The problem is that my fingers are a little fat, and when I want to change the output, it does so many other things… Is there other way to change it? As far as making changes to more than one Submix at a time, I don’t believe the MPC allows for that (given that each Submix has its own window). However, there may be a Q-Link trick that I’m unaware of. I’ll keep you posted on my findings. Thank you for the questions and support!

    Wow! Thanks, this was very helpful. Submixes were always an enigma to me, but they really don't seem that complicated at all. Is the term "bus" the same as submix? Like an effects bus? If so, I probably had the answer right under my nose without realizing it. 🙋‍♂

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070  Před rokem +3

      Correct. Submixes are pretty much the same as buses. That’s an excellent way of looking at it. And you’re right, it’s really not that complicated once you wrap your mind around it.

  • @F_letc.h
    @F_letc.h Před rokem +2

    So if I add an effect to a program, then route one pad in that program to a submix does the pad bypass the program effect? Or will it have both effects?

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Another good question. The pad would bypass the program effect. Submixes have there own outputs autonomous of the program output. I’m actually glad that you asked this. I may have to do a video that explains the backend routing. Thank you for the question and the support!

  • @LeoColtrane
    @LeoColtrane Před 6 měsíci

    Peace. Quick question about Q Links + Submixes. I figured out how to emulate the four SP404 knobs on an MPC but I want to take it further. On the MPC X, you can map all 16 knobs to different effects using different submixes, but you can only send a pgm to one submix. Do you know if it's possible to chain submixes? I'm looking for a way to map and use all 16 knobs for realtime FX control without having to switch the pgm's submix routing during a live set.

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070  Před 6 měsíci

      Good question but I want to make sure that I understand. Are you trying to control multiple submixes at once? As in controlling the parameters of the inserts within the submix as opposed to controlling the overall submix itself? Let me know know.

    • @LeoColtrane
      @LeoColtrane Před 6 měsíci

      @@dncmusic8070 before I had an understanding of how the routing works, I wanted a way to assign different effects to all 16 Q Links. Since that's not possible I figured out a workaround. I sent all pgm's to submix 1 with 4 inserts. Then added 4 inserts to the master out. That gives me 8 independent global effects. And by assigning Flex Beat to one of the inserts, I discovered I could assign "on" switches for 8 of the presets to the 8 other Q Links. now what would be great is if I could apply my new routing to all my previous projects. It would be great to be able to export/import routing settings.

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070  Před rokem

      Yes. That is correct. Pad automation does not apply to virtual instruments. Program automation is the best method. However, you can resample your virtual instrument playback and apply automation to the pad where the sample is stored. I use this workaround quite often.

  • @saintecroix1241
    @saintecroix1241 Před rokem +1

    A quick question, when you mentioned submixes only impacting a portion of the signal, what did you mean specifically? Is there an unaffected dry signal associated with sends which limits the totality of fx?

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070  Před rokem +2

      Yes. With sends and returns, the original dry signal remains unaffected. Only the auxiliary bus is impacted by the insert. The dry signal is merely routed through the auxiliary channel.
      With submixes, the original signals are “bounced” into a single channel or bus. The single submix channel’s insert is then capable of affecting the submix in it’s entirety.

    • @dncmusic8070

      @@dncmusic8070 forgive me, I new to producing and unfamiliar with terminologies.
      I just like having fun, I’m self learning and opted to get a mpc over a daw route
      So is submixes on mpc essentially a bus channel on a daw? Something I hear ableton producers mention for example.
      Im learning everything I can and trying to put it to use through the mpc and sometimes it’s like I’m trying to translate and decipher two separate languages I don’t speak 😂

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070  Před 7 měsíci

      My apologies for the delayed response. You are correct. Submixes are essentially the same as a bus in a traditional DAW. You’re right AKAI uses a completely different environment and lexicon all together. Confusing but useful once you wrap your mind around it.

  • @ssooott
    @ssooott Před 7 měsíci +1

    If I have insert effects on a program, would they be effected in any way if I'm routing single hits from my program to submix?

    • @dncmusic8070
      @dncmusic8070  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Good question. The program’s effect will no longer affect the pad once you route said pad to a submix. The reason for this is that the pad can have only one output destination (based on what I know so far). The effect is placed on the output strip rather it be a submix, program or otherwise. So, long and short, it will remove the programs effect and swap it for the submix effect. Does this help?
