  • So you want to start digital planning in 2022 but have no idea where to start? In this video, I am covering all the different methods of digital planning and things you should keep in mind when choosing a digital planning to accomplish your goals. I chat about PDF planners, Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Notion, and other productivity apps often discussed in this space. There are multiple ways to digital plan for 2022, each with their own pros and cons. I'm taking a more general approach with things you should consider before starting digital planning.

    I will be using a physical planner this year as well as digital. I just have a lot going on between household things, 2 kiddos, college, my business and homeschooling my kids to juggle so multiple planners just makes sense to keep it all separate for me 😅 it’s a lot some days but I do enjoy the process

    I use a mixture of a PDF Planner with Goodnotes on my ipad air 4 and the Apple Calendar along with Reminders app on the iphone for important To Do list. Apple calendar is my master calendar, so the first point of call for appointments. PDF planner is a great way for me to keep take of the overal tasks/appointmetns especailly around my daughters Disability funding and her service providers. The PDF planner has everything summed up in one location. I also use a paper To do book for work, but have been thinking I could change this out if I get myself a Ipad mini 6. Work has provided me with a mini 4 but it is managed centrally so cant add apps to it.

    I'm pretty new to the pdf planner world but I've had my entire life in google calendar, google tasks etc for years and rely heavily on notifications and reminders to check off things as I do them. I'd love to know more about how you combine your calendars, notion (I only just saw this last week but it's intriguing to me) and pdf planner as there is so much overlap.
    I've started using a pdf notebook for my work to-do list and tracking my workouts/weights and it's amazing to move away from all the stickies on my computer screens and folders full of paper!

    well, notion works on Windows devices. I am a cross-platform user, cause MacBook can't cover all the needs for my workflow, so I switch from my windows laptop to iPad pro or iPhone when it comes to productivity, However, I don't need goodnotes on my laptop, sooo... for my fellows, cross-platform users, Microsoft OneNote, Notion and Google calendar works with both IOS and Windows. Just saying.

    I am just starting on digital planning and got my new iPad Air 4, like you said I had a hard time finding the right platform to use with my previous tablet/computer having a Samsung galaxy book with an iPhone 13 so now that I have the same apple brand products I am hoping to be more productive. Paper planners, bullet journals, and even stalogies were hard for me personally to use on a daily basis and remember to use it.

    I tried using a digital planner awhile ago for my studies, however it really did not turn out well since I keep forgetting that I have a planner/to-do list on my iPad (Honestly I don’t know why). So I went for the motemote 100 day 10 minute planner for my studies and some tasks. So far it has been effective, I guess the time of the screen really did me well since most of the time my studies are online. It really depends what works best for you.

    I just started making my own digital planner with keynote and GoodNotes. Although I’m having some trouble figuring out the right size of the presentation in keynotes that is the right fit for GoodNotes. I have an iPad Air 4th gen, and also use Procreate to put in art pieces and such in my planner. The last planner I made in keynotes was 2360x1640 but I was having some trouble with the pens in GoodNotes as my smallest pen would have to be 0,75 mm for me to be able to see the written thing when all zoomed out on my planner. Which size would you recommend? And what sizes do you normally create your planners in keynote?

    Is it possible to use Goodnotes as similarly as I would a physical planner (i.e everything being on the same page for the week/month without clicking to extra pages)? I find it most difficult to adapt with digital planners when everything is under and inside different sub-pages. "Out of sight, out of mind" is usually how my brain operates when it comes to planning, so I need holistic view for my week and months constantly - otherwise I'll forget it or change the system completely. For now the paper planner is the only one doing that for me, but I hate losing my pens and would love to have everything in the same streamlined place.

    Switching between reading and editing mode in goodnotes, as well as having to double tap with two or three fingers instead of tapping once truly does drive me mad, so I prefer Collanote. These might be minor things other people aren't bothered with, but I prefer my undo and redo gestures to be the same I use with procreate cause it helps with muscle memory and to make the experience more seamless... I also prefer my handwriting in Collanote, as with the pencil tool it looks identical to my handwriting on paper so I don't have to write slower for it to look nice... Figured I'd leave this here for people who'd feel like they're missing out unless they pay for an app!

    Hey Kirsten, this video helped me to immediately stop and analyze my past, present and future planning and note-taking systems, what they consisted of, what I did and didn't like about them, and what might work best for me going forward. My life has gone through so many transformations btw relationships, jobs, locations, interests and changing times. I was hoping to design planner/organizers to sell, but don't want to re-invent the wheel or create things that aren't me. So maybe I'll just start with special interest digital planner insert packs for my warm market (several interests still) and see what happens. Thanks so much for all you do for us! 🌟💙💛

    Hi guys! I am planning to buy Ipad air 4 in 2022, let me tell you I have never touched apple product ever. I have no idea how even you guys are planning digitally. but yes I want to know one thing that is - If I buy 256GB ipad and start digitally planning my day on it, day by day the files will get heavier right? I am planning to keep finance planner, yearly planner (month view), Daily Planner and A dear diary thing to motivate myself and become better. but won't it get heavy on the ipad? it will consume alot of space right? do I have to keep backing it up? or how this works ? somebody please tell me. Also - I am a Digital artist and will use Procreate heavily.

    • @OcculticRomantic
      @OcculticRomantic Před 2 lety +3

      256GB is plenty of space. I have 128GB and have a ton of stuff on mine, but I also use iCloud to store files on so it doesn’t get bogged down.

    • @amtiffany9

      256GB would more than enough for just digital planning. For example, I have an iPad Pro in 256GB and even though I use GoodNotes every (for both school and personal use), it doesn't even take up a single GB. But like another commenter here said, if you're using Procreate, the more storage the better!
