  • another tool haul from the apprentice and I. lots of Ko-Ken in this one. i’m a really big fan of Ko-Ken’s quality and selection of sockets, drive tools, and screwdrivers. I also got some Matco and Snap-on thrown in there with a bonus look at my organization in some drawers. 🔧🤘🏻

    I turned 50 a few months ago and I’ve collected my share of snap on tools over the years..I’ll tell you this. It’s your money, buy what you want, don’t listen to the haters. One thing I’ve learned is everyone WILL have an opinion. Snap on makes great hand tools, but so do other companies too..and if they offer a hassle-free lifetime warranty, even better. Very cool of you guys to buy the birthday tool, that’s what it’s all about..keep your coworkers in future videos, without buddies life at work can get dull real quick.

    • @TxToolGuy
      @TxToolGuy  Před rokem +1

      i agree. it’s very nice to have coworkers who get along and help me with the videos, it makes work more enjoyable.
      i also think snap-on is worth it, a lot of haters out there who think their HF stuff is just as good. more power to them, it’s their opinion. but there’s a reason HF always compares themself to snap-on… imitation is the best form of flattery. 🤷🏻

    On the Milwaukee being made in china. ALL of Matco’s tools are rebranded from Astro and a bunch of other companies off Amazon and store bought. As that being said not dogging on quality. They have quality stuff but that quality stuff is the exact same as the other companies it comes from. Matco doesn’t make a single tool. Only makes boxes.

    Lots of 1 11/16" 12pt out there, even old Craftsman ones. Should be compatible to a 43mm, only 5 thou tighter. The larger sizes are less common to find in metric than sae, as industrial, worldwide, still uses sae sizing.

    Question from someone who knows nothing about your profession. Does your employer pay for any of these tools or is this all out of pocket? Do they have tools to use if you didn't have your own stuff?

    • @TxToolGuy
      @TxToolGuy  Před rokem

      great question! it’s all out of pocket. some states have tool allowances, however texas it’s not required and most, not all, but most require you to furnish your own tools, box, etc.
      now if you’re at a dealership they usually supply the scan tools, special service tools, hybrid stuff (in my case i was at toyota), etc
      if you don’t have your own stuff you’re kind of SOL unless you have a nice team leader/foreman. what i would do is let the apprentices use my spare tools until they could afford to get their own
