    That is why I recently got the TM9K TAC instead of this. Smaller and compact in your hands. The turbo doesn't really matter to me because even in 2000 lumens high mode, still impressive light output. Also, the battery life was great.

    • @Studat
      @Studat Před 2 lety +2

      I went for the p20ix as it's 4000 lumens and lasts a lot longer plus the battery is removable.

    • @jonathanhempshire8303
      @jonathanhempshire8303 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Studat yeah but when the time goes by, Nitecore will be releasing another high powered flashlight and my goal here is upgrading the lumen power from time to time. The burst mode of the TM9K TAC doesn't bother me because personally the heat that builds up in this tiny light is real. And that's keeping you out from overusing the turbo/burst mode. The p20ix is nice but I already had the T4K which has also 4000 lumen mode. Battery on the p20ix is removable, but what we should see here is the LIFESPAN of the led's. When the led's are dead, replacing the battery won't help anymore. That is why Nitecore designed their high powered flashlights to have built-in battery because they already counted the lifespan on the led together with the battery inside.

    • @Studat
      @Studat Před 2 lety +2

      @@jonathanhempshire8303 The LEDs will outlast the battery 100% and having the ability to replace a battery during the night is a must. Once the battery is depleted on the tac it's done until you recharge it. I have a similar problem with my Olight Marauder 2 but at least that has 3 21700s built in so I can get though a night of use no worries. Plus the 14,000 lumens on the Olight lasts much longer the 7 seconds.
      Nitecore do make amazing torches but I keep away from the high output ones as they seem to be a gimmick. The MH25s, P20ix and P30i are my go to Nitecores.

    • @jonathanhempshire8303
      @jonathanhempshire8303 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Studat yeah I know that the marauder is great but it's much more expensive than the TM9K TAC and is heavier and bigger. Not really friendly when you carry a bunch of flashlights. Note that not all turbo mode (14,000) will NOT last for hours, it will stepdown quickly for at least 45 seconds. The marauder only has a bigger battery than the TM9K TAC but it's just physics. Once the heat kicks in, and you always use the burst mode, it will definitely kill your led's and it will deplete faster than the expected lifespan.

    • @Studat
      @Studat Před 2 lety +1

      @@jonathanhempshire8303 is don't think it's that much mud experience and I find it holds turbo for well over a minute which is extremely useful as opposed to 6 or 7 seconds. Plus the levels below are still crazy bright and they hold those levels for a long time.
      With Nitecore I always look at the high mode as in most occasions the turbo will be a very very short burnt. I see the Tac as a 2000 lumen light.

    Thanks, you just gave me the desire to buy it! But for everyone the non replacable battery is a big minus bla, bla bla... For me, an ordinary user who sometimes does camping is just perfect ! Let me be clear : I know nothing about so-called "professional" use or the 1860/21700 something, I just notice that it lights enough and that's enough for me as Ms Nobody. I'll use it to replace my old one with batteries (boring to charge them especially since I don't use it everyday and in France, in Paris, we don't have power cut) and I want that especially because it has a USB charging, so for taking my (French) wine from the cave, go to camping this torchlight will simply be perfect.

  • @electriceyeslide5959

    Here's the thing with these lights, the turbo mode is for use cases where you need an intense beam of light for a very short amount of time, such as signaling for Search and Rescue. The turbo mode should be renamed "Burst" mode. These companies use the mode to sell lights but anyone who collects these knows its the second to the highest number that really matters. I have multiple Imalent lights and it's the same story with those.
    Imalent makes a better light for the money that lasts longer, is brighter, has better throw distances, spill, and is cheaper. They make a 100,000 lumen light that's INSANE.
    REMEMBER, THESE LIGHTS ARE INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE TREATED LIKE FIREARMS. They can permanently blind a person and the Turbo Mode is actually suggested for Self-Defense. You could really blind a would be attacker on a night time walk or even an animal looking to harm you.
    I one time got hit in the eyes for about 1 second with 5,000 lumens and I'm SUPER CAREFUL, and I had to go in a dark room and close my eyes for about an hour or two before the retina burn went away. I actually got VERY LUCKY and as dumb as the situation was that led to this, it made me realize that these lights truly should be treated like guns and kept out of sight from CHILDREN.
    That incident really scared me and I thought I had permanently damaged my eyes. BE VERY CAREFUL HANDLING THESE PEOPLE.

      I always say that most lights have a burst mode, and should be advertised as whatever lumens high mode has.
      Do this would be a 3100 lumen flashlight with a burst of 20,000 lumens.
      Also I reviewed the Imalent MS18. It lasts longer because of the built in fan and is very large. But at the same time somewhat small for just how bright it is.

    • @electriceyeslide5959
      @electriceyeslide5959 Před 2 lety +1

      @@ChrispyThings
      Yup. Much better to advertise it like that. I hate the term “Turbo” for these lights. Burst is most accurate. The MS18 is insane but it’s a bragging rights light, I can’t think of many S&R scenarios where it would be needed over the DX80 (which I have).
      The Nitecore stuff to me is just way overpriced for what you get. However, to me, the best safety wins for these lights. The Imalent lights have some interesting circuit designs for both maintaining power longer and for automatically stepping down the lumens based on temp. They are also investing in keep your hands cool with their designs.

    First of all GREAT VIDEO, very informative and answers all my questions. I own the Nitcore TM28 Tiny Monster and it has removable rechargeable batteries. The main button is own the side of the body within thumb’s distance so it was always accessible. I didn’t need to cycle through many levels to get the full effect and didn’t need to press a mode button. Yesterday, while being aware at the back of my mind about the built in battery someday coming to the end of its life on the Nitecore TM20K (as all batteries do), I STILL purchased it. HOWEVER the placement of the power button on the TAIL of the flashlight made it super inconvenient for me to use the flashlight. I was forced to hold the flashlight DOWNWARDS (head pointing at the floor) just so I could press the power button on the tail. What if there was an intruder in the house (my primary reason for buying the flashlight) or other safety concerns (I come home late from work (my other reason for buying the TM20K - self defense). The TM28 Tiny Monster serves me better because of the power button placement. I could point the TM28 Tiny Monster straight at the would be assailant, as my extends in front of me. holding this position my thumb remains pressed on the power button. As mentioned above, with the TM20K I CANNOT point the flashlight at the assailant while simultaneously pressing the power button UNLESS I hold the flashlight with my knuckles facing upwards and my thumb on the power button at the BACK of the flashlight. It’s very inconvenient to point the flashlight at the assailant this way because you cannot extend your arm forward. It’s a beautiful flashlight that someday could make a great paperweight but I’m returning it

Sure, some people might have a use for it but it seems like a race to see who can put the largest battery capacity in their flashlight then run down the batteries the quickest.
