The GW-B5600 lineup is the ultimate G-Shock bargain with advanced features like Bluetooth connectivity, solar power, Super Illuminator displays, and handsome dials. Today we're going to compare my GW-B5600BC-1, a positive display watch with a resin-link bracelet, to the ice-blue variant with a negative display and a supple resin band.

one of the best things about this watch is that you can change the date display if you are a non-american user, from MM. DD to DD. MM (for those who didn't understand:date first, month second)

on this exact model, yes, i was surprised when i was scrolling through it's functions and at first sight it confused me because it was the first time for me seeing such a thing :D but then i was: this... this is the watch i'll keep forever, all those MM/DD are for sale from now :D

I've had this watch for about 7 months now, but I didn't know there was a different colour backlight for reminders.

I absolutely love this watch, its so comfortable and feels great to wear.
I ended up buying a stainless steel bezel and strap and it looks stunning, but somehow i still think about putting the resin strap and bezel back on, as they feel so soft and smooth and are a lot more durable against bumps and scratches than stainless steel.
It's a pretty great watch. I have one of those stainless steel bezels too but something about the resin just feels right. Glad you're enjoying it! That red light is pretty cool.

Love my 5610. There are a few squares that have almost gotten a purchase, but I've not wanted to wear anything but the 5610.
This one has caught my eye though. Also looks genuinely very nice with a stainless steel mod.

@@Lorenna1234 do not hesitate. It fits perfect. The face of the watch is great sizewise. Lug to lug is difficult to measure, but that resin band works great and it will hug your wrist. I measured my wrist and it is 55mm wide.
Good video. I have the B5600-BL1 with the purple display. I got it from Macy's last summer on sale for about $115 after taxes. The lack of a positive display does not bother me as much as I thought it would. It is a great watch. I suspect casio has not introduced a positive display full resin model in order to divert sales to the stainless steel models. For a similar reason, I suspect that is why Casio USA has not officially brought the positive display on the bracelet into the U.S.
You really can't complain about the entire lineup. They are awesome watches. Good price you got there!

I bought this watch with a negative display but couldnt get on with the negative display so i took the watch apart and took off the negative film, it now looks cool with a positive display great watch had it now for about 3 years and still works like new,i have put a black nato strap on it now.😀

Be it the yellow one or this blue one, Casio REALLY nailed the mirror-finish bezel insert. Got this GW-B5600-2 yesterday ; absolutely in love with it. Waiting for the combi strap to arrive to complement it. I've had negative displays before and I must say this looks much more legible. I might try the hydro mod on this watch though for fun.

Funny I ordered the blue version from france for $109 shipped but as it was in transit I got the gold one for $135 shipped on ebay used but excellent. These are my only two casio bluetooth watches so far. Blue one isn't here yet, I really like the gold one and my wrist is pretty small, I only have six links in total.
GW-B5600GZ-1 is a Cyberpunk 2077 ready! And, can you imagine, it can present DD:MM format! Kudos to Mr.Rangeman :)
Negative display looks great, but I still dislike them for usability. And this is one of the best looking. I have only one with negative display that I really like, the G-7800. Thanks for a nice distraction in these times.
Had this watch for about 1 year plus now, I do say it handles itself quite well even going through my law enforcement training putting it through some torture and still it survives.
What about the glass? Any scratches?

Every time I say "No more negative display G-Shocks, only positive from here on out!" …..this happens. That doesn't look too bad honestly. I do like the blue as well.

Absolutely. It's highly reflective. There's a quick shot in this video of the watch out in sunlight.
Actually, sorry, I thought you were talking about the GBX-100. But yes, on this watch you can definitely read it in sunlight. In a darker room not so much.

I've got the exact same blue/negative GW-B5600 (since November) and the same size wrist. Spooky.
I have to say it fits well, works well, looks nice... I just wish I'd bought the M5610 with a positive dial that shows charge status.
Negative dials just aren't as legible and I'd happily trade off the Bluetooth features for the display showing charge (H/M/L, like most other tough solar casio watches).
I still like it and wear it regularly but it's caused me to re-evaluate what I actually want from a digital "beater" a bit.
I wish it did too, though it will show LOW in the text area if you get low. I still have my old GWM5610 with positive display when I get a craving for it.
You guys might want to check out the GW-M5610BA-1JF. It has a positive display with a slight blue hue over it and some blue accents on the bezel. I love mine. I only have a 6" wrist which was the main reason I picked it over the BW5600-2 as all little bits help. I do love the look of the 5600-2 though.

Would be nice if they made this but with a setting that would let you pick between negative and positive display. But then again that's too logical so they will just come out with another watch like this with that option and mark up the price by $50.

Should be okay on a 6 inch wrist. Maybe a tad big. You shouldn't have to replace the battery for many, many years.

I love, love love the 5600-2. I received mine on 11-29-19 from Japan for slightly more than $150 usd. I’ve worn it every day and never tire of gazing this excellent timepiece. It is VERY comfortable and it’s a G Shock! I reside in a usually cloudy environment so to keep it charged I simply hang it upside down from the top of a lamp for a few hours before bed. It’s always at 100% which you need the app to view the battery condition. I do love the reminder feature too.

I know negative displays aren't ideal, but just received my GW-B5600-2 and can barely read it. Nothing like any promo shots or videos online. It's from eBay so hoping it's not fake but have inquired. May just keep my G5600E-1 tough solar. I was also expecting it to auto illuminate when you tilt your wrist up (like the Auto EL). Doesn't even look as good as your video. The strap holes also fit better on the G5600E-1.
I’m debating on which watch to buy because I have smaller wrists as well. Could you tell me the width of your wrist? I know you mentioned you have 6.75 circumference, mine is 6.5 but I am wondering if I have a wide enough to fit the combi bracelet well enough.
The watches with the combi bracelets tend to have a slightly bigger over hang on the lugs. Not that noticeable. I do prefer the size of my classic 5610 over this.
does this have the high viewing angle STN display? I love the look but negative displays are hard to read at a lot of angles but i hear the STN display helps.

I bought an MG-1(DR as well.. what's that mean?) version of the gw-b5600 from stockX. It connected to the g shock app via bluetooth, should I still be skeptical ? Or should I not doubt it's legitimacy? Caseback says made in Thailand, and the serial numbers and some numbers have this more grey colouring that doesn't match the Caseback brushed steel look? But idk everything works fine, but when I was charging it in the sun for an hour or two, it charged to like 80% but then the next day it was like at 65% maybe BC I fiddle with it a lot,connect it to Bluetooth on occasion and use the backlight a lil..?

I haven't seen the red one in person but man, it's cool looking. It's probably a bit more difficult to read than this one but I wouldn't fault you for going for it.
I have both. the negative display in red background is harder to see. but...... it is cool AF!!! how often can u find a red background negative display watch? haha. go for it. my gf wears the red i wear the blue.

I have to say, the legibility of the negative display in your video is kind of misleading, unfortunately so. I've just received my G-Shock and I have to say the visibility is not acceptable for me, which is a bummer, because I really like the BT capabilities of the watch. I don't like the yellow-tinted display either. So I guess i gotta keep on searching. Otherwise your channel is excellent. I love the way you portrait the watches and the overall quality! Keep it up! I might add that probably the reason why the negative looks so good in your video is because of the awesome lighting you have, which I have to say, makes the watch look even better! haha No worries. ;)
It's a double-edged sword. If I don't have good lighting then I get complaints that you can't see the LCD. Haha. I'm still liking this watch. Outdoors or in good light it's pretty legible for me. But I know what you mean - negative displays are sometimes hit or miss. Have you looked at the gold version?
@@WatchingCasio Yeah, that one is substantially more expensive (still not really expensive, but yeah) where I can buy it, I guess also because of the bracelet. Not a big fan of the yellow tint and accents. I'd love a classical GW-M5610-1ER with bluetooth connectivity. That would rock. Otherwise, I think I'm going to wait for the new GBX-100. Unfortunately, the only current bluetooth squares with positive displays are the colourful one in this range, black and gold, and the way more expensive full metal squares. The black and gold model is really nice in real life, and my plan is to get a black titanium aftermarket bezel for it.
@@raksh9 The GMW-B5000G-1ER might also be an alternative, but they are expensive. Not sure if I want a watch like that as a beater. I'd love the classical GW-M5610-1ER with bluetooth. That would rock. But putting a nice bezel on it might also work. Would love to see that one.

may I ask you if these resin bands are more comfortable than the one supplied with the old 5610?
I have the 5610 for 8 years now, and I find the band is too stiff and the holes are either too tight or too loose in the summer.
few years ago I replaced the resin band with the JAYANDKEY strap adapter, but not digging it 100%.
The resin bands are pretty nice. I actually replaced my 5610 band a while back with a new resin strap and it's much softer and feels better. This one has a similar strap. It feels nice. I have the same problem - my wrists swell up in the summer and shrink in the winter and I can hardly ever find the perfect band placement!

Yep, you can enter reminders into the G-SHOCK app and have them show up on a specific day. With Bluetooth you can also have the watch time updated 4 times per day, and also easily swap timezones, and use the watch as a phone finder. Pretty cool watch :)

Is the resin strap for this watch better quality than the standard entry level squares? Are there any differences in feel, softness, shine/texture?
Also, does the black and gold version have the red reminder light? I never knew that was a feature of the negative display version.
They do feel a little nicer than the standard resin band. And yeah, the black/gold has that light too. Check out my other review of the gold one.

Would like to give this one as some other Squares a look but I always come back to my 5610. I think the 5610 is the perfect Square! My dream would be 5610 + the Steptracker from the GBA-800 together in one.
I totally agree. This is a pretty sweet watch but I'm quite partial to my original 5610 and seem to always go back to it.

3:03 I don't think this one comes with tough solar. The only thing keeping me from buying this in a snap. The red negative display model has tough solar tho but it's twice and a bit more than the blue one's cost here.
All watches in this lineup have solar.
@@WatchingCasio if you mean the Tough Solar feature then you'll have to check again. The blue piece lacks tough solar.. its' neither printed on the watch or on the casio page.

That's honestly my pick about this watch and the GW-B5600BC-1B... I think they're the same screen. Darkish gray on black makes for an awful view of the display. It's especially irritating when it's literally my ONLY issue with the watch.

I just can't deal with casio negative displays. They are junk unless you get an stn negative display but they only come in the expensive models.
It's not so bad, but it is an acquired taste.
