Excellent flashlight review! This particular model has some really cool features. I especially like the heatsink on the front of it to help disperse the temperature. The threads in the tail are also a nice perk. As always, I love the camera work that you do on your reviews. Thanks a bunch!
I've been into flashlights for about 5 years now and this is my favorite light. I take this with me on my bike rides in the event that I'm riding for more than 8 hours and my Serfas True-1500 battery dies (not likely). This is an amazing light for the price. Using good batteries in this light, you can really get some long runtimes out of it. I also took it to a park at night and I could see as far as the park went in every direction. The construction is also awesome. Most of my other lights will get pretty hot, but they must have really done the thermal analysis on this one. Even on the highest setting, it does not get hot. In my opinion, this is a 10/10 light. Not only can it tailstand, but you can also use it on a tripod!
that flashlight is amazing . you wouldn't think it was capable of such brightness just by looking at the torches size and the battery runtime is fantastic . i got to get me one of these and you did a fantastic review . the best on youtube for this torch
I own this light. Very practical flashlight. I work at a science facility that requires a lab coat to be worn. The skinny shape makes it easy to wear under the lab coat. It's also easy to hold in your arm pit. I got a combo with the highest capacity nitecore batteries. I really don't keep track of the charge level, I just charge it sometimes. I have never ran out of power. Level 4 (high) is my default setting.
You did not demonstrate the lockout mode: Hold both buttons down a few seconds until you see one flash-you are now in lockout mode so the light cannot be accidentally turned on in your pocket.... You also did not go into the mode where the power button will flash for a millisecond every 2 seconds or so. This enables you to have the flashlight in a pitch black room and you always know where this flamethrower is. It can stay in that mode for days I'm guessing because it draws like no juice. I have many flashlights from many different manufacturers and I must say this at the moment is my favorite one! It's for bright that you will not believe it. It's both a flood and a thrower. Nite core makes a top quality product from top to bottom. I would love to rep for them. I could sell the hell out of this product. No matter what Nite Core you decide to get you can be confident it will be fantastic quality and produce the lumens that it says it will...Unlike all of those cheap Chinese junk lights
Hi Matt. Yes I own this exact model and without the light in front of me or even if it was I'm still not sure I could describe how to do it for you! It's tough. I push down both buttons until you see the flash. Now you are in lockout mode. I am able to go from this mode into the blue flash of the switch mode by fumbling with the buttons. It's like a women. Ya just have to figure it out. I'm sure the directions give a much more direct way.
nitecore has stated that it will run the blue flash (location flash) inside the power button continuously for about a year before the batteries need to be recharged
Philip Rosenthale i beg to differ the flashlight sucks mine was broken out of the box i sent it back to the company for repair they took 6 months for repair and they sent it back to me broken. its just overpriced chinese junk
MrChubhub22 : Your situation is about as atypical as they get. I'm firmly standing by my statements. Nitecore makes the finest quality flashlights in the world. I own about 8 different models and have never had a problem of any sort. They are made of the finest quality materials and they take a beating. Sorry you did not have the same user experience. I would get ahold of someone at Nitecore and explain your situation. They will exchange your defective product.
Thanks Living Survival!...Another great review as usual. I own the EC4S and love it!...Powerful, solid design, good feel, excellent fit & finish. You'll be able to turn a dark night on a deserted highway into a bright daylight. I use the high capacity NITECORE 3400Ah batteries with this light. Holster is almost worthless, started falling apart after a week, that's why I really don't care about nylon holsters, the only thing I miss on this light is a built-in belt clip so I can carry it secured by my side during hiking, camping, or walking the dog. I also own the Fenix LD50, another great light, and the only advantage of the LD50 over the EC4S is the belt clip and the "one battery" operation in case you lost one or want to save the other as a back-up, other than that, both models, EC4S and LD50 are similar and super bright flashlights with a minor (almost unnoticeable) difference in lumens. That's why I have them both :-)
Excellent review! Was first unsure about this flashlight but this video made me buy this. You got a really good camera and your review is very clear and methodical. I bet Nitecore would sponsor you for more excellent reviews of their flashlights!
Good video, I'll have to check out your others. Just picked this flashlight up, batteries are charging now. I WAS going to get the P36 instead because of the rotary mode control, but I'm glad I got the EC4S instead. Controls are totally logical and easy to remember. Best of all, it remembers the last setting and keeps turning on to the same brightness until you change it. That was one thing that irritated me about other flashlights: Cycling through the different modes each time. You don't know what brightness it's going to come on to next unless you remember which one it was last. Love this one so far and was playing with it using the CR123's from another light. Actually, the 400 lumen setting is fine for me in most cases. Almost blinded myself showing it to my son... took about 10 minutes for my sight to recover! Lol.
OMG YOU'RE KILLING ME! lol. I think it was your EC4 that got me to get that. I love that light so much and use it all the time and all I keep thinking is I wonder if they are ever going to come out with an upgraded version and if they did, I hope they do something to change the look *slightly* so I can tell the difference on the fly and make it more powerful - and here you show me the EC4S!! Gotta have this one!
Thanks! After having the EA4 almost burn me cause it was turned on in my back pocket, I'm always looking for some protection. My Hammer has it and my MH20 just twist a little to unsure it doesn't come on. Love Nitecore lights!!! Thanks for the great review!
Thanks for the review! I'm interested in this model but am trying to understand the distances such torches indicate in their specifications. I'm looking for high lumins but with something which puts out a long-distance beam. In your experience, does the beam this torch puts out extend far enough? The footage you posted shows that it does go some distance but is also spread out.
+Living Survival I have seen people commenting about its standby current being pretty high, stays true even for digital lockout. Is it possible to have a manual lockout by halfway unscrewing the tailcap?
Just ordered one from the Nitecore official English distributor,i do hope it lives up to my expectations,if it does itll be well worth the £153.80 i paid.!! Thats 2 x batteries,a charger and the flashlight. Its cheaper on ebay but i dont trust some of these Chinese websites.
Thanks for the awesome Review! I guess I have to have this flashlight. I have the MH20 and it`s my favorite flashlight so far. The brightest I own is the 2000 lumen TM11 which is awesome, but seems a bit clunky now compared to the EC4S.
Good review. I'm guessing it's not rechargeable???? In this day and age, I'm not sure why any company would even consider making a high end flashlight that's not rechargeable. Keep up the great work.
+Living Survival I carry this light now. Battery life and power output are great. S.O.S and beacon mode are cool features. Everyone hates the strobe, lol. I forget it's in my pocket. Search and rescue all the way!
@ Living Survival Thanks for the info video, my question is do you have any brief video which explain the different batteries used or manufactured for EC4S. The reason being is I would like to get the full range of features from the flashlight and I would like to use the best batteries for the product. Thanks
Thrunite Now has TN 42 CREE XHP70 HI LEDs with an ultra-long distance of 1550 meters. Now Nitecore TM16GT is lagging behind again. Just when can the New Nitecore TM16GTX extreme Diving Edition with 4 pc CREE XHP70 HI LEDs with 1600 meters plus plus Throw range come? Thrunite has 1550m throw range but Nitecore do not have. Why? Just When you can release your New product!
Love the light, love the review. I just wish it had USB recharging capability. Can you recommend a light similar this this light's features that has USB recharging? Great job, as always, with your channel!
+Jeff Kline fenix pd35 or the mh20 by nitecore are two of my favorite rechargeables although they are in the 1000 lumen range. honestly i just take a smaller rechargeable light that will recharge the 18650 and then you can use the other light to recharge the batteries from a solar panel/battery bank etc.
+Living Survival Thanks for the quick feedback and the suggestions. I really appreciate it. You're a class act with the best channel of this type. Be well brother.
They make it so you can only use Nitecore 18650's by raising the Positive ends of there batteries so a regular 18650 won't work! I fixed this by adding washers to both positive terminals! now any 18650 will work
I was just choosing between Thrunite TN12 and TC10V2 and now you come with this and i am really not sure if this or the TN 12, its also the same price considering your awesome coupon
How much power or size do you really need? The TN12 has far more efficient moonlight (90 days is way over 300 odd hours) and low (though this one is only some 20 lumens, well below the EC4S's one, though its low runs for more than 4 days) modes, is more compact (uses only one single 18650) and has a tactical-ish tail switch. It's quite a bit less luminous and has less throw in comparable modes, on the other hand. It really boils down to what you like best or need most.
The moonlight mode is a big + for me, i complained a lot about too bright flashlights when trying to read books at night lol, the size and brightness ratio here is seriously worthy of consideration, i hoped for an EDC flashlight thats why i ended with TN12 as my main choice but this isnt that much bigger... this is really frustrating :)
Also heep in mind that while the EC4S may not be that much bigger, just the extra battery alone makes it a good bit heavier than the Thrunites you mentioned. Weight is more of a thing than people might think at first.
is there a catch with that website? they have flashlights that put out 600lm and have multiple modes for like 4 bucks. and free shipping lol. sounds too good to be true, but if not... my wife is gona be pissed when all the flashlights get here lol
I just bought one for 299 and like it alot but hope its real because it has no markings on the knife to say what it is like the flashlight also gonna byy one vids are great
Can you carry this comfortably in your pocket? I currently carry the Fenix PD35 pretty comfortably but this one has over twice the lumens so if it can fit in my pocket I'm going to buy this one.
+Living Survival Okay thanks. I'll look up the exact measurements for this flashlight. I think the PD35 is comfortable because it's skinny and I have pretty deep pocket but the EC4S seems oddly shaped. Even if it can't fit in my pocket it seems like a great light to have, think I'll buy it.
Před 8 lety+1
I carry it in my blue jeans sometimes, and it doesn't bother me.
Hei CZcams Fan, Pls Speak to Nitecore just when will Nitecore release the Nitecore TM16GTX Titan with 4-XHP-70 at 9000++Lumen & 1600m Throw range. We Know Nitecore can do it & Built it. That what you want & what we All wants too. Pls be Serious, Built it Diver Proof, Tiny & Flawless.
+Toxic Slice they only have the coupon available for several days until they sell out. gotta be quick. I will have some more lights coming up soon with codes. subscribe not to miss it.
Excellent flashlight review! This particular model has some really cool features. I especially like the heatsink on the front of it to help disperse the temperature. The threads in the tail are also a nice perk. As always, I love the camera work that you do on your reviews. Thanks a bunch!
+TheUrbanPrepper It is amazing to me how cool it stays. Much cooler than 1000 lumen ones without the same design.
+Living Survival COOL

they have a limited edition one out now :)

Good revue Playboy! Nice flashlight, the modes and max output... on that light are BEEPING Sweet.
+Tyler Murphy ;)
+Living Survival ( :
Cool I have been going back and forth on a flash light to buy for a month, this is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks
+sean john you won't be disappointed. jump on that deal with the code. can't be beat.
+Living Survival I tried, don't think it works for me, I'm from Canada
sean john really? it should
No Canada shipping? That's odd.
+Living Survival had my cookies disabled on my phone I think that's why it kept screwing me around
OMG YOU'RE KILLING ME! lol. I think it was your EC4 that got me to get that. +Wavester64 HAHA, sorry.
sir this flashlight underwater or not?
That's an awesome flashlight!! I expected the price to be way higher....must get one
+terrell lacour ;)
Thanks! After having the EA4 almost burn me cause it was turned on in my back pocket, I'm always looking for some protection. My Hammer has it and my MH20 just twist a little to unsure it doesn't come on. Love Nitecore lights!!! Thanks for the great review!
+Joe Rodriguez yeah unfortunately on this light the tail cap trick doesnt work.
Thanks for the review! I'm interested in this model but am trying to understand the distances such torches indicate in their specifications. I really like the shape. Not just another cylinder.
+PREPFORIT agreed.
Have you seen KLARUS RS30 ?
Wow, very COOL flashlight. :)
+FuwaForestFilmsHD i agree, thanks for watching.
Whats up with the hair dude
Very nice lantern,nitecore the best
Thanks bro for your review, a very good review that I can visualize how bright it is in real life as well as its beam pattern! Great work!
+Elijah Khoo thanks :)
+Living Survival I have seen people commenting about its standby current being pretty high, stays true even for digital lockout. Is it possible to have a manual lockout by halfway unscrewing the tailcap?
Elijah Khoo not really on this one brother as you have to unscrew it until it pops off to get it to not work. just tried it.
Nice flashlight, thx for showing.
+Graham Mitchell nice.
Great video dude... Gonna get this soon... Very tempting... Like the model
Just wondering : 6:00 If it does´t get hot on the heatsinks that means that the heat is not getting out. That´s the opposite of what I want...
It's not rechargeable itself, but the batteries are removable and rechargeable. As long as you use 18650's, of course.
+Gunner193 right.
Great light review Ben! Nice light!
+guns4funcajanajustin thanks boss.
Have you reviewed KLARUS RS30 and what is your opinion over the Nitecore EC4S ? Thank you.
Beautiful!
+Nitecore Video Channel thx
what are your top 4 flashlights that use 18650's? and your top 3 choices for weapon lights? thanks
the light is amazing. the coupon code is flat out wtf $39 off my order awesome!
+SONofZEUS welcome to my channel :)
+Living Survival I carry this light now. Battery life and power output are great. S.O.S and beacon mode are cool features. Everyone hates the strobe, lol. I forget it's in my pocket. Search and rescue all the way!

Thanks
can't go wrong with nitecore batteries. most are re-wraps of panasonic or sanyos.
Looks to have a warm color temp. Is the color on the yellowish side?
I have this light. it's the typical plain white led light that nite core flahslights have. No yellow at all.
thanks :)
Thrunite Now has TN 42 CREE XHP70 HI LEDs with an ultra-long distance of 1550 meters.

Jeff Kline thanks Jeff, comments like this keep me going man.
One more thing. Yes I am aware that Nite Core lights are made in China. But the quality is fantastic. Remember where the iPhone is made...
Great review...I really thought it flowed well and was informative...please fix the focus issue on your camera though. :)
+Trubyd44 have since done that thanks.
Excellent flashlight review good job
They make it so you can only use Nitecore 18650's by raising the Positive ends of there batteries so a regular 18650 won't work! I fixed this by adding washers to both positive terminals! now any 18650 will work
just found video lol ur fast man lol great videos awesome... ec4 is my favorite
+jorge martinez thanks for watching and the comment.
I have regular one is this version way brighter? got tm36 beast all I gotta say
How far away is the treeline at 9:47
Damn thats bright , and great review
Thank you
I was just choosing between Thrunite TN12 and TC10V2 and now you come with this and i am really not sure if this or the TN 12, its also the same price considering your awesome coupon

+magicshon neither of those lights even compare to this light.
The moonlight mode is a big + for me, i complained a lot about too bright flashlights when trying to read books at night lol, the size and brightness ratio here is seriously worthy of consideration, i hoped for an EDC flashlight thats why i ended with TN12 as my main choice but this isnt that much bigger... this is really frustrating :)

yeah thats true.. plus i would have to have TWO spare batteries for long trips at least, which doubles the weight again
Does it have a mode to make sure the light doesn't turn on while being carried?
+Joe Rodriguez not sure this one has a lockout.
Such a good review!
I am looking for a flashlight like the EC4s, but with a built in Miro-USN Charger
That's all a person would need just the right size to keep in the pack
+DpKxREVO i have the ec45s coming up with is the 1000 lumen smaller die-cast version. that should be cool as well.
So it's been 2 months and I really want this flash light but I need that coupon code ( it's not in the description) could you please tell me??
Best 18650s for this light? Any information would be greatly appreciated. 👍🔦
nitecore, fenix, olight, thrunite---they are just re-wrapped sanyo, panasonic, sony etc.
+Living Survival Thanks for your input and your time.
nice flashlight and review!
+MountainMan thanks man, hope all is well.
i'm trying....thank you Ben!
will 8000mAh battery works?
this would be a really good flashlight if it had usb charger port
+Kevin B yeah, i always carry a rechargeable one in my pack so if i had to I could use that to recharge the batteries and swap them out.
is there a catch with that website? they have flashlights that put out 600lm and have multiple modes for like 4 bucks. and free shipping lol.
sounds too good to be true, but if not... my wife is gona be pissed when all the flashlights get here lol
+Tom Tomson hit and miss with those.
Hey Ben what are your thoughts on the rat worx chain drive knife
+Steve Gareau I've never tested one. Maybe in the future.
I just bought one for 299 and like it alot but hope its real because it has no markings on the knife to say what it is like the flashlight also gonna byy one vids are great
+Steve Gareau nice.
Can you carry this comfortably in your pocket? I currently carry the Fenix PD35 pretty comfortably but this one has over twice the lumens so if it can fit in my pocket I'm going to buy this one.
+Ffollies it wouldnt be comfortable to me but i dont think the pd35 size is either.
I carry it in my blue jeans sometimes, and it doesn't bother me.
ŹÈÚŠ do u think it would fit in my black jeans?
thanks
That's a pretty nice flashlight.
+Blue Mountain Bushcraft and Outdoors i got the smaller version coming up soon.
+Living Survival May I know what light is that? Thank you
Elijah Khoo EC45S
I assume you meant EA45S?
Elijah Khoo yah man, sorry.
Creepy woods right there...
+Gunner193 aren't all woods creepy? LOL.
Living Survival Point :P
Oh, Yeah!
If you could only own one light would you pick this over a Fenix PD35 or nitecore p12?
i know they are kind of apples and oranges but curious to hear your response.
well, depends. for pocket carry no but for general use in the vehicle or around home yes. hope that helps.
just if you could only have one, you would have to cope with it at all times :) between the nitecore p12 and fenix pd35 what would you favor?
Tom Thomas pd35
Thanks, appreciate the great vids too.
Ur cool man I'm subscribing
+Paul Lopez Ur cool too, thanks.
I just got an ec4s and i cant get it to work with 18650 batteries...i got efest imr 18650 3.7v. 2500mAh batteries they are fully charged..
+J Atos efest sucks, get some real 18650s
so it's the batteries?
J Atos sounds like it
hi, i want buy a flashlight but which are not better olight or nitecore, which recommend??
+Juan Salvador Perez Rodriguez nitecore is my favorite.
+Living Survival me too. I like Fenix and Nitecore. Bushnell, although not on par with the 2 I just mentioned, is becoming a favorite of mine as well.
Can you get a crenulated bezel for it?
don't think so.
