Another mistake is NOT getting a deposit for projects, clients would ALWAYS bail last second. Do you have any business mistakes?
YUP!!
shout-out mee I recently used your pac of transitions in a music video that i shoot and it came out really good. in the next days is going to drop the video on my channel i don t now if you can check it out but would be epic pd: Your content made me learn and improve my videos a lot keep it up
Ive lost so much time and money due to THIS RIGHT HERE! A deposit and contract is definitely signed before I even consider them booked. The client takes you more seriously business wise as well.
I really respect you as a filmmaker and trust your abilities to produce music video... What is the best way to acquire a healthy stream of artists who want to shoot a music video? I'm reaching out to FB groups but no one is biting...
Deposits are so important. It's the easiest way to guarantee that everybody is on board while also making sure that even if they bail, it isn't a total loss.
Always ask their budget.. don’t ever say a number FIRST!
Creative Ryan so a nice wording would be, "what budget are you putting into this project?" Or how would you word it so they don't get offended.
Juan Antonio Vlog “what would be your max spending limit for this project?” “The bigger the budget you can provide the more i can offer, such as etc etc!”
Your absolutely correct!!!!
On the contrary, that can come off as you trying to take advantage of them. It's important to give them ballpark rates per hour/day, but then mention every video is different and one 2-minute video may take 5 days, vs. another 2-minute video may take 2 days.
Creative Ryan what if your client wants/ has a budget for more than you can provide ? If they say their max budget is $1000, what kind of services Should you be providing for a price point as such?
Excellent!!! In my 24 years working as a pro photographer and commercial clients, everything in writing is A MUST!!!!! All the time while I'm on the event working, the client jokingly adds things for me to do outside of the contract. I usually smile and say... "No problem, I'll have my office manager update your contracted balance. :) If they say cool...get it done...if they say nah we good, I just saved myself time and money. Keep it real. Keep it business. Keep the sanity.
GK
That's mad solid, I like a lot of freelancers are too kind to their clients and don't stand their ground cause they don't want to lose the project and client.
Facts
Thanks man you saved my time and money! All love 🤟
*Jay Z out there trying to get a video on a discount hahaha*
Now we know!! Haha but to be real I went from shooting videos on my phone to 4 months later doing some work with young dolph. It happens like that so random sometimes
Lmao... if you’re shooting a vid for Jay-Z and you only get paid $600... you messed up. These tips are hella practical. Thanks bro 🙏🏾
A common mistake is not communicating with your client, making plans, Brainstorm so you can figure out what they like and what they don't, so modifications could be minimal. Shoutouts from Morocco my G
In some places they take the "What's your budget?" question as a threat to be hustled. Slightly better option is "What exactly do you have in your mind for this project?" to start with, but the answer might still be a strange look, though
When YC said " Having a bad attitude toward projects regardless of the pay" I felt that! Excellent content!
