    Hey fellow artist u r hands down one of my fav and i am gunna give u some pointers when working with the beautiful but also has a mind of its own...RESIN !!! if you want the resin colors to pretty much stay in the area you are placing it with only blending when ur choose to blend it (with a heat gun )btw .... lol use a 1::1 ratio resin there are several but preferably stone coat or many kinds at micheals also wait for like 15 min till u begin to put down your resin ...that way its a a bit more curedish so it doesnt freely run wild lol...also try w a thin layer down and also try without a layer down of a thing coat of clear to cover your surface ...me personaly i only do that clear coat in certian places like if im using flakes or crystals or glass or whatever i get it nearly cured and thenmix it with the glass or crystals or gliter and that way it make me lil boarder walls to help me keep a perfect picture not only in my mind but now on my surface but still giving me enough give to change anything just a few tips for a fellow paintaholic and pour addict lol much love from Florida in the u s of crazA

    • @MKLGRMFineArt
      @MKLGRMFineArt  Před 3 lety

      thank you thank you. Very much appreciated and even more thankful for the time u took texting me :) Most of it I figured out over the time as well, the video is online for a while already bit is among my most viewed ones. I do not have access to many of the resins you have in the US. It is just a handful here but most tipps can be applied to them of course as well. Resin is pretty fascinating, isn't it...As satisfying as horrifying ;D but it is so much more relaxing and instand pleasure compared to my origin - oil painting....but I love all arts and it is fun to experiment. Do you have a YT or insta?

    Very nice. I do have a question - maybe I missed. In the corners when you begin you put down a paste with your palette knife, what is this? It appears that it gave some height and dimension. Then I see you using a paste later in the piece - is this the same? Thank you. Enjoy your videos and I have learned much from you

      J Fishman hey J :) this is the Golden mica flake paste. The same that I also used in the very beginning in the center. I have linked it in the video description so that you can have a look. You can get it in the US as well and in UK via Jackson art :)

      it is all a learning curve and especially at the beginning I find it important to not have the mindblowing result right away...this keeps one focused and intersted in reaching for the stars :)

      Oh I thought this already was step by step :D Yes I do mix acrylics into resin but dont use more than about 10% acrylics compared to the amount of resin. Just let me know if you have more questions, will answer them :)

      Is your project resin or will you start with acrylic pouring?
      I have never put alcohol or glue in the resin and would not do it to be honest...but I have used glue to mix colors for acrylic pouring.
      I do have a video you might want to see...I will send you the link...

    I loved both of the agates you did this week. I especially like that gold mica paint. I found a place where I can order it but was wondering if you are using the one with small mica flakes or large. It adds a nice sparkly flare to the geode.

    • @MKLGRMFineArt
      @MKLGRMFineArt  Před 6 lety +1

      marina brantner I have the one with the small flakes. I never had the other one do cannot say how much of a difference there is. But that stuff is quite pricy. The 946ml canister was about 70 eur but this stuff also goes a long way so it is pretty cool :)

      Thanks Michael. I'm thinking of getting the 4 oz size. I figured it only takes a small amount for each piece and will last a long time.

    • @MKLGRMFineArt
      @MKLGRMFineArt  Před 6 lety

      yes that goes a long way. As I had the shipping from UK it was better getting the biggest jar right away. If you have golden mica flakes itself and acrylic binder you can actually make something pretty similar yourself.

    • @MKLGRMFineArt
      @MKLGRMFineArt  Před 6 lety

      Desha Thompson the glass is actually real glass. I bought it broken as it is. It will take the color of the paint you pour around it. I have linked all my materials in the video description to let you see them and look that you can get something similar around your area. I also have those glass in already colored versions...so whatever you can get :)

      Desha Thompson yes the links all lead to my German amazon page. Just search for the name of the product in your amazon and you might find it as well. :) if you don’t have it in your amazon but you can let it ship to you from Germany then fine as well, the order process is the same in each language. Otherwise jacksonart UK also had this on stock

    How long does it take to fully dry?

    • @MKLGRMFineArt
      @MKLGRMFineArt  Před 5 lety

      Natalia beach bum that depends on the resin you use. The art resin needs about 8 hrs until it is not sticky anymore, the resin8 resin took about 2-3 hrs to be able to touch. Completely cured they are after 1-2 days
