  • A west Philly fireman taking his kids to school stopped to watch the firemen of the 7th and 11th battalions of the Philadelphia Fire Department in action. At this fire near 52nd and Walnut streets, members are seen stretching lines and performing a vent enter and search. Firemen of the 7th and 11th performed admirably in quickly containing the blaze. Philadelphia’s west Philly companies are historically some of the busiest firemen in the country.
