    I love the Fenix hm50 v2. The low setting is ok, not too dim. On the lowest 2 settings the battery life is adequate. I remove it from the band and hang it on the day pack sternum strap and put it on red flash when I walk predawn so cars can see me. Waterproofness is bomber. 700ma battery is small but charges fast and I have 3 of them. $8 a piece. My favorite headlamp of 6 headlamps.
    To lockout, press and hold the switch until 4 red flashes. Lastly the red flash will operate 3 days on one charge.

    As a hunter and a fisherman one thing you need to remember the most is Kelvin. Cool lights...6k and above... you will absolutely... I mean absolutely hate for hunting. You can't see the blood and every leaf, tree, ground etc will all be washed out and look the same greenish tint or washed out white color. 5500 or less is what you need. There's no arguing here. Why am I so adamant about kelvin while hunting. I almost got lost in the forest as I was trying to track a bleeding out hog. I couldn't see the blood but could barely make out the tracks it left. When the tracks disappeared, so did the way I went. The 8000lm 6500k light I used couldn't even help me find my shoe prints in the dirt. The 2 zebralight headlamps I have are the only headlamps I use to hunt. at 5000k that help me see every bent leaf, drop of blood and depressions from tracks or footprints. Choose wisely.

    Thoughts on the HM70R vs HM65R-T for general outdoors usage (camping, hunting, hiking)? It appears the 70 has a red light and marginally more power output, but the 65 has less weight and better user interface, which is making it very hard to choose between the two.

    The ambient and the red light have their reasons.
    But 'spot' or 'wide' light would be a reason for me and I know, that certain manufacturers just use one lense and only get a spot, but not widespread.

      Hey there! Yeah, a number of these have two different lamps, one for the flood light and one for the spot light. Some, like the Coast lights have one light and you then use the twist nob on the front to adjust from a flood beam to a spotlight beam. The Fenix HM50R and HM65R both have just one lamp, but it's kind of in between a flood and a spotlight beam. They are good all around lights. Interesting information. Here's my take, find the best and safest flashlight for the purpose you need. It's clearly okay to have more than one. If I was hunting I would want something different than if I've got my head stuck under the hood of my car. I love 18650 flashlights just never with the battery(ies) on my head.
    Also I wouldn't trust any of the lumen ratings, they're almost always double or triple what they really are in reality. 400 lumens close up is almost too much and will often whitewash. I also have a thing about strapping on a lithium 18650 on my forehead. I vape and if one of those 18650s goes bad, if you're lucky you'll be severely burned on your face but if you're unlucky blind. Maybe a pack on a detachable belt clip or the back of your head with a carefully designed housing aiming out gases away. Don't get me wrong I love rechargeable batteries, I just love my intact body parts more. My favorite handheld flashlights all use 18650s.

      Hey man compared to a lot of outdoor gear videos this was great. A lot of them just post a top 5 of commercials and have never used the product before.
      This was pretty solid, I appreciate it. I can also tell you're the type to really put these things to the test and know what to look for in a product that is extremely important. You want to be able to count on it when you're 15 miles into the woods.

    He trying to find a replacement for a Streamlight and buys 13 mf lights and not a damn one is good as the Streamlight.
    The problem with high Lumens lights is they don’t last long buddy and those bright blue lights are worthless if you want to see true colors. They are also worthless for upclose or a work light.
    The Coast ain’t bad but it’s got that stupid round spot beam while Streamlight headlamp is spread out so you can see what the hell is in front of you. Headlamps are not for shinning dear or bull moose!

    I still don't understand why these dumb ass headlamps are more popular than flashlights that clip to your hat. We all wear hats I can't stand taking my hat off to put that stupid band on then trying to store it nicely in my bag once im in a treestand is a pain. Olight needs a green flashlight bad

      I can't speak for others, but I use these headlamps with a cap on....just put the band over the hat. That's worked very well for me and the folks I hunt with. Thanks for watching though!

      Hat clip on lights are trash. Battery life is trash. Durability is trash. Illumination is trash. The Black Diamond Storm blows clip on lights out of the water. Wear it over your hat and the bill helps to keep some of your night vision while using the headlamp.

      @BackwoodsPursuit  Před rokem +1
