I just cut my locs off and GIRL! I whipped my head around and it damn near flew off my head cuz it was so light! My scalp itching stopped after I cut them off too. My first proper wash on my hair was orgasmic I wish I could have been washing it forever! My mom usually washes my hair, but there was so much buildup in my hair it was so great to get it all out. Felt like heaven 😣 I don’t think I’ll ever get dreadlocks any time soon, I really needed this change! 💕

You can wash your hair when its locked. And ACV and baking soda washes clean all the build up. Some people put products on their locs and really this is not good at all because of buildup. If a person has scalp issues then maybe something on the scalp (tea tree oil) but ACV and baking soda will do great.

I got them when I was 9 because i always liked to copy my mom( sje has locs) but now that im 14, turning 15 I'm finding my own style and I want my hair loose natural tho. Adeyemi Beatrice I used a thumb tac and a comb. I picked at the ends to open them up then started using scissors to make it easier and continued to pick each loc and used the comb when it was needed to get some the shed hair out the way. after I was done with one loc, I would twist it up. I did this in sections until the twist would be a medium size. I didn't use water and conditioner. I did it get because I wanted to keep the length I had after unlocking my hair

So what would be your advice to people starting out on there loc journey not to go as thick to go with smaller locs?

I took my 1st set of locs out in 2013. I was them in the evening and I sleep on just about 2 bottle of conditioner. Then I woke up and reconditioned it as I took them down. It took me 18 1/2 hours to take down. Now I will not think about taking mines down now.

How long did it take you to comb them out? I started to comb out mine but got discouraged maybe I will try again it took me 30 to an hour a loc. It definitely is a process!

Thank you for this video!!!!! I'm going to comb out my locs after 7 yrs. My hair is soo heavy and yes thinning from the weight as well. I haven't palm rolled the mature portion of my locs in at least 6 yrs and they keep condensing in circumference. I rarely do styles in my hair. I'm sure at this point I have a lot less hair its just all caught up in the loc. They look great but I know that its a lot thinner. I'm so scared to see how much length I will lose. You give me hope. I have never dealt with my loose hair at a longer length and I'm so anxious. I don't know what moisturizing routing to implement once all this gets loose ahhhhhhh

I combed out my locs a while ago also. I think my hair and scalp prefers loose natural. My hair was thinning and now it has filled in where it was thinning. I will never get locs again. I need to wash my hair weekly and periodically it needs heat, like flat ironing or blow drying. My scalp and hair need to be combed to maintain health. I felt so free after combing them out!

yourfavnurseb i was told to not wash my hair and it was itchy and i began to get scabs from scratching it. Now i don’t have that problem at all. I can use any product without worrying about build up. Now i don’t get scabs or have lots of dryness and deal with itchiness as a result of the locs on my skin.

This is why I'm hesitant about locs, I feel like one day I'll end up cutting them off or something. I definitely cannot deal with combing them all out, sounds grueling. Plus I don't see the point of hanging on to shed hair.

Hello #Natural Nirvana, I ran across your CZcams video last night and was not able to watch it , but this morning I was able to watch your video, and your hair is absolutely beautiful. You definitely had a lot of hair in the “Target bag,” and you said you had two bags of hair. Thanks for sharing. Besides hair conditioner and water did you use anything else? I am currently taking my locs out, and I am currently on one loc for the last three days. My hair is long, I am thinking it will most likely take me months to complete my “comb out loc journey .” Is there any advice that you and anyone who reads this comment may kindly add to the table to assist me on my “ locs” toothpick, tail comb, fingers to detangle my locs out journey.” Besides cutting, chopping by beautiful hair.
    Peace to everyone 🔹

Kelilah** ThePoet Oh no! I’m so sorry that you cut your thumb. You have to be very careful, because you can accidentally stab your finger if you are going too fast. What helped me was combing them out in a downward direction (avoiding making contact with my fingers).

What all did you use to apply to the locs as you were combing them out? Just conditioner and water? And if it was just conditioner and water could you tell me which conditioner did you use? And did you wash your locs before combing them out?
