- Create a quick and easy geode, using hot glue, resin, stones and acrylic gems. I have seen many people ask how they can create a geode and how to stop the resin lines from blending into each other. This video was an experiment to see if hot glue would help solve this problem and as you can see from the results, it worked quite well.
To recreate this hot glue and resin geode you will need:
• Resin: Standard UV Resin from U-Resin: bit.ly/StandardUVResin
• Hot Glue Gun and glue: amzn.to/2TclwBi
• Glitter, any inexpensive glitter, fine glitter is best: amzn.to/2TLdt3E
• Board to resin on, I used a Kmart wooden placemat
• Paint to mark out the colours on the board (optional)
• Plastic Cups: amzn.to/2CqTQTs.
• Wood stirrers:amzn.to/2Y5HklL.
• India Ink: amzn.to/2TiyYDy - US | amzn.to/2Stcn8R - UK | amzn.to/2JIzY1c - AU
• Acrylic Diamonds: bit.ly/acrylicdiamonds - Alternative Product: amzn.to/2Y7pVJi - US | amzn.to/2XWbdUt - UK

I took a resin course last year and the art teacher posted me my art with all the dirt of the mess of the resin paint behind.. believe it or not.. now this is a nice tip on how to clean the back of your board. Tks for sharing your knowledge. I love this one so much
My pleasure, I am delighted you found it to be helpful 🥰
I've watched many resin geode videos. This seemed the easiest and I love the way it turned out. I've seen others use silicone instead of hot glue.
This idea was to give a solution to avoid the colours running into each other. Resin doesn’t stick to silicone, so is good to use to create freeform shapes.
Thank you for the resin hack. I never have enough patience to let it thicken so my colours won't muddle together. Brilliant idea. Subbed x
This piece is beautiful!!! Dimensional fabric paint also works great! I like it most if i want the lay down the before having them blend. Thanks so much for this excellent video.
Thank you for your tips, I haven’t tried dimensional paint 💕
Love the video, explanation and the sound quality of your videos Sue. Very easy to listen and learn! Thank you!
Thank you Paula, i appreciate your feedback and I am delighted that you enjoyed the video 💕
Kindly do post a video on type of crystals and stones you use. I'm from india.it would help me procure appropriate stones.most Crystal beads come with hole for roping through. I can't see how yours are.
@@SueFindlay Paula I dont see the list of items you used, can you tell me how I can find it?
blue lotus the gems I use are also known as diamond confetti and can be used table decorations. Amazon and AliExpress sell similar items.

Thank you Deborah 💕
Glad to hear that the glue worked with the resin. Great idea. I saw another artist use I think it’s called magic sculpt, but I have to say this looks easier and also less expensive way it do it. Loved the effect of the India ink. Turned out super. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, much appreciated 😍
That was great love your geode 😍
Thank you 💕
This is really interesting. Glad I found your video. I watched a video where someone had used this epoxy material for creating the lines. Can't recall what it is called but it is like a rubber that dries hard. Instead of using the epoxy material I thought I would try using the glue gun just like you do. I find it is the best method for making geodes. :)
I am glad you found it helpful. 💕
I love this.
Thank you 💕

Love the piece on the left behind you. Looks fabulous. Do you have a video on it? Would really like to see it being done.
Sorry, I don’t have a video on that one. I made that before I started making videos. I may create something similar to show the process 😉
resin is the best glue....for the hooks
I didn’t want to mix more up just for the hanging device. 😉
You're amazing I love your work ❤ 💖
Thank you 💕
Thank you loved the video
You’re welcome 💕
Brilliant !!!!
Thank you 💕
I love your videos. IF you have E6000 glue available there, it's an excellent choice for gluing on hangers. I live in Florida, also very hot, and have had the hot glue slip a bit and fail but E6000 never fails. They also have a version without the odor here, which I totally love.
I no longer use Hot Glue, I use Tarzan Glue, that stuff is not budging. ;-) 💕
Sue Findlay Awesome! I’ll have to find that and try it. I hope they have that in the US.
amazing!
Thank you 💕
Maravilloso!!!! 😘

Hi Jackie, glad you enjoyed the video 💕
Beautiful! You can use glitter colour glue sticks for glue gun.
Nice idea 💕
Good job waw. Thanks for the vidéo .

Thanks Hema, much appreciated 💕
So inspiring Sue, and lovely to hear an English voice. Speaking of which, I have been looking all over for the large acrylic stones that you use and don't even know what to put in the search engine! Do you think I would be able to source them in the UK? I am a complete beginner so not savvy at resourcing materials yet. Any tips much appreciated.
I am delighted that you enjoyed the video. I source the gems from local discount stores and haven’t tried to purchase the online. I will see if I can find out who the supplier is and will get back to you.
Thankyou it was Awesome 💯♥️
Thank you and you're welcome 💕
Thumbs up! Very nice, I stumbled across your video and I watched, it was fun. Im a new supporter for you* this Geode turned out very pretty! I use an attachment on my heat gun to scrape off the drips, it works wonders if u ever want to try that!
Thank you for the idea for the attachment and I am glad you enjoyed the video 💕
I love it❤❤
Thank you 💕
I wish I thought of glue - which I have scads of - instead of running out for silicone. Great video, thank you
It's all a learning process, glad to be of service 😍
It' s wonderfull
Thank you 💕
Great video your voice and accent is soothing and relaxing . =-) Beautiful design , must try this
Thank you for your kind words 💕
Woow Beautiful 😱💖👍
Thank you xx
Dankeschön 😘
You’re welcome 💕
Hi Sue. I'm a new subscriber and LOVE this video. I have resin that I need to use before it yellows but have been quite intimidated with the process. Seeing your video has sparked my courage!!! THANK YOU 💕! I was wondering as I watched this video if this would with on stretched canvas.
I am delighted that this video has given you some inspiration to get creative. I would not recommend using a stretched canvas, as the weight of the resin and stones will cause it to sag in the middle. I suggest using a board, it can be a wooden place mat, just like in the video.
@@SueFindlay Thank you for the guidance. Can't wait to try this as one of my winter projects.
This is incredible♥️ a real piece of art, thank you so much for this tutorial, it’s very helpful. I was wondering what kind of colors you used? And can I use glass colors with resin? Thank you again ♥️ I’m looking forward for more.
Thank you, it was a while since I did this, so can’t remember the actual colours. It was more about creating a barrier to stop the resin from running into each other. I am not sure about using glass colours. I think if they are oil based you can’t use them.
Sue Findlay thank you so much ♥️
The demonstration was informative & terrific! I’m definitely going to give it a try. Thinking on a larger scale... since the glue creates partitions, do you think the project could be done in sections over a period of time?
I don't see why not.
ever considered implementing EL wires and fiber optics? I love color changing effects but since EL wires are of solid colors I came up with this idea. Pull black heat shrink tubing over el wires alternatively. Let's say 12" over red, then no tubing, then 12" over blue, ETC. Then twist EL wires and glue them together. Now when EL wires are hooked up to separate controllers in the slow on of mode what will happen that different colors will show up in areas where the tubing is present and a mix of colors will show in areas without any tubes.
I wonder if I made myself clear. It is clear in my head but probably confusing for others :-)
Lol, I think I understand what you are saying. I haven’t incorporated any lights in resin yet, although, I have toyed with the idea. 😉
Soo Beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you 💕
I am so new at this that my first Geode is still being developed in my head. I loved the information you shared in this video, very informative. I am wondering can shared shell pieces be used in resin? I have some very beautiful ones I was thinking of incorporating into a piece, they are very iridescent and soft pastel colors that would work with the color pallet I am thinking of using.
I don't see why not. You can use all kinds of items in resin, your only limitation is your imagination. The absolutely best way to find out, is to give it a go and experiment. Good luck xx
Thanks, I will let you know
awesome :)
Thank you 💕
great sue
Thank you 😀
Love this was wondering if hot glue would work for texture?
I have made a tree using hot glue, there is a video somewhere on my channel
Wonderful, can you show the brown one geode behind you thanks
Sorry, I don't have a video of that one.
