Idk why FarCry highlight their villains in the advertising and art so much when you barely interact with them.
I just started Far Cry 5 and i really enjoy it. It's mindless fun in an open environment. People like to pretend they're too good for Far Cry but i'm glad Ubisoft is capable of trying new things with their FC formula. I'm definitely excited to play New Dawn.
I would love a main entry Far Cry that took place entirely in a post-apocalyptic setting. Something more robust and extreme than New Dawn. Or a space setting would be interesting. Or like The Fifth Element setting! Ubisoft could totally pull of Far Cry: The Fifth Element! Imagine: flying cars, future city, authoritarian police, high tech weapons, evil corporate villains, aliens singing opera, Ruby Rhod, ancient pyramids!...
John Doe Exactly. Far Cry games are kinda mindless shooters that don’t have real in-depth stories. But the environments and the characters make the game thoroughly entertaining and the atmosphere and graphics are always on point. I’ve enjoyed every Far Cry game I’ve played in the same vein as Assassin’s Creed. I game to chill considering I’ve got a hectic work life. They’re perfect for me. I’ve spent hour just fishing in Far Cry 5.
On sale for $20 right now. After hearing Huber talk about it on a frame trap as being a might tighter experience. I only beat Blood Dragon because these games almost always overstay their welcome. I will take a condensed Far Cry 5 over Far Cry 5 any day.

This game feels unnecessary. It also makes the ending of far cry 5 feel nothing more than set up rather than an excellent conclusion

It’s not a bad option for them when it allows them to recycle assets. Lower overhead means less sales are needed to make the same amount of profit.
You might not like it, but they don’t need you to. You can just drop in every few years and they have lost nothing.

true. 5 would be mediocre. 6-7 is above average IMO, with 8-10 being exceptional quality. @@PhantomGardener
Most reviewers end up scoring the vast majority of games 7-9 with a few outliers scoring higher or lower. When you take the reviews scoring 7-9 it looks as though most games score a 7. If most games score 7 then to the audience it translates as the average/moderate score. A game scoring average = average quality = mediocre.
Spoilers for Far Cry 5. Not like anyone cares much for that game, but I´m currently playing through it and it would´ve been nice not knowing what happens at the end.
I still thinks EZA reviews are the best on the industry though.

I hope they use the saw launcher for all Far Cry games.
I also would have loved to have seen more creative weapons like this.
Souped up nail gun that fires 9 inch nails. Bolt guns like at an abattoir.
Something that fits drill bits, explosive BB gun, orange gun, watermelon/pumpkin Canon to use on outposts.
The pumpkin Canon is real and also not out if place in that area.
I don't know, they're just off the top of my head.
It would also fit the theme better to use midded tools etc. Obviously didn't have to be realistic. I mean double jump?
The problem is: Ubsisoft got completely comfortable with mediocrity. No ambition, no creativity or innovation. Really sad.

@@kraenk12 Ikr. Mario and Rabbids,Far Cry 5,AC Origins and Oddessy (didn't like much of Unity and Syndicate), The Crew 1 (even The Crew 2,don't care about the hate bandwagon), Ghost Recon Wildlands,and even Watch Dogs 2. (I found WD1 a little stale,though I even played 30 mins of it)

This looked and tbh after seeing the reviews and video coverage still does look like a lazy, derivative, uninspired cash grab. It’s 40$ and blood dragon, which is far cooler, costs only 15$. Buy that instead
As soon as the review started talking about shotguns I knew Huber wrote it.
Since that email survey a few ago, all I want from FarCry is one centred around Dinosaurs (tameable and rideable). I honestly don’t care at this point if it’s like Primal, Jurassic Park or Turok.

This game basically is made for me.
There are way too few shooter with RPG mechanics and I love this genre mix.
Also replaying missins while raising the difficulty to get better stuff... my "Earth Defense Force" heart is pounding.
For other people, its just "another Ubisoft game" and they may think "What did they do to Far Cry?!?", but for me, this game is a pure gem and nonsensical videogame fun.
Then get Metro if you want FPS with RPG mechanics.

I love the Far Cry gameplay. Would I rather have Far Cry 6 made with some innovations and a return to a tropical island setting? Sure, but more Far Cry is always fun.

They probably should have committed to a more out-there theme like blood dragon.
I loved Far Cry 5 so I won't be getting on this. Any excuse to get back into that world for me. This is just a late big excitability so I am happy. I so so be posting Metro and Rage if I can drag myself away from Monster Hunter world, RDR, Ace Combat 7 my list goes on. I have the best first world problem one could have.
oh i really hope ubisoft games dont all just become you cant shoot here because your level isnt high enough i hated the devision for that , the shooting in farcry was fun idk how i feel about having to shoot a guy in the head 20 times if his like 5 levels above me
Eduardo Ferreira this is the main reason i’m not interested in New Dawn. Other than it being another post apocalypse game.
Great game, having a blast with it. Not sure what the hang up was or maybe it was updated but helmetless enemies go down by headshots on hard ass difficulty BUT ive also not encountered enemies above my gun level and in fact can create lv2 weapons now but havent done so yet to wait to see if i can skip to 3 without wasting resources.
I wish they did way more of the hidden stash stuff. They were always fun in FC5.
No talk of glitches or mission variety. No talk of goals or hindrance. What is your objective in the game? Are the Twins the only there to steal, or do they have a plan for this place? 17 years after a nuclear attack, where's the radiation? Is there radiation? Hell, I didn't even see much, if any, damage to the countryside. Full trees back in bloom after 17 years after nuclear hellfire? Doesn't work like that. Plus, I saw Pastor Jerome (and I think Grace) is still alive. How? Is that addressed with anything more than a wave of the hand? Or is this all purgatory?
As you can see, I have many questions about this game. Some of them, I understand can't be answered for spoiler reasons. I understand that. But for the others, is it that the game doesn't answer them or is it you guys just didn't cover them?
Oh. One last thing. I know there are Eden's Gate side missions in the game. Why didn't you mention those Easy Allies? That seems like a HUGE oversight. Finding out about the remnants of the whole reason the last game existed seems like it's more than something to ignore.
Comments for the game are negative but I'm having a much better time with this then base far cry 5.
Agreed. I like this more than 5. People who have never played this game are flaming it. People are not happy with their lives. Their loss. It is really fun.
It takes me out of a game when your shooting someone and they literally have no bullet holes or marks on them, or if you fucking shoot a saw at someone’s head and they just fall down with no damage whatsoever.

Yeah Far Cry 3 was the best, better villians, story, setting etc.
The writing in Far Cry has taken a deep, steep dive after 3. Wish they'd put in more effort.
Far Cry 4 was pretty good, i liked Vass more than Pagan but i liked 4 more than 3
The Seed family was pretty good.
Pagan and Joseph were better than Vass imo he was a great villain but very overrated.
Clearly I can just give up on them going back to the awesome days of Farcry Instincts. I miss being a cross between Sabertooth and Predator. Setting up spoke traps and luring enemies into them. Being able to track and leap crazy distances to pounce on badguys....sigh.

I can't for the life of me figure out why they chose ethanol of all things to be an upgrade material for bases and equipment? are they sterilizing their base? preserving biological specimens? getting drunk?
i find that far cry new dawn felt more like a traditional far cry game then far cry 5. Mainly since i now have a reason to hunt. To get some of the high level weapons. The post end of the world feel did not really bother me. I do like this diffrent post nuke world instead of dark left to rot city or a dessert. This has it's own unique flavor. Will i buy far cry 6? Dont know. But i like how this game was not 60 bucks but less.
Just wish this game had some more side missions and hunt a specific animal with a specific weapon type missions. And maybe a longer story.
Not a huge fan of the rpg elements but they are no real bother to me.
And have crafting back to carry more weapons or upgrades would be great. (Require certain animal skins or things like that)

Metro Exodus is a linear survival horror game, which is much different from open world FPS.
As for RAGE 2, consider this is a sequel of RAGE + Avalanche Studio involvements... idk, it might be even worse.
So there can only be 2 takes on a post apocalypse? If that's the case they should've stopped making them decades ago.
Lack of Imagination? Check.
No improvement in gameplay variety? Check.
Lackluster story and writing? Check.
Ubisoft is on a roll, making shitty Far Cry games.

Can I just say I hate how this game looks? It’s supposed to be the nuclear post apocalypse but there is lush vegetation everywhere it’s like did the nuclear bombs even fucking do anything?
Easy Allies I understand that but the last of us wasn’t a nuclear apocalypse (I haven’t played enslaved).
This game should have been an expansion to Far Cry 5, but then again at $39.99 it's about the price of a DLC, and it sought of is extra content to Far Cry 5. I had fun and enough with Far Cry 5.
This is a skip for me I'm so burnt out from Far Cry. The last 4 have been too much of the same thing, and I've played FC 2, 3, Blood Dragon, 4, Primal, and 5, I've also played games just like FC which are Dead Island, Dead Island RipTide, Dying Light and the Following which is more Far Cry-ish games just coated in Zombie blood but with the same types of wacky corky and over the top stories and characters. I'm exhausted from this series.
It's a co op game that doesn't allow you to open your game to random players, you could only invite. It's frustrating when no one on your friends list plays Far Cry and with no open lobbies for randoms, only through invites, I have no choice but to play a co op game alone.
I guess we're going swimmin'!

Fair enough, but a simple warning before talking about it would've been nice, especially since it's a fairly recent release. My wife was just getting to the end of FC5 and was pretty annoyed hearing the spoilers, not everyone follows trailers or what devs are putting out there. She probably won't bother finishing it now.@@EasyAllies

Wow, a totally original game with unique gameplay....can’t wait to run around the same environments, shooting the same weapons at the same enemy A.I....the graphics look amazing and I’ve never played an open game before! I wish all games would look and play like this one...just feels so original and fresh...totally worth the money. Ubisoft should get the innovative gaming company award cos every game they release is just so fresh with so many new gameplay ideas and interesting characters! 10/10 for sure...

Lol, yeah no. In terms of open world design Ubisoft is way ahead. RDR mainly just crutches on random events while the actual environment and what’s in it, is lackluster
@@jdmsg8441 Curious to know why you think Ubisoft is way ahead. To me, Ubisoft's open worlds have felt exactly the same for the last 5+ years or so. Lots of density/content and checklists but nothing of real substance.
ArkRaider22 then you aren’t really looking. Especially in the past two AC games you could spend dozens of hours exploring the environment and finding little details that aren’t tied to a mission or collectible. Dead bodies with stories and of the such.
Take the procedural random events out of RDR2 you’d quickly discover they have way less substance and have vast amounts of void dead environments than any Ubisoft game.
@@jdmsg8441 I dunno man, it sounds like to me you haven't properly explored RDR2's open world. Everything you just described about AC is very present in RDR2. I've done 2 full play throughs of RDR2, with the second being a 100% run and was finding stuff I hadn't found before event after 200 hours. And I'm not talking about the random "help i've been bitten by a snake" encounters etc.
ArkRaider22 I’ve put 200 hours into SP, trust me I’ve properly explored it. Take everything with a script out. It has nothing compared to Ubi environment. Hell Origins made a barren dessert interesting
Why have game journalists banned the use of the word “fun” when talking about games? I play games to have fun and nearly ZERO game reviews use the word “fun” any longer. Instead they use bizarre over-emotional terms like “satisfying” dozens of times. What the hell is that even supposed to mean? What emotional need are you “satisfying”, supposedly? Games aren’t water. Games don’t “satisfy” a human need. Bullshit millennial bullshit.
Nice review. :) I'm pretty sure for me this game will be a 8 out of 10. :D Btw. I hope Far Cry 6 will have a real, no self created character again. In Far Cry 5 I just couldn't feel the motiviation behind this silent Hero without a special backgroundstory. ^^

The self created character in Far Cry 5 was just a design-choice I personally disagreed with. Nothing more, nothing less. I really love Far Cry 5 and I have preordered New Dawn.
