Many thanks for your comments - At the time I was using Elixir Nanoweb Nickels (.45-.105) which were fairly new, around 14 hours play wear but they stay fresh for a very long time :) Since then I have changed to the Elixir Nanoweb Stainless - same gauge but they have a more aggressive mid-range which suits me better. Ive had quite a few amps over the years and I sold my Ampeg to buy my Ashdown rig (I can drop you a PM with the details of it if youre interested). Ive used it a hell of a lot now and honestly, it sounds better than anything Ive ever had and not once let me down. Its had some serious use too. I absolutely cant fault it!
This demo persuaded me to pick up a 550 head as well, as I absolutely love both the clean and overdriven tones. Only thing is, my amp won't overdrive at all, regardless of the bass (active or passive), input, tone or gain control settings I use! Weird eh?!
@asimovjoe Yes, I tried all combinations, and even with everything up full, active and passive basses tried in both inputs, it wouldn't get gritty. I already have a message in to the guys so am sure there'll be a response in due course. Great video by the way.
The chordy melodic thing you played here, what is that from? I recognise it but I can't remember! The Harmonicy bit is Jaco inspired yes? :) Great demo man!
@walbassist Strange?! When I was doing the video I pretty much cranked the gain to full to get that sound - I take it you've tried turning it on full? I'll let the guys at Ashdown know and I'm sure they can get that sorted for you :)

That melodic bassline in the beginning sounds kinda like "To Build a Home" by: The Cinematic Orchestra (feat. Patrick Watson). I love that song.

very nice,very nice.this is for me i'm looking for gigs head like this and those cabs i would replace whit two 1x12 i think 2x12 will handle the power

Umm.... the 550 IS the amp. The 550 amp is running through two VS 1x15 speaker cabinets.
