For some reason their mgmt. released Puzzle after six years, so... Maybe it has to do with a bad licensing / royalty deal with ZEPP and Studio Coast because once they played it at Tokyo Garden, bam, Puzzle was released. I'm pretty sure they'll play Moratorium at Yokohama, which will be filmed.

As one who has been to four Band-Maid concerts or performances l can tell you the crowd gets into it. Massively. Audience participation is a must at any Band-Maid show. The more the audience is into it the harder they go. It is almost like attending church. An old Southern Baptist Church wherein the congregation is singing their ass off. You walk out two hours later feeling exhausted and feeling like your rock n roll soul has been saved. Their crowd interactions are among the best l have ever witnessed.

Can you explain how this didn’t make their “Best Of” CD? How!?
“Moratorium” has 4 different riffs that could’ve been written out to be four individual hit songs. But no. Kanami is “The Riff Goddess” and gives them away like candy 🍭
I’m so glad you guys got around to this one. It really is top level Maid. That heavy drop riff…it forces heads to bang.
Yes, Band Maid plays to a click with backing tracks that Kanami-sensei puts together. The crowd noise? That’s all the crowd. Backing tracks have the ethereal synth effects and percussive taps, along with keyboard parts and sometimes extra layers of harmony vocals.
They use it as properly as could be; however, as a musician, I’d always prefer the raw live sound, even if some parts of songs are missing. That would be my only minor quibble with Band Maid.

The best way to see Kanami's fretwork is from a fancam focused solely on her at a concert at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston in October 2022. That is the best video to see how fast and technically sound she is.

BAND MAID and Nemophila are bands that I love although I consider BAND MAID to be a group of musicians unmatched for creativity, live performance and total personality from A to Z. In my opinion BAND MAID plays in open fields and in all directions. Nemophila plays more in a wide hallway and they seem more compressed into a musical space to me. So I think the passage of time will work out better for BAND MAID and their songs. In any case, both bands are a gift for current music and they make and will make history in world rock because they deserve it note by note with their sweat and with our love.

It IS the crowd in part, but most of what you hear is the backing track. Live it generally starts sparsely, but as the newbs pick up on it, it gets louder by the end of the song(s). There's a reason, for example, they taught the crowd the the singalong parts to 'Endless Story' before playing the song at Lollapalooza. :-)
Just like when they play 'From Now On,' you can still hear the piano. Any filtered drum parts you hear live are part of the backing track, since live drums give zero shits about filters.

The crowd was certainly singing along, and Kanami was doing her part (I think), but there are backing tracks for the "oh's" and synth line. Band-Maid is by no means the worst offender in this regard.

Especially when all backing tracks are recorded by the band members. Every note that comes from those loud speakers was recorded by Band-Maid members. Double tracking vocals are as old as the Beatles. In fact they invented a method of doing it. You play club dates and carrying a piano around with you is often not practical.

@@sacluvsBM Haha. Well said, Robert. So every time B-M play "Sense" live, unless there's an orchestra playing the intro on stage then that part should be cut from the performance. Also Tuomas wouldn't be on stage at all for Nightwish concerts.😂

@@GaryHolloway-810 Completely right. To replicate your studio sound is a challenge. To condemn any band to doing only what they can individually on stage seems insane to me.
