Brennan Huff, a sporadically employed thirty-nine-year-old who lives with his mother, Nancy. Dale Doback, a terminally unemployed forty-year-old who lives with his father, Robert. When Robert and Nancy marry and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced to live with each other as step brothers. As their narcissism and downright aggressive laziness threaten to tear the family apart, these two middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys will orchestrate an insane, elaborate plan to bring their parents back together. Well... You see the reason for that is to accentuate the level of maturity both Dale and Brennan have. They are very immature and nuggets with french fries typically is more for children as fish and salad is for adults. It's a play on the characters.

@@peterbach1126 I mean I get that what you’re saying but there are adults that like chicken nuggets and french fries but I’ve they did it on purpose because they act like little kids funny thing about that if there’s some adults I do have a little kid especially when parents so they’re reason to be spoiled like I’ve been spotted to and when I came in adult I mean I still get a disability check every month because I’ve had a learn disability so I’ve always had a disability check since I was seven so I was still helping with the bills and everything but and I was staying here my mother helping take care of my mom when I was 16 but anyway because I was spoiled when they both passed away I had a hard time living on my own my mom said before she passed away I was only thing she regret you know how to babying me for so long because there’s like things I’m trying to learn like I have a boyfriend that has two kids that he has custody of I’m trying to learn to be a certain way but it’s kind a hard when I was raise a certain way I’m at now that was raised to not share or anything like that but it’s just that when I never had to use it you know so yeah I’m trying to learn how to be more independent me I’m pretty independent parents pass away I learn to be in a bit and then I was going to relation my boyfriend I’m trying to learn to be in this serious relationship you know it’s hard to explain but yeah that’s why you know you can’t baby your kids enough for too long or treat him a little bit like an adult but when you don’t want your baby them and try to hand them everything they’re gonna be lost when you get older and the sad part is I think this generation of kids are going to be lost because to many parents baby their kids nowadays you know because of all the technology they hand it to them and say that people need to stop doing that because eventually they’re not gonna be here forever

He’s a super nice man. He has ties to my home state of Rhode Island and frequently ate at a restaurant I worked at. The staff loved him.

I don’t think any other two actors could have pulled off playing Dale and Brennan. They were born for these roles, and it could have been real cringe with other 40 year olds trying to act like kids. They are so believable and every line they deliver is pure gold lmao!

when i first watched it, i thought they were special needtarded and couldnt function in society which is what you expect from middle aged 40 year olds. i mean, by the time i was in my 40s, i already had grandkids. these two virgins for life couldnt get laid if they paid for sex. then i watched the movie a second time, and can confirm all that i said is true.
I think it’s the perfect comedy except the standing up sex part. It’s kind of hamfisted and contrived.

I always thought that the idea was in the event of a fire he would call him 'Dad' because he feels drawn closer to him. But that doesn't make sense either, like maybe if he was saved from a fire but not in the event of a fire. It's very confusing.

I love how the neighbour’s guide dog is a pain in the arse as well. There’s not a wasted moment in this film, comedy glory.
This movie doesn’t work without Will Ferrel and John C Reily’s comedic brilliance.
I always found it funny that John C Reily is a classically trained actor and was in a ton of serious movies, then goes on to do this movie, Walk Hard, Talladega Nights, and be Dr Steve Brule & other Tim & Eric characters.
John C Reily in Boogie Nights is funny, too.
