Major plot hole I didn't realize until I watched this video just now: If Lela changes the movie, and all of reality is also changed as a result, meaning Brady and Mack never met, wouldn't that also mean that Mack would have gotten on the plane in Teen Beach 1 and gone to the prep school instead, thus making the whole final scene impossible? How has this not dawned on anyone higher up at Disney Channel? It's like whoever wrote Teen Beach 2 never watched the first Teen Beach Movie and wrote this based on a terrible Wikipedia synopsis or something. The Teen Beach franchise is a complete nonsensical lie!
That's a good point
As far as we know if reality was rewritten, her mom never dies. This means her aunt doesn't try and force her to a boarding school and she stays there the whole time.
This is not a real problem. She seems to be a little diferent from how she was, so maybe she never wanted to go to the school, like the song saya i make my own destiny", maybe she awalys wanted to do her own thing and never agreed with her aunt in the first place.
Of corse, the movie is still bad, but this is not a plot hole, at least, I don't think so
Plus I thought time didn’t move between the two different worlds but apparently not
DISNEY CHANNEL MOVIES...they don't always make sense!!
Teen Beach is one of those cases of brilliant idea, bad execution. The idea of people travelling to, and slowly becoming part of a musical universe, or the opposite... it's pretty cool

She's forced to be a "dumb girl" in a movie, finds her way to the real world, discovers she can be more than a stereotype and get independence, then she has to give it all up. She's stuck, forced to stay small, that's heartbreaking.

@@noahkirschtein8169 and how did you come to that conclusion?
Im convinced Tanner was drunk this entire movie
Man, I was about 15 when the first one came out and I loved it and I still love the soundtrack because it's the perfect amount of cheesy. I remember being so excited for the second movie to come out, my sister and I watched it on premiere night, and then I can truthfully say I've never watched it since. Then, it was because they completely negated the original with the sequel's ending, but I also thought "eh, I'm 17, maybe I'm just getting to old for these." But now this video is as close as I'll get to it because I see the plot truly made no sense from the start.
"I walked into the water, questioning my whole existence."
"And I didn't question anything."
I can't vouch for the overall quality of this movie, or the first one, but Tanner's character is a work of art. The sheer sincerity of him is something refreshing in the modern age of self-referential ironic eye-roll humor? Tanner isn't self-deprecating, or winking to camera, or sardonically mocking how stupid his own character is. He really is that enthusiastically clueless. That's it. He doesn't have an edge. He's not secretly sinister or mean or complicated. He's silly, but not a character to cut down and sarcastically scorn. He's a parody of an archetype, a character we're supposed to find exaggerated and comedic, but in a good-spirited way. He's a happy completely sincere clueless over the top doofus, and it's great.
This is an ode to the himbo character trope and I love it.
Excellent overview of why his character is enjoyable to watch.
Yeah, as much as the movie may suck, that part is pure art! :D
Reminds me of Kronk
Ah yes, pure golden retriver energy
In a different perspective:
If I was alive in the 60's an came to the 2000's and found out that I get more rights and liberties as a person, and that being more than an accessory to a dumb guy( making me have to act dumber to make him look better, because lets be honest lelia in this movie makes tanner look even dumber.) isn't as socially unacceptable, and that I could actually be my own objectively more intelligent person. I wouldn't want to go back to the 1960's either.
That’s a great point, but Ig they have no choice but to accept it since she changes the movie.
Yeah I was thinking along the same line that I would not want to go back to a sexist world after escaping it and finding a better life

So Tanner wasn't actually made dumber in this movie, they were just trying to show how his character would actually be in modern times without Lela having to act dumber to make him look better, unlike in the first movie where that happened and worked, bc it made us see Tanner as a deeper character...
I feel the same way, unfortunately if this wasn't a Disney movie she'd have no rights as she's technically not a citizen and doesn't have a single ID to her name, most likely having to live under Mack (I doubt she would like that) until she dies- actually I never understood how characters can just *go* to school so easily even though the teacher wouldn't have them on any school records of existing

I think the movie was overall fine up until the end, Lela's story was really cool until you found out at the end how the whole movie became about her and everyone else was at the background... The movie is just about one person?
Im mad too but Mack told her to do it because she wanted Lela to be happy and Lela was tired of having to do the same exact thing everyday. Am I the only one that was hoping for Teen Beach 2 the characters would meet the actors that played them, and they would sort of understanding how much it meant for those actors portraying these characters, or how much fun they had making the movie to convince them to go back??? Like, from the very first movie I thought about how cool it would have been for Leila and Tanner's actors, now in their seventies, talking to the movie world characters and helping them understand that they are fictional characters. They could have brought back Mack's grandfather and compare the time periods even better.
They had so much potential and they blew it!
OMG this storyline would've been SO GENIUS!
This sounds like a better plot than the whole gosh-darn movie. You, my friend, deserve an award.
that goes against the point of layla wanting to be independent and eventually changing the movie
@@Joela393 I did actually think about that after posting the comment. I thought about the differences between the time periods and how Leila's actress (and Mack) could motivate her into changing the story and make it her own, showing her that she can be independent despite what society at the time had pushed on her. It's been a long time since I sat down and watched the movie, but I that plot came up in my head from time to time.

Here’s the thing: Mac only stayed on the coast in the first movie because she wanted to be with Brady for the rest of high school. This movie changes their past, which means she would have left the coast before ever meeting/dating Brady. This plot hole has bothered me ever since I watched this movie.
But if she left doesn’t that mean they never went into the movie in the first place?
Edit: when I a typed this I hadn’t finished the video nvm, I THINK I understand
Mac in the new timeline has a much stronger connection to this alternate movie about female empowerment and surfing, maybe she stayed for surfing?
9 year old me was so confused
Old Mack had to learn the lesson of following your heart. Old Mack then taught that lesson to Lela, who then taught it to new Mack through Lela: Queen of the Beach. New Mack already follows her heart and knew from the start not to go to fancy boarding school-at least in my opinion. It's possible that this is another reason why Mack and Brady didn't meet surfing on the same beach (even if Brady wasn't into the musical, if they were really inevitable there's a good chance they would have and should have met), that because she decided not to go to the fancy boarding school that she made a compromise with her aunt to do a summer course or something. Regardless, I think that makes sense to me.

This kinda doesn't matter, look at Danielle Radcliffe and Rupert Grint's acting career. Even Emma Watson. Once they were way bigger than Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stweart, and look where they are now. Danielle Radcliffe does have a movie called Antlers coming out in October I believe (originally scheduled for April 2020), but he certainly doesn't have anything as big as The Batman. And Emma Watson's last breakout role was as Belle and honest Emily Browning would've worked just as well, or a number of other actresses, although I guess the appeal of Hermione Granger as a Disney Princess was intriguing. They met BECAUSE of the movie, because it was his favorite movie, and he was watching when tehy met (is literally explaind in the firs scene, just go back and see).
If the movie didn' existed, they could never met each other.
Unfortunally, in the end, Lela do change the movie, makin so It wasn't his favorite movie anymore, so they never met in the way they should. Instead, It became her favorite movie
@@gisela_oliveira Brady says in the beginning they met while watching it, then tells Lela and Tanner they met in the movie world, which is where the confusion came from. Now that I'm seeing where he said they met while he was watching I can see how they would forget each other. However, I still want to argue it makes no sense because they're always on the same beach due to their shared love of surfing, so they definitely could have easily met that way. Which of course does defeats the whole purpose, but I hate the ending so that's what I use to justify it lol
@@shortylove876 the ending is bad, indeed and I see your point abou they meeting in the beach anyway, but we need to give them this: they don't if they only met because of the movie, so make sense they were scared of the consequences. In the end, is a big beach, they are not from the same social circle and is said they never met on school before they met on summer, so is not impossible to them never met.
In the end, this movie is bad for the characters and all, but it is well written and does not have so many holes as we wanted to have.

I think it is gen z boys thing.. Alex Meyers is a millennial boy, an introverted one when he was that age so understandably he cringes
Misanthropic mink sent me…
"Do you think things will be diffrent?"
Yall literally live together..
I actually adore the first movie -- it's dumb and campy in all the best ways. Then the second one crapped all over it, which makes me really sad inside.
exactly! i pretend the second one doesn’t exist due to my love for the first movie
me too
"Disney channel movies! Why do I do this to myself?" Alex can not get better than this! 🤣
There's going to be a gender flipped remake of "She's All That" on Netflix called "He's All That." I thought you should do a review of that one sometimes since it seems quite up your ally. lol.
Plus I just learned that Disney Channel is remaking Under Wraps for some reason in case you'd like to review both the original movie and the upcoming remake!
I remember watching these movies when I was younger… I’m astonished at the fact that I thought this was just normal
Me tooooo
I'm impressed in "Gotta Be Me" the girls can dance very well in heals
Chibnal and Masuda are both
Franchise-Killer,
but 1 gets more Criticism than the other.

Ok this movie may be bad, but you can't deny that "On My Own" still SLAPS after all these years!
Fr it really does
Almost every song slaps.
love the pfp
@@shriya9925 Thank you Luz The Human!
It's not a bad movie at all. Well, maybe the stuff in the middle isn't spectacular but the beginning and ending are jaw-dropping amazing, so there's that.
I don't know if anyone corrected him yet but Mac and her boyfriend met while he was watching the movie, they first interacted because of it. Without that interaction, they wouldn't have met, thus they wouldn't be together
There first interaction was them on the beach holding hands and surfing after that Mac walked in on Brady and the grandpa watching the movie
@@fsyahtzee5538 By that time they were already dating. When she walks on Brady and her grandpa she says something along the lines of " I don't know why you like this movie so much" meaning they have watched it before and at the begining of the second movie they say they met while Brady was watching the movie and she asked him what movie it was SO canonically they met because of the movie and it's been around since then
@@fsyahtzee5538 The first interaction in the first movie, yes. But in this movie they said that they met because Brady was playing the movie on his tablet. Alex even left it in the video: 1:35 They didn't meet IN the movie, but they met BECAUSE of the movie
@@fsyahtzee5538 In the first scene we see them in, but they met before that as explained in the movie if you even actually watched it, read the two comments before me to see how they meet before that

Aside from the weird time paradox that eliminates the first movie, they also seem to forget that her grandfather loved the movie too. He also OWNED the surf shop where Brady hung out, so I think his interest in designing and building surfboards might have come up at some point.
Why not google the actress that played leyla and find her to prove she does have a fkn life in the real world?! It’s a live action movie right?! Lol starting to question shit myself.
wait that would have been interesting!! they head to hollywood for TBM2
Leyla didn't really have to change the movie because she was just a character with an actress. I would have liked if they did that instead.
I didn’t know this plot hole of a movie existed till yesterday so I still can’t get passed the fact they “met” in that world when NO you didn’t lol.
@@dany9276 it’s crazy they never acknowledge that aspect! Essentially she’s a magic clone lol. They could’ve done soooo much more with this and make it make sense had they given like 20% more effort. I’m sure this comment section could create a better movie than this lol.
@@dany9276 exactly… and that’s not even including the fact that what they’d tried to prevent (the entire reason for this movie) happened regardless! So what do we take away from that? Like u can’t change fate lol idk… I think I’m trying too hard to put a message in this crap
