- Presenting the premiere episode of Very Important People - a new series from Dropout.tv that asks the question: what happens when you give a comedian a complete makeover, ask them to invent a character on the spot, and then give a fully improvised interview? And then, we answer it - join host Vic Michaelis and guest Anna Garcia (as "Princess Emily") for a wide-ranging discussion about Maroon 5?, pygmy monkeys, and specifically where in Europe Princess Emily comes from. Here's the premiere of Dropout's new series, Very Important People. It is absolutely wild and we're incredibly proud of it, we wanted to give you a chance to see a full episode yourself. There's a bunch more episodes over on Dropout, along with some BTS stuff, and lots more coming. PS - classic CH fans will recognize the format as the Pat Cassels / Josh Ruben series "Hello, My Name Is"...and good news, Josh is the guest in this week's new episode, out Friday on Dropout. Anyways thx for reading 🫶

Princess Emily is very Eurovision-coded
LITERALLY
She was on the leaderboard, actually, with her song "i am european number one superstar". Rumours say she could've won if it weren't for the extasy in the staff's coffee machine.
We *NEED* her in Eurovision next year. @Dropout you need to get in touch with people, make it happen. She could compete for any country, really. Enter into the national competitions in all the countries!
literally Cazzi Opeia from Sweden (Melodifestivalen 2024, and one of Loreen's "Tattoo" songwriters)
She actually won the televote but the jury didn't get her artistry 😢
Princess Emily was a great first interview for this show! Anna knocked it out of the park and Vic plays a great straight man
A straight they, you mean 😊
@@KeepFeedingMeImStillHungry I'm not sure if you're kidding or not; just wanted to let you know that a "straight man" is a comedy term for a character that serves as a foil to many jokes by keeping a straight face.
@@EssentialNPC oh, so why is it gendered
@@jplveiga It's just been carried over from the phrase's origins, when comedy was MOSTLY performed by men. People using the term aren't being sexist, but it is a bit odd that it hasn't been reformed.
Why is it gendred ? It's not. It's just a common term . Like mankind . It only becomes gendred if you take that perspective. Which you shouldn't because it's just a term . @jplveiga
"You sound scared, you should be inquisitive!" has become a permanent part of my vocabulary and plays on repeat in my brain.
same LMAO any time i see the word now (which is surprisingly often in my line of work), i hear it in princess emily’s voice
Words to live by
Honestly, I can see how it could being good motivating advice. Or one of those things where people think they are being motivating and supportive but they are actually just kinda dismissing your valid feelings and concerns.
"What kind of trouble?"
"With the leouaegh."
That’s racist, she’s from Europe
“Say what you want to name ur firstborn”
“Vic”
“That’s,,, crazy”
Vic was so quick with the most hysterical possible answer - naming their child after themselves.
I kinda want to go to a Princess Emily concert. It'd be an extremely autotuned, technicolor trainwreck, but I'm down for buffoonery.
For some reason i imagine her having those rock concert fire things in the back
You'd be on Ecstasy though. So it would be amazing.
@@YourAverageViewersyes, but instead of fire it’s glitter

Co-signed. But also all of their content is worth it. If I could only watch one thing again for the rest of my life it would be Mischief and Magic and that would be fine. There’s something for everybody.
Dropout is where nerds get to succeed and you also learn some things along the way.
see you know this shits good when everyone has a different favorite episode
Exactly! I’ve noticed such a variety in which episode different comments say is best. My personal favourite was Ify as the alien.

They’ve all been fantastic. But if I *had* to choose just one-proverbial gun to my proverbial head-I think mine would be Brian David Gilbert as Prof. Avery Goodman (who just so happens to be a very good man).
As Vic so bluntly said: “Villany. … A little villany.”
"Right in the heart of the smack of the dab" is my new fave saying, thanks 😭
the bluntness of the “you think little of me?” at 15:34 is so fucking vicious that for a sec i thought vic might have actually been in danger of being murdered by princess emily
Anna Garcia is fucking unbelievable in this episode. I've watched all the other ones, and while they're great, she is easily the most committed actor in the whole series. She just IS Princess Emily. So many great little touches - the empathy for the PAs, the random outbursts (YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO CATCH IT), the burping, etc. One of the most amazing bits of improv ever.
Yeah, everyone was great but Anna (and Izzy) disappeared into their roles, like, if not for the beginning where we see the makeup put on, I wouldn't even have clocked it as them
(That being said, I was the most invested in the dolls and election-storylines, all the episodes were great)
How have you watched all of the episodes?
@@JM-vk6me In my case, I've watched them on their streaming service :)
@@luna732 Okay me too, but all of the episodes haven't been released yet, so I was curious how they saw all of them.
I did not know what to expect from this series. But I’m in.
Vic’s thinly veiled hostility is an unexpected delight 😂
Anna was brilliant 🎉
The thinly veiled hostility is hilarious!
Thinly veiled? She is just outright hostile the entire time. It's very off putting.
@@elphbwckd212 if u think this is hostile wait til u get to the next episode lol
The way she treats her employees is hilarious. Didn’t understand what she meant by union.
Vic's hostility gets more and more obvious as the series goes on, like her guests slowly but surely cause her downward spiral 😂
"You guys can clap too!"
*Production starts clapping*
"Don't- dont clap because that's bad for audio and i think you know that"
LMAO
So far, this is the best episode that I've seen. The step-grandma one is pretty great too. But Anna Garcia needs to be featured on Dropout more. She's effortlessly hilarious.
Ex-step-grandma!
Sometimes she's a-foot-lessly hilarious
Agreed this is the least mythical / whimsy character yet has been the funniest one. Ify’s alien kind of creeped me out too much, the ex step grandma was a painful (but funny) watch, and I did love the French dolls but Anna’s takes the cake for me!
@@StudioInkblot this joke deserves more attention
I've never been more surprised as to when she went into the full splits.
Right? I audibly gasped
Am I in love???
I don't think Vic actually knew that Anna could do the splits either and that made it so much better
I already watched this on the subscription but I'll take this as an excuse to watch it again!
Now you can watch it with pre-roll advertising! The dream!
@@dropoutis there a way to subscribe in Europe?

@@chaylockyer5395 Dropout isn't region locked, so I'm assuming the problem is that you don't have a creditcard. There are online banks like N26 that'll give you a Mastercard (technically debit but can be used as a creditcard) for free, that's what I use. If you don't wanna go through that you can 'join' this youtube channel and Google will have some kind of payment option that you can use. @@chaylockyer5395 Speaking as someone from/in Europe (not the heart of the smack of the dab), yes, the same way as anywhere else. It's not region-dependent.
“Whoopsie shouldn’t have done that” actually stuck in my head
We deserve a full version and it needs to be on Spotify
"I regret it very much" great line.
I love that Vic was still trying to get a country name out of her at 5:54 :
-"..What country?"
-"Europe"

What about “Whoopsies, Shouldn’t Have Done That?”
I also would like both of the songs on SoundCloud or Spotify.
Princess Emily finding the water too salty🧂 and spitting it back in the mug was great!..but for them to go back and drink outta said mug again a few minutes later...just priceless 😂
Ahh....I commented too early in watching the video as I just seen Vic call out Emily for drinking the water again @6:50 😢😂
Still good, and still comment worthy!
This show is such a fantastic idea. Vic excels at building backstory, so this is right in their wheelhouse. The one that just came out on Dropout with Jake and Kimia is the perfect level of madness. Ya'll, I'm tellng you, if you're not subscribed to Dropout, you absolutely should.
Jojo siwas dead an i'm here now aged so well.
This is actually genius. As a European I cannot exactly figure out what country she could be from but I could not call her accent, intonation or mannerisms anything other than 'European'. It's like a mix of Swedish. Polish, Icelandic, Latvian and a few others blended together, which is very hard to get right.
I thought her accent sounded Dutch
This was the perfect episode to start the season

I can't say enough how much Dropout is just popping off with new shows and hosts. You'll have to pry this subscription from my cold dead hands
One of the reasons I want to land a new job already is so I can subscribe to Dropout and support stellar improv comedy like this. “Hello, My Name Is” was my favorite Collegehumor show and I am SO glad Dropout has revamped it with Vic as the host!
I hope Pat Cassels makes a surprise appearance in the role of a guest this time around as I don’t believe he got to do that before…
Where *is* Pat?
Denise's friend was truly iconic
Half way through I forgot princess Emily wasn’t a real person and I’m kind of sad she’s not real now
This is, this is, American Number One Superstar Show
Princess Emily was such a natural choice for premiere / YT Upload since the interview with Vic's family would probably have gotten demonetised for depictions of trauma
The only disappointing part for this was finding out that a person like this didn’t exist and this was just a Hispanic girl cosplaying. Anna is absolutely amazing, I’d love to see what other characters she can create.
I have been thinking nonstop about “right in the heart of the smack of the dab” for the last two weeks
I’m glad Dropout resurrected the spirit of Hello My Name Is

5:32 this actually needs to be a full song. For just a 13 second bit, it did not need to go that hard. But it did anyway. That chord change at 5:40 is actually beautiful

Ugh Anna Garcia is so cute.
she's a cutie patootie
Is it a coincidence that Princess Emily's songs had always given me visions of pigmy monkeys?
What an astounding premiere! I just found this show by seeing a bunch of YT shorts. I'd have thought Princess Emily was seasons into this show because of how effortless and polished it felt. I can't imagine being that good at improv comedy.
This is honestly one of the most innovative comedic concepts I've seen in a VERY long time - I am loving the creative direction this channel has been in
