The more we react to Indian stuff.. the deeper we go down into the mystery hole haha. I've been studying ancient Buddhist philosophy the past few months, and it's really making me want to visit India. If I have the time to go, maybe I can actually do the trip and finally get to really know India

It's a traditional dance of Rajasthan (one of the state of India).. everyone was willing for your reaction may be because this type of dance is only perform by the trained folk dancers and Deepika is a actress so it is difficult to dance on any of the folk dance and she danced soo well.. she really dance in a typically traditional Rajasthani folk dance

Ye true! And also it's hard to dance that well wearing a headgear which weighs 3kg and a dress that weighs nearly 30kg

Total 45 kg's on her body... seems nothing special to you danny and david ... but still that indian vibe. Everybody won't understand ..... this is our one of the traditional dance forms ... that still exist .... its about a queen or rani padmini who along with the other wemen of the kingdom gets immersed in fire in order to save themselves from the hands of the enemy..... p.s dont miss this movie u both.... especially for ranveer singh . . The most intreeging .... devilish... and disturbing character.. .
Amazing fact: ranveer singh playing allaudin khilji (negative) has to visit phsychiatrist to get himself out of the character of allaudin.... doesn't that makes it the most anticipating movie... i can give you many more reasons to watch it

Dear Hindustani Bhaiyon and Behenon, Stop suggesting traditional music videos like Ghoomar or Pinga to DKDKTV. It is just not their cup of tea. We may understand Indian classical dance and music and be super excited about it but they are not. Stop shoving our interests down their throat by nagging them on every video. Do you like seeing them watch something they are not that amused and excited by? I don't. You may love pizza but someone else might not. You told them to try it and it is still not their thing, should you keep forcing them to try it? My recommendation would be to suggest our more westernized cinema and songs, that might be more to their liking. I totally get that ya'll love Desi culture and hope they will too. Accha nahi lagtha hain jab koi humare desh ko ajeeb tarahse dekke, jaise hum koi circus ki bandhar ho. Humare traditional culture inko samajh mein nahi aah raha hain. Todi si mazak udathe hain humare. It might be unintentional but please don't expose us to ridicule. Please?

    • @beyondallcontrol
      @beyondallcontrol Před 6 lety +19

Mujhe laghta nahin ke ye purposefully mazakh udha rahe hain. Unke man mein woh shayed soch rahein hain ke woh open minded ban rahein hain but the thing is bohut se cultures close minded hote hain. Agar tum koi humare desh ki gulley ki gunde types ko Kpop dikhaye toh woh zaroor koi racist "ching-chong" type stuff zaroor kahenge. Danny especially bohut close minded hain music ke barre mein. Usko sirf ek tareh ka old school and hipster type music pasand hain. Aur woh sab music joh different hain mazak udatha hain. Inko more world exposure and open mind ki zaroorath hain. In the mean time, our folks need to stop shaming themselves.

Sometimes it's not the epic scenes or action scenes which make a song or a movie great but the culture and exotic tradition shown in it which makes it a great watch. And I think the song Ghoomar did an amazing job in doing that.

Of course, this is epic. Look at the set (which is a real palace by the way), the detailing, the synchronization, the dance form is beautiful, belongs to the state of Rajasthan. Wearing that jewelery and dress and dancing in so much sync with such a large group is difficult. The director and the team's hard work shows. You should read about this dance form, then you will know.

What is special - it's a folk song with dance that reflects traditions thousands of yrs old ( used till date ) . The movie is based on a true story of a women's self respect , valour and her ability to stand for her kingdom by doing something that left a mark on Indian history, which is spoken about, respected and remembered till date !!
Yes we love and respect our traditions and movies like these give outsiders a glimpse into our rich traditions n history - which makes it very very special .Every small detail that has been captured from her clothes , her jewelry, lyrics ( its meaning ), dance steps has a very old story behind it - which to people like you equals traditional Indian " stuff" . Delve into knowing how those dresses , jewelry, forts, were put together one piece at a time , spending hundreds and thousands of man hours - you will start appreciating and understanding what is special about it . Your eyes generalise a certain look as " traditional Indian " without being able to pick the difference and cultures of various Indian states called India .
Lastly - nothing in the world is special - movements , actions, timing, craftsmanship etc of people that changed the course of history make things special and this movie is about one such incident which is why every one is so hyped about it.
You don't need pelvic thrusting , boobs popping naked men and women dancing to automated music in a virtual porn show with absolutely no connection to artistry , lyrics etc to make something special .
Apologies your - whats special remark pissed me off !!

I feel like you guys should stop reacting to indian videos. If you stop reacting to it, people will stop asking for the video and you can stick to KPOP. I am from an Indian background and because of my knowledge on the culture, the song was fascinating to me. I get that you guys found nothing special about it cause you don't really know what it is about but I'd rather you not react to Indian videos if you are just going to make fun and be condescending about it in the end. If it was a modern song then I couldn't care less but this is an adaptation of a folk song and dance that has been around for a long time. So if you don't feel like reacting to an indian video next time, especially a traditional one, please don't do it. You can always ignore/ delete or block comments.

Padmawati is a movie about queen Padmawati from rajasthan, who saved her honour by burning herself alive( Johar) instead of falling in the hands of enemy allauddin khilaji after her husband Ratan singh was killed in battlefield. Its very popular incident in Indian history. And as per ghumar is a traditional folk dance.

I guess people really value your opinion and reactions related to how Koreans see international or mixed race people or their cultures. A lit sad that you guys really weren't happy about doing this video. Its understandable to be disappointed to be constantly asked to do a video that you might not be interested in but I feel like it was really rude for you to repeat it so many times that you weren't into it. You shouldn't have done it if you didn't want to. Ps- The personal attack on those people to commented on your videos to do a reaction video for this song was a bit too much. Anyway, keep up the good work and thank you for your efforts for making new and creative videos. (Side note - Congratulations David! )

Rebecca, thank you for expressing this. Honestly, I get it from both perspectives. Indians love themselves some Bollywood and can be intense about fangirling over all things Bollywood. So, I don't doubt that a lot of them nagged the crap out of Danny and David. BUT... idk if they mean to or not but I feel othered in their reactions of Bollywood. It feels like they are looking down on the Bollywood videos they see it as odd or peculiar (Danny more so than David). I wish he would be more open to other world perspectives. I really love these guys and their channel and I keep trying to tell myself that Bollywood and Indian culture may not be for everyone and that is ok. I am trying not to be oversensitive. BUT... their reactions actually make me feel othered and sad.

And the fact that the director managed to pull it it off same to same as tradition and he didnt add extra spice as modern directors do.. or the fact that Deepika was able to complete this dance with all her grace wearing a 30 kg dress and fire in hands.. is what makes it special. googleweblight.com/i?u=en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghoomar&grqid=cc-yBiXC&hl=en-IN

How abt you view it in silence even if you dont have a few good words to say about it! You don't get the point because, to appreciate the subtle beauty of other cultures around the world, you have to be a little sensitive and have large hearts and open minds and not expect scintillating video shots and nightclub music. I have a dear korean friend who used to despair about the brashness of the new generation korean youth.....and the way you two (black shirt in particular) dismiss this song just proves his words right. You may have biked to Busan, but you have a long way to reach in the appreciation of world music and cinema, my friends. Maybe just stick to reviews of cheap hollywood movies.

  • @rnair4u

The dance is called Ghoomar and is traditionally performed by women in royal families, especially newly wedded women. I don't know if you guys noticed the lamps using which she danced in the end. I understand it might seem weird to you as such traditional songs and dances may seem like a culture shock and risk being stereotyped in the 'tunak tunak tun' mould. What makes this video so special is the fact that it portrays authentic, traditional Indian art and culture - something which is rare in Bollywood, they traditionally make very little historical epics and 'bollywood' dance which may seem exotic to foreigners, is basically a horrible mish mash of Indian and Western dance forms.

We too watch ur westernised kpop songs without understanding ur language and still try to apprieciate it. Maybe cultural things doesnot matter to you guys much. But people here grow up learning our culture and traditions with the pace of modernity. I wish i could put u guys in that heavy costume and make u dance with fire along with traditional poses..then you could have understood how it is special. I apologise if i sound mean. Its just that im highly dissapointed by ur reaction. Atleast make use of internet before reviewing anything...atleast about its background if its historical. Well, I am not Indian, I am from Bangladesh but Indian movies and songs have somewhat big influence in our country. So what I can remember from my experience that this song became viral in our country when it came out because of some news going on about controversies inside India regarding this song. I don't know if you have seen this movie yet, this movie is about a particular war between a Rajput king and a ruler of Khilji Dynasty. Not going into that detail, You can google more about them. But the main controversy was regarding the song depicting the dance of a Rajput Queen, which is considered insulting to them. If I am not offending anyone here, I learned that Rajput culture is a bit conservative and they preserve their women's pride in some sort of social seclusion. Dancing in front a crowd even though they were all women, created some controversy and intrigued hatred towards it among some conservative groups. There were threats coming from them towards the artists and the director. The whole commotion of arguments and counter-arguments made the whole thing kind of viral. But that's not the whole thing, many people in this region like more historical aesthetics, concepts, and traditional music so in that sense, it was very beautiful even though it does not go with the taste in music choice of many others. You can check the news links below for further details if you are interested.

Even then, the nation was divided and still in conflict, upon their departure. Under Mogul rule, India was one of the superpowers of the world in its time, because it was united, although I agree, many of the rulers were oppressive, but most were actually good and brought prosperity to the country.

It may come across as a song that's hard to understand. But yes, if you want to talk about Indian traditional roots, this would be considered one of them. Its a very old way of dancing, singing, attire and even the way the instruments are being used for the song, it def has an "arirang" vibe. A lot of people are looking forward to this movie because they really put alot of work into the visual effects and overall production of the film. Also, the two main characters have been rumored to be dating in real life for a while now. So whenever they appear in a movie together, fans spaze out (similar to the fan base of the famous Song-song couple from descendants of the sun). Although it must be hard to review indian songs, its super cool of you guys to do it anyway! Esp considering you have a Korean background - its extremely entertaining! Ghumar dance form is from Rajasthan a state of India. It is a traditional dance form solely done by married women. In older days It was supposed to be performed by the newly married queens in Royal Palaces as a ritual so as to make herself feel free and accommodated in the new Royal household. it could be only watched by the King himself..no other male was allowed to be present during Ghumar.

  • @pratibhajaiswaljaiswal2926

Calm down people ...It's okk they are just not aware about the facts like load of jewellery and dress she is wearing in song....if we keep aside the facts and just talk about the performance then just by having a look at dance without considering facts it's comparatively less amazing . Can't we just take it as they are appreciating more to our other performances .otherwise we all know India is incredible in its own no need to prove it. We all love our country .

The movie represents the courage and bravery of the women of Rajasthan (a state of India). The film is based on a historic event. Queen Padmaavati along with the other women of the kingdom, committed suicide by jumping into fire(also known as 'Jauhar'). They did this while the men of the kingdom were at war beside the king, not allowing the enemy king to capture their kingdom of Mewar (?). The enemy king was not of the same religion and waged war just because he was so mesmerized by the beauty of the Queen and desperately wanted her to be his. The women could not stand, rather tolerate, becoming the property of others. They could not let their honour be stained and hence, proudly ended their lives as a sign of superiority and strong will. In the end, the enemy king could not get what he wanted and the King of Mewar died at the Battlefield.
This is all that I could remember and put in short for you to understand the attachment that we Indians have with the film, the song and the dance. It's as if your heart is thumping throughtout your body and you can't help yourself but simply appreciate each and every thing that is shown in the movie. It is more or less an accurate representation of a part of our glorious history. It may be because we are emotional. That's because it is our very culture.😊
I hope this might help you understand the hype your viewers had then... 'cause I'm like really really late.😅 But I enjoyed the video and hope to see more reactions. 😁

When I first watched the song, I honestly had more expectations from it bc of the hype padmavati has, but I didn't know Deepika wore 30kg of weight, so I'm feeling kinda proud of her now but I still think the song is okay compared to the hype.

Ghoomar is traditional dance done in Rajasthan.. (india) ..thus, this movie is based on rajasthan's or say mewar queen QUEEN PADMAVATI.. This story is based on true story which happened during many years before and the rani Padmavati (role done by deepika) fight for her self respect and burned into huge fire so that rival king doesn't caught her.. Since then rani /queen Padmavati is treated as goddess In rajasthan (india)..

Padmavati was an exceptionally beautiful princess of the Singhal kingdom now in (Sri Lanka). Ratan Sen, the Rajput ruler of Chittor Fort, heard about her beauty from a talking parrot named Hiraman. After an adventurous quest, he won her hand in marriage and brought her to Chittor. Alauddin Khalji, the Sultan of Delhi, also heard about her beauty, and laid siege on Chittor, in Rajasthan, to obtain her. Many events occurred during the period of the siege, till the fort was finally taken. Meanwhile, Ratan Sen was killed in a duel with Devpal, the king of Kumbhalner, who was also enamoured with Padmavati's beauty. Before Alauddin Khalji could capture Chittor, Padmavati and her companions committed Jauhar (self-immolation) to protect their honour. After her sacrifice, the Rajput men died fighting on the battlefield. The movie is based on this story...but it has variations. And as for Ghumar, it is the traditional dance form of Rajasthan.

It's a folk dance from the desert state in India called Rajasthan and the dress is called ghagra and the entire costume weights 10 kgs and the jewellery is 5-8 kg silver. So once u start u take circle in choreography it's tough to stop because of momentum. While shooting in real location the temperatures go around 45-48 degree Celsius which is hot. They still managed to do it beautifully showing the culture of the place.

I have a feeling you guys won't like this movie, it's just not your type. Only spend the three hours if you have nothing else to do...
(PS: basically all movies have an intermission in India -- it's just expected. Even western films are given an intermission if you watch it in the cinema hall. It's nothing special.
PPS: My two cents on what Bollywood movie you should watch if you get the chance... Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. A modern classic, and I feel like David in particular will like it. Danny, I'm not so sure... Don't think he's the Bollywood type to begin with!)

This dance style is from Rajasthan, most famous for its brave kings and queens. Since each state has its own unique dance and culture, I feel the director and Deepika have nailed the dance to the last step.
Since it is a story of Hindu valour, chivalry and sacrifice against the Muslim invaders it is very dear to and a matter of great pride to all Indians

India is very diversed in cultures in different states. This song is basically focused on rajasthan where queen padmavati lived. This music and dance is called rajasthani falk dance. In that era ghoomar was performed by queens to show love to their kings(husbands). And ya the jewellery that deepika wear also represents rajasthan. 400 kgs of gold was used just to make the queen padmavati's jewellery for this movie.

Not to forget the pedophile vibes him n all the old actors give out in their movies by romancing more than half of their aged younger actresses. Better save ur time n energy n go watch something else.

GHOOMAR is the GODDESS of rain in Rajasthan (a western state of India). Rajasthan is a quite dry area that's why they praise GODDESS GHOOMAR with dance and all that stuffs for rain.
