I played just one happily for many years, but then I made the mistake of adding a different kind (Torres) of guitar. I now find the Torres better suited to some pieces or even just my mood that day. Unfortunately, as a result I now have GAS (guitar acquisition syndrome), and will likely always be looking for something new and exciting.

If the maestro Barrueco sais you need just one, then you need just one. But I think what is implied is that it needs to be a really good instrument. Might be one of the reasons people end up with more than one instrument: as they develop they better understand what a good instrument is and accordingly buy the next to accommodate that.

Well, Cuarto, uh.....I think I am up to ....approximately 42 guitars now, including bass guitars....uhhh.. .OH ...but I only have one nylon-stringed classical. Manuel Contreras something.
How many guitars do we need? All of them. Lol. Seriously i need about 10. 4 acoustic, 5 electric and a bass. Something like that. Classical, 12 string, dreadnaught, backup live acoustic, strat, les paul, backup les paul, tele, so many guitars that all have different sounds and uses. If i had to choose one, my martin d-18 ive had since 1994.
