  • Detailed instructions for tying a Green Caddis Larva Fly.
    Hook: Standard emerger hook (here, a Dia-Riki 125), size 16.
    Weight: .015 lead-free wire, 6 or 7 wraps.
    Thread: UTC 70 Denier, brown.
    Rib: Ultra Wire, brassie size, fluorescent chartreuse.
    Dubbing: Australian possum, sparse, light olive.
    Thorax: Australian possum, dark brown.

    I use this patten tied with a copper rib and a brown body and pecock herl tied in at the head on the under side to simulate legs. also works really well in the green body.This patten is deadly at the Awahou stream mouth on lake Rotorua New Zealand both during the day and at night when the hatch is under way.Cheers

    Just made one of these, but used green thread instead of the Chartreuse wire, and it does not look too bad..
