  • Like thousands of Tibetan children, Dholma and Sonam are refugees. Their parents have taken the drastic decision to secretly send them away to India where they will be able to grow up as true Tibetans.
Entrusted to smugglers, they have risked their lives by illegally crossing the Himalayas, a towering rampart between China and India and had to face fatigue, cold, the fear of being arrested and the pain of leaving their parents whom they might never see again.
The Mussorie school of Northern India has been founded by the Tibetan government in exile and is a refuge for about two thousand orphans. Here, Dholma and Sonam have found a new family with a new mother, new brothers and sisters.
Apart from receiving a regular school education, they also will be taught about their origins, their culture and will learn to speak Tibetan. The integration is difficult for the little newcomers, and their teachers try to heal the trauma of exile and the shock of separation.

I sponsored a Tibetan child through ICT for 8 years. His name was Passang Gyalpo. We have lost touch. I think he called me after he graduated from the Tibet Children's School in Darjeeling but the connection was so bad and his accent so strong I couldn't understand him. I cry when I think of him and hope he is doing well wherever he is.

It reminds me how I escaped from Tibet. It took 2 months to reach India as we came through mount Everest by walking days and nights. I remembered how I used to cry every night while in bed. While I reached India, i realised why I separated from my family and came to India. It's been more than 20 years since I couldn't see my family. As a Tibetan, I can testify that this documentary is the story of millions of Tibetans including my very own parents and friends. The illegal Chinese occupation of our country has taken a huge toll on our freedom and basic human rights, thereby forcing many of us into exile. For the past few decades, we have been peacefully trying to spread awareness and raise our issue on the global platform and these kind of documentaries play a huge part in educating people about our country and our stories. You can represent yourself, not other people. As far as I know, the authority of the 14th was from the central government of China since the Dalai Lama title was created in 1578, and since his authority was granted in 1587. Even in 1940, approval of the exemption of Golden Urn was approved by China.

The responsibility of receiving them and looking after the children's well-being and education was given to His Holiness The Dalai Lama's elder sister by His Holiness The Dalai Lama himself. Hence, she started a group of Tibetan schools with contribution of hardwork by many others. When she passed away, the responsibility was passed on to the younger sister. Currently there are 8 TCV Schools across India.

      I agree ATA MEDIA.
I am the sole-parent of a daughter. It has always just been the two of us since my exhusband and I split long before she was born.
I am watching this video in silent mode and using earbuds because my girl is curled up next to me, asleep in my bed. I was planning to roll over to get more comfortable, as her head is on my chest, but I can definitely wait a bit longer.
My girl was seventeen last month. Even at seventeen years old, I would not allow her to attempt the jaunts that these teeny babies have suffered to accomplish. So, the utter desperation that their parents and carers must have faced to drive them to reach the dangerous decision to risk sending their young babes unaccompanied across mountain ranges is maddeningly heartbreaking.

Brother, you have made me cry. 🙃 This is the first time I feel how much better it would be if India was much stronger. Then maybe many things would be right. Mum I really miss you This line reminds me of when I first went to primary school as a child. Don't worry bro. We Indians are trying day and night to make India a super power. Maybe it will take another 30 years once let India become strong. Then these accounts will be opened. Not only Tibet, India also has a lot to settle with China.

As an Indian I feel so proud of my country and what we’ve been able to do for this beautiful nation and its people who’ve been oppressed by the Chinese for years! More power to Tibet and it’s brave people. May this madness end some day and may the Tibetans get the freedom they deserve ❤

While I was watching it, I find this cute little boy Sonam look so familiar to me. Then I realize who he is, he'd finished the 12th grade last year and was planning to join the Indian Army. My sister- in- law was helping 6 kids from this school including Sonam, spent a day with them and treat them for movies, shopping etc. She get to know them and their stories....... although all the stories are very sad, but she feels more for Sonam's struggle cuz he got Nobody.....
Therefore, my sister-in-law feel bad for him to join the army and decided to sponser his college fee for better and higher education.

West helped China became rich...... despite knowing the fact that China invade and occupied Tibet.
and now they want Chinese money.
The World ignore the killing and all kind of suffering of Tibetans. Making a Communist rich in first place is very wrong, now there is no any Country have the balls to speak the truth and speak against them.

The absolute disgrace and complete lack of compassion and accountability from the Chinese govt and the human rights abuses towards the Tibetan people and children is sickening and these brave courageous people don’t deserve the evil and atrocities from the CCP, they have a right to live in Tibet without these human rights abuses from the Chinese govt!!!

these actors are fake .these children are not from Tibet China .they are Tibetan Indian children who never been to Tibet .no Tibetan Chinese give their children to Indian Tibetan human traders anymore ,after so many Tibetan Chinese were cheated by Tibetan indians .those who grow up in India will never have the chance to go back to Tibet .they have to struggle in India or other places to survive .because they had changed into a bunch of corpses in dharamsala .it is too risky to let them come back Tibet.that is why no Tibetan Chinese dare to send their children to this place at now .
