    I watched this series this morning and the whole time I was thinking about how this binder and theme would be perfect for my mom. Well, this afternoon I went to Goodwill and found this very binder still in plastic. I couldn't believe it and I'm so excited to do this for her as a gift.

      that's wonderful! Try not to let it overwhelm you, because it's easy to do. Just pick one project and start ... work on it til it's finished and then move on to the next. I find that making a list of ones I want to create helps! Happy crafting!

    Never heard of junk journaling. I love the look. But perplexed about how any recipes can be added. My current dilemma is that my three ring wants to pop open. Considering using an expandable post scrap book.

    • @shawcraft1
      @shawcraft1  Před 3 lety

      Recipes can be added in pockets and tucks, or directly in the rings themselves. You can also use washi tape to add them to each page, since it's a removable tape. If your rings are popping open, I suggest getting a different ring binder so you don't have to constantly fight with it. If you love crafting, and watch a few videos on junk journaling, you will be instantly hooked!

    enjoying your process, actually very relaxing as well as informative! I just about fell over when you said Peter Panic Buttons! My Mom use to make those when I was a kid... way back when lol I am curious as to what that recipe has to say! The one I have is in my Mom's cookbook, handwritten. I have rewritten/typed it up and put it on the tablet with all my other recipes, so I don't damage her precious books! Her recipe is as follows:
    PETER PANIC BUTTONS
    1 c. crunchy peanut butter
    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. (firmly packed) brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    3/4 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    5 doz. M&Ms
    Cream the peanut butter and butter in a bowl. Add sugars gradually and cream until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and egg and beat well. Sift the flour with soda, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture and mix thoroughly. Chill dough if necessary.
    Shape into balls, using a heaping teaspoon for each and place on cookie sheet. Bake in 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Top each cookie with an M&M and cool on racks.

      Haha, I went back and watched the video to see if I could figure out what book it came out of and what I did with the recipe, so I could send it to you .. .but I realized I put it in the journal, lol. You might could get Nan to send you a screenshot of it!

    That's old medical tape on the front cover. I remember it from my mom coming home will rolls of it in her pockets from work & I had to wash her items & pull out all her stuff before I washed it. For 3 hole punches the mechanisms that punch the holes are usually adjustable so you can move them to match what you need. Just an FYI. Also I use a 50% alcohol solution to rub off sticky residue and/or stickers. That along with heat works great. Easy & no damage to the paper. I would love to see how you reinforce the cover of the book. Liking this so far. Great info.

    Use a blow dryer to soften the sticker adhesive. Sticker should come right off.

      Mary, I don't fussy cut anything because I stink at cutting. Couldn't cut a straight line if you gave me a million dollars, lol. I see a lot of ladies who do fussy cut, and I've tried, but it always turns out horrible lol

    How do others feel about 2 sided paper? I dont like them. I want both sides so i dont use them unless I am using them as part of a signature and both sides show. Ive often wondered why mfg do that.

    • @shawcraft1
      @shawcraft1  Před 5 lety

      I had the same problem for a very long time. I always wanted to use both sides of the paper. I had to learn that it's okay if some of the beauty of it doesn't always show, because I know it's there, so I had to just learn to be happy with that. But I, too, mostly just use my 2 sided paper as signatures. I am learning to use it in other things and be okay with it.

    I only have one issue with diy...by showing the world how to do this stuff...I end up out of work because everyone is doing it for themselves, including the thrifting. I refuse to tell all so that I am out of work. I will tell my protege's and those who pay for my "how to" literature. But my secrets and mysteries are mine alone. When I share too much, I become obsolete. If everyone is DIY... I lose my usefulness as an artist.

      This can be true to a point, but I also believe that your business grows by helping others. It can be a 2 edged sword, but you will always be blessed by helping others. You, my friend, will never be useless as an artist

      Maybe my first edited video should be teaching people how to use a mouse to click off of a video they don't like? Pity ... the price sticker portion was just a precursor to the mouse video
