Why wasn't I aware of this Booktube Queen? Subscribed.
That's so lovely, thank you!
At least you found her three years ago, I have just now discovered her😢
This may seem a stupid question but could you make a video explaining the distinguishing characteristics of historical fiction vs literary fiction? and maybe a quick history of genres of English literature?
Oo okay , Maybe I’ll make a short about that
I’m so glad to hear that you loved The Shadow King! I’m so looking forward to reading it - it’s my historical fiction read for The History Challenge readathon at the end of August!
Ooo I hadn't heard of that readathon! I hope you enjoy it, it was so good
Thank you for these recommendations!! All added to my tbr!📚🙂
That's great! I hope you like them
Thanks for this! I tend to mostly enjoy 'literary' historical fiction, so your videos give me good recommendations :) The God of Small Things sounds really good. Didn't really get on with Winterson's writing but How To Be Both is a *masterpiece*.
I'm glad it's helpful for you! I find commercial historical fiction a bit much generally
I LOVED The Yellow Bird Sings by Jennifer Rosner and The Lilac Girls and Lost Roses both by Martha Hall Kelly so very much. They are definitely three of my absolute favorites.
I've never read them though I have heard of the lilac girls. I'll have to check them out!
I am pretty sure that I found your channel because of your previous historical fiction recs video.😊 And I'm happy to watch Part 2! Some of my favourite historical fiction novels are What the Winds Knows by Amy Harmon, City of Women by David R. Gillham and Atonement by Ian McEwan.🥰
Ah that's nice to hear! I absolutely adore Atonement and I think managed to leave it off both of these lists! I'll have to look up those other two because I've never heard of them
@@RoisinsReading They are goooood, it is worth to read them.😉 From your list I definitely have to read Birdsong, because years ago I started reading it, put it down because of another book and I never picked it up again... which is a shame! But I will try to fit it into my TBR.🤭
Thanks for your recmendantions.
You're welcome, if you do read any of these I hope you enjoy them!
My daughter is named Frances after the character in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Love that book!
And also City of Thieves and Rebecca (anything by Daphne du Maurier is great).
I've never read any of these so thanks for the recommendations!
OMG, I need to read them all!!!!!
Oh I hope you do!
Yea I am 😍
Birdsong is THE best book on the world!
Definitely one I need to reread soon!
