In this video, Sam takes a look at the compact, lightweight but powerful Ashdown ORIGIN AL bass guitar amplifier...a 300w head that delivers that classic Ashdown tone but weighing only 2.4kg!
Designed with ease of use in mind, Ashdown Engineering say that this amp takes them back to the origin of their tone, hence the name. It's simple design features a 5-band EQ (bass, lo-mid, mid, hi-mid & treble), switchable input (active or passive), adjustable input and out levels, DI output, effects loop and the iconic Ashdown VU meter.
Small and portable, the Origin can run down to 4 ohms, offering enough power for most gigging, rehearsal and studio situations. Take a quick look and listen with PMTVUK, and make sure to check one out at your local Professional Music Technology...

Great illustration of the tone controls. Thank you!!
For all those bass players with four 16ohm cabs! Nice review BTW!
really helpful!
Sounds awesome! I'd prefer more power similar to all the other micros on the market. But to me , this is the best tone I've heard in these smaller heads
Its 300watts. Fine for every place you would play outside of arenas of course.
Would this work better through just 1 Ampeg classic 4x10 or running a full stack (i.e. The Fridge)??? Thanks.
Is the DI post or pre EQ? I cannot find this anywhere,
this is a very good amp
Nice
NOOOO, smily graphic EQ is the worst!
Can be used without load? Let's say I want only the DI or headphone when I'm on the road.
Yes
how many watts does the 4 ohm output have?
180 watts into a 8 ohm load and 300 watts into a 4 ohm load.
is 300w loud enought for gigs and rehershall?
Yes
More than enough man. Have a decent cabnet and that can be used for most real world settings
Yes
Does not sound 2 good. Should've had a bass player playing the bass.
The problem with this demo, I think, is that the gain staging wasn't setup properly. The VU meter was hitting too low. You have to get the pad switch and input gain setup healthy near the red zone on the VU. That's why the tone controls demo was uninspiring.
