  • Horseshoe Dam is on the Verde River 58 miles northeast of Phoenix. It was built from 1944-46. The dam is named for the horseshoe bend in the Verde River at the dam site. The site is picturesque and the sights and sounds of the rapidly flowing water were both calming and thrilling.
