  • My review of the Pocophone F3 from Xiaomi. The best performance phone from Pocophone. Xiaomi is using this device as their global edition of the Redmi K40. With an excellent screen, Snapdragon 870 and coming in at $300-$350 this is an incredible well valued device.

I keep looking for newer device came after F3 for 9 months now. You know what, till this day nothing beats the compromise free experience of this phone. Some minor issues in the video actually got resolved, noticably the stereo which now is much-much better.
However. There are many things reviewers did not talked about:
    1. The amazing auto-HDR feature. It turns any CZcams (when the detected scene is possible) to be HDR. It's not perfect but it is really noticable.
    2. Always On Display that has animation, yeah.
    3. Audio zoom / object-firing microphone that enhance the audio of the object that's being zoomed in in the video
    4. Ultra smooth AI video that can be enabled
    5. High refresh rate gaming
    6. 4K HDR 10-bit H265 playback!
    7. Really really good heat dissipation which make the phone throttle less than SD 888 counterparts, ended up sometimea outperforming them in long gaming sessions.
    8. Almost same sized all around screen bezel, which is satisfying to look.
    9. The dark mode that applies to any app (even without dark mode support)
    10. AMOLED black mode, which increases black point that saves more battery
    11. Very satisfying super wallpaper (pixel looking)
    12. GCam compatible at best, and very quick too at snapping pictures in the dark
    13. Very great macro videography
    14. Motion interpolation for videos, which sometimes noticable :)
    15. Full speed PS2 emulation (some even 3x render)
    16. Noise-free wired audio even at very sensitive headphones like my KZ ZSN Pro
Yeah and so many little more stuffs really. Some are gimmicks but at least they deserves some attention.

To be honest, their new flagship phones are pretty good and I wouldn't mind recommending them, but I don't really trust their mid-range to low-end phones, like the A-series. Those feel like they will be a pain in the ass to use in a few years, becoming slow and laggy. That's my impression from years ago though, not sure how the newer models would hold up.

Everytime I went back to grab something off my old F1 it just feels smoother. Doesn't matter that the new phone has a 120hz display, it just doesn't feel as snappy. POCO F3 or Galaxy A52 5G?
Well I've had my Poco F1 for almost 3 years now and I'd pick Poco. I don't like MIUI but I use custom ROMs. I don't care much about cameras and honestly Poco's other phones are annoying as they're mostly just rebranded Xiaomi devices, but the F3 seems to be really good.
With that processor, a custom ROM like Pixel Experience+ and that display, you could use it for 5 years.
The only complaint I have with my Poco F1 is that after 3 years, the gigantic notch and chin are pretty dated. I don't particularly have an issue with 60Hz but in the year where all phones are going higher, it seems a bit dated. Also the display is LCD. There's a fair bit of burn in after 3 years and I really want AMOLED
The Poco F3 has 120Hz, no giant notch, a slight chin which doesn't even matter, and AMOLED. It checks all the boxes plus it comes with the SD870.
The A52 5G is a nice phone, but I'd take the Poco F3
