    skynyrd was the background to our lives in the 70's growing up southern boys, and they summed up the southern spirit with this one...great reaction...you can never go wrong with ronnie and the gang

    I heard Ronnie told his dad he wouldn't live past 30. And, when the album came out because of the flames on the cover being on Ronnie and Steve the next batch they printed, the flames were taken off them because of their deaths.

    Southern boogie rock! "You Got That Right" got plenty of radio play back in the day. And with those piano pyros and that guitar wizardry, how could it not?

  • @sonnywolfblues

    The greatest Southern Rock ever.The way they mixed up elements of Country,Rock n Roll and Blues and created their amazing sound.

    • @BST-lm4po
      @BST-lm4po Před rokem +3

      Ronnie repeatedly said that he didn't like the label "Southern Rock". It was a term that the record company hung on them! Ronnie felt that it was a stereotype that kind of pigeon-holed them into one particular genre! (The Confederate flag prop was the record company's idea too!) Ronnie wanted to be known as just a kick ass Rock band, not a "Southern" Rock band. With the addition of Steve Gaines you can hear their sound changing, and Ronnie was trying to shake off the stereotype!
      *All that being said, the South can definitely take pride in Lynyrd Skynyrd!

      @@BST-lm4po They were the greatest "Rock " Band ever ,especially live . No doubt . L.S was heavily influenced by the Stones , Beatles ,Yardbirds ,and even more so by Free. Ronnie was always trying to not sound like Greg Allman ,and struggling to sound like Paul Rogers . Sh!t Kikin' rock band they were ... , from the South . That's it .

      RVZ was 100% a Lyrical genius. They developed their talent honed it and they hit the circuit. The right person finally saw the band play and they opened for the Who and they were so nervous they all took a drink to go on stage and it didn't stop for a few years, Steve was a cog in the machine that made all the other cogs tighten up and devote the time back to the music. Then that dam day Oct 20 1977 F*** they were headed to take over the world as the premier Rock n Roll band.LYNYRD SKYNYRD pre 77 no band better to me

    This has got to be one of the greatest rock & roll tunes of all time. The slide guitar work is impeccable, spot on timing, Steve Gaines' lead is awesome, trading vocals and harmonies, piano in the background, drums keeping the beat and the fills, bass riffs ripping, ! It's all there, so much going on in this song, all blending into a Southern Rock symphony. I was fortunate to see them live at Anaheim Stadium before the tragedy, a lifetime memory. LONG LIVE LYNYRD SKYNYRD! Thanks for reviewing Biz.............

    Steve Gaines and Ronnie are trading vocals on this one. Steve was the new weapon for Skynyrd, aside from his guitar skills , he was a great singer and wrote several songs on this album. That’s what makes the plane crash such a tragedy. Steve Gaines added a new flavor , talent and more firepower for Skynyrd and it ended so quickly and tragically. We were robbed of some incredible talent and future music from these guys.

    True story: A very close friend used to procure a certain illicit substance for the band whenever they were in Baltimore. This close friend was also pretty tight Ronnie Van Sant and my friend told me Ronnie was very upset about the alleged racist nature of the band. He went on to say that originally the band wanted to play Rhythm and Blues but that was nixed by the label who wanted them to be a straight up Southern Rock band, cuz they were crazy good at it. This is a true story, as far as I know.
