 😊
Done it! Was so easy! I’ll be looking for more videos, thank you

Thanks for watching, glad you found it helpful 😊
Man shot 200 times with upholstery gun, surgeons say he is now fully recovered
🤣👏🏻
Your joke has got me in stitches
Great work... but could you think about repositioning your camera at times? Sometimes your shoulder or sleeve gets in the way of your hands... I'm trying to copy your excellent technique.
Hi Janet, thanks for watching! Apologies, sometimes it’s really difficult to get the best shot when you’re filming yourself whilst working but I’ve really tired to improve on that in my newer videos 🙏🏻
Excellent work and excellent video!! This is very helpful. Thank you!
Thank you Tracy! That’s really kind. Thank you for watching!!

Go for it! 🤗 Thank you so much for watching my videos, it really means a lot!
Could you do a viedo on a rectangle one , nice job.
Hi Richie - not sure if this video would be any use to you? czcams.com/video/XlAoA622BvI/video.html 👍🏻
Hi, thank you for the videos, they are very informative! Question, can you use the same sewing method (corners) done on the square stool using vinyl fabric? I'm a novice trying to re upholster my dinning chairs with vinyl. Your feedback is greatly appreciate!
Hi there! Thank you for watching, it’s really appreciated! Yes you can use this technique with vinyl too 😊
Hi! Could you please offer some more explanation for how you decided how deep to cut the corners while allowing for enough seam allowance at 5:55?
Hi Alex! The corners were at the finish size of the footstool plus half inch seam allowance on each side. So the footstool finish size was 14 inches and I drew the lines 15 inches (7.5 either side of the centre line) which gave me my half inch seam allowance on both sides. The footstool was square so the same measurements on each side. I hope this makes sense 😊👍🏻
The 1/4 inch foam... on the round footstool...it looks stretchy? What is it called?
Hi, i would ask what stapler do you use? Thanks for your answer....K.
It's an upholstery staple gun. There should be a link in the description...🤔👍⛏️✂️📐🧵
Neil I love this fabric, where is it from and what is it called please? I’m new at upholstering bits and have a chair that I would like to attempt.... thanks. Julie
Hi Julie! This fabric is by Sunbury Design and it’s called ‘Cavalli Guava’. It’s a really lovely fabric!
any advice on how large space an upholstering studio should be?
Hi! Sorry for the slow response - I would say for a single person you’d need around 500 square foot.
thank you for the video! My grandfather was a cobbler, and I have some decent sized pieces of leather I would like to upholster bar stools with to remember him by. Unfortunately I can't seem to find out where to get just the legs, or bases for them. Do you have any info on this?
Hmm depends on where you are in the world?
In the UK I use Livedale, Clockwork components, Martins Upholstery Supplies.
Thanks for watching! 👍⛏️🧵📐✂️
On the square footstool of 15”
Square, how did you get to 26”square piece of fabric?
I was curious about the edge beading on the square foot stool. Do you find that in an upholstery;stery store?
Hi Kevin, these were strip studs and you can get them at any upholstery suppliers 😊👍🏻
hi, i would like to ask if you added allowance to the corner where you cut out and sewed? i saw some tutorials they do add for sewing.
So sorry for the delay in responding, I didn’t see your comment. Yes, I added a half inch each side for the sewing allowance 👍🏻
where exactly did u measure at to get the 26”? and do you always add 1” for the corner cut out? (the 15”) i want to make sure i have enough to make it to the underneath on mine.
So 26" is the total size allowing enough to be stapled off underneath. Then the corners must be 15" apart but I always allow 1" for sewing. Hope this helps 🙏 ☺️ ✂️ 📐 🧵⛏️
Vinyl round corners is that possible? 😬
Yea definitely! Use heat (a hairdryer works well) to heat the vinyl up and it will stretch better. After that, use the same technique 👍🏻
Where did you get the 15 inches from is that the sides
Hi Doreen! I cut the fabric 26 by 26 inches to have enough to staple it off underneath. Then the 15 inches is the exact measurement of the box itself (plus half inch seam allowance each side for sewing - the box measures 14 inches). So then the corners once cut out and sewn together will sit perfectly on the corners of the box. I hope this makes sense!
@@faceliftinteriors thank you guys you are the best... I've got it now 😉am recovering a large cushion top pouffee hopefully this turns out good 😉😁
You’re welcome Doreen! Good luck with it, I’m sure it will turn out great 😊👍🏻
Can l know measure cloth
Hi there! Do you mean how much fabric did I use on these? The square stool was 26inches but 26inches. I hope that helps.
How can I get to you I am in may pen
Where?
why are you licking that?
Hi Robert - it activates the chalk and makes it easier to draw on the fabric 👍🏻
Rounded corners; isn't that an oxymoron?
Was wondering how long it would take someone to point that out 🤣
