Excellent review. Can't wait to listen to the new album. It's been a long wait.
Thanks for your support! 👍 They spent a while on the recording, so I have a feeling it may be something special.
Also can't wait to hear the new album. Also features his kids.
And David Gilmour playing a Gibson Les Paul 😱
A gorgeous gold top no less 😎
@@jimhitchcock5837 AND, a Bigsby tremelo...don't see THAT on a Les Paul every day ,either...lol
In general, I haven't been fully satisfied with Gilmour's music since the Division Bell. I suppose I'm a diehard fan of his Floyd days and his first two solo albums. It doesn't mean this and other music he's made since then aren't good, just that it doesn't reach the level of excellence since then, in my opinion. It's definitely polished and well arranged. As far as this song is concerned, I'd give it a 7 out of 10, and I'm looking forward to the new solo album.
Pedestrian, predictable, formulaic. I can't avoid comparisons as a vast chasm separates this from Floyd's work. Clearly missing the unnerving edge and pulsating bass of Waters, the hypnotic atmospherics of Wright combined with Mason's percussive mood, and the whole experience of anticipating the change you knew was coming but reliving it never failed to deliver the same awe and wonder. As a technical musician Gilmour is a master but his compositions don't leave a mark on my soul.
Agreed, but better than anything on that Island CD from a few years ago. At least this contains a spark of past Floyd.
From the title I expected some pipes to feature... but I guess Gilmour doesn't play them and didn't want to temporarily give up the spotlight.
You do realise that quite often that bass you so love was played by Gilmour.
