So these were the things we learned about our city just recently! We're really curious if you knew these or if we managed to surprise you as well, let us know in the comments! 🙂
Hows that comment from 2 days ago :D
@@MRLBRMNN same question....
same

You are a really good guide a d I would love to meet you in real life . Love you and love what you are doing.!!
I like how he just casually says stuff along the lines of "I talked with the city council and they'll change the ordinance by may" and "I went on a walk with the mayor of Prague"
😂
in many not so big countries, people like the president or a mayor are really just ordinary people, not some piece of shit big ego billionaires with 200 bodyguards like in the us.
Also he didn't say "i talked with the city council and they'll change the ordinance by may". He didn't even say anything close to that.
@@tuurehu3392 He said that he "talked to the council, and they COULD change it, but the soonest it could be changed was in May."
That is pretty fucking close.
Regarding the carpark, here in Dublin University College Dublin had a running track which was turned into a car park and was like that for about ten years. But two years ago a rich person passed away and in there will donated €2 million to have the running track reinstated in which they are rebuilding at the moment. Maybe you might get a rich patron to do the same for the carpark for your oval
That will not happen here, car users are very aggresive when you want to remove some parking lot, they will be very angry.
@@Pidalin The person who left the €2 million to the University stated in their will if the running track was not reinstated they weren't going to get a single cent of the money.
It would be great, when they would do that. Though, it would be funny, when they would demolish the carpark to build landing pads für helicopters or a smal private airfield. ^^
That rich guy must have some good memories on that running track. Maybe he won a competition on it, meet his first love there or live nearby that he just want to restore the look from his memory.
Man I wish I can have a best friend like Janek. So much positive vibes from this man.
I would prefer Roman chariot races instead of a parking lot.
If you ever watch traffic its almost like a charroit race😉. Nascar here in the states is really close to them. They still make a left hand turn and the majority drink beer instead of wine😆
Or jousting arena!
Let’s be practical
you heard him!! 1st of May we meet there! bring a slide/slide!!
I love how enthusiastic Janek is about learning these new little facts about his city. His enthusiasm and love for Prague is so contagious.
For the Oval, I would put a Trdelnik stand, Prague Ham stand, Exchange Booth(preferable establishment run by Jan Dočekal for the stellar service), Thai Massage parlor & complete it with a Taxi stand. During the weekends I'd bring in the Spinning Bar challenge along with people canvassing for charity organizations(like for Deaf-Mutes & we musn't forget Buddhist monks). Ambulatory exchanges(i.e. humans) for Belarussian rubles(expired) are only allowed during the evenings for when the Exchange Booth closes.
Hilarious! Well done.
Janek: *sweating nervously*

HAHHAH the perfect place to find the worst things about Prague altogether in one place
Interesting video! Other videos that would be interesting would trace the history of the universities in Prague. For example, the very first ČVUT classes were held by the first professor in his private residence in the Saxon House next to Charles bridge (you've walked past it thousands of times too!). The students lived in dormitories on the other side of the bridge and complained about how long it took them to walk across Charles Bridge to go to class ... so they moved, books and all, to another house in Old Town. Can you imagine what these first students would have thought about crossing Charles Bridge during the height of tourist season in Prague? :) I bet the other universities in Prague have similarly colorful origins and history.
As I can tell you, crossing Charles Bridge in a rather "merry mood" or hangover seems waaaaay longer than sober and fully awake. ;)
I would prefer an exchange place with 100% commission on that place where is the parking lot.
beat me to it lol should put all the exchanges there facing each other
Why people dislike parking so much. Car is a very comfortable type of transportation
After finding your channel I was finally able to visit Prague during Christmas of 2019. Hopefully I’ll be able to go back again once everything settles down.
5:50 and now we (viewers which are watching this channel for a long time) are going to look on every video just to see how many times you have walked past the wine column. you're welcome.
:D
We would love to see some other Czech cities and villages too, other than those you have already made. Great work, by the way.
It’s literally 6 more days for me to move to Prague. I’m so excited yet nervous at the same time. Thank you so much Honest Guides duo for making all the fun yet educating videos on Prague ❤️
two days from now on Tuesday there will be 17 degrees in Prague. going to be a sunny day 🌞 take us to another trip pleaseee!!
How you have less than 1million subs man. You deserve at least 100million❤
I'm honestly just so happy I found this channel. Before covid, Prague was literally the next place we were supposed to go to. I'm Asian so European cities amaze me to high heavens and since we can't go there right now, I'm just living vicariously through your videos.
This guy is so chill. Glad i found this channel. keep up the good work, man! :D
Always love your videos! We learn a lot from it! Lots of love from canada!
The work you are doing for Prague is incredible.
I only fear that people would harm you. The people who only care about money like politicians, police, mafia
...
You should be mayor of this town. You look passionate.
From a French fan. Thank you.
Prague facts:--> Podoli swimming pool (heated 50m indoor and 33m outdoor, plus 50m outdoor unheated lanes) and Czech TV studios share heating/ cooling via water pipes going (way) up the river embankment!
wooow!
I´ve been to Praha so many times. Thank you for giving me new information!
Really interesting , love how much you love your city and how passionately you share it
I like it when someone shows how they care for their beloved city
You bring such joy to Prague. This is one place I'd love to visit. Thank you for sharing these amazing stories. As always, stay safe out there!
Love this! Such interesting information. And I love the background music to match your vibe. 😎
4:04 What is behind the other door? The arched door with the round window (?) looks much more interesting.
I guess exit on other side of bridge :-)
@@Pidalin Do you like trdelník?
@@behehsvdiiw73 I don't know, I never tried it, I have no idea how it tastes like. I am native Czech so I am not going to tourist stands and don't buying that overpriced shits so I almost don't know what is trdelník, it started here maybe 10 years ago, I never saw it before.
@@Pidalin You are right, first i saw and ate it in some camp site at the south of Slovakia as a child (maybe 20 years ago). Could have something to do with its origin in Hungary :-D.
Love this episode especially
Loving your city! 😊 can’t wait to visit them in person soon 😊
Stupid waste of money there is many better city in Europe like Vienna, Berlin, Paris. Believe me I was born and I live in Prague
Yeah, David is right. If you want to see Czech Republic, Prague is like one day trip and thats all. Try to find more czech cities and towns. I suggest you Znojmo in summer (I live there) less than hour from Vienna (cause Vienna is nice to see too).
@@David-kn4hb EU federalist from Czechia? Holy smokes, I thought I was the only one!

Really enjoying all this REAL and interesting information about Prague 👏🏼😄
hopefully get to visit the beautiful city of Prague this year. Looking forward to it.
Love this video! I'm a fan of your channel and Prague, and an even bigger fan of rare trivia.
i'm not planning on going to Prague anytime i know. I'm just watching these videos cus i love your personality
I love learning new things about my city, too! (Ldn). Really like the sound of that word, 'nezname'
really enjoyed this, thanks
It's always nice to watch your videos. I miss Praha so much!!
Great video boys.....love the quib about taking longer to walk the bridge :)
2:05 "parking forbidden" sign is turned to the stairs, where no car movement is expected :)
Winter is so pretty there!!!
I’m planning to moving to the city
ok
Don’t .Prague is one of the most expensive cities in Europe . It’s not worth it . I suggest Spain 🇪🇸 like Barcelona or Andalusia like Malaga or Sevilla . Spain is also reasonable cheap compared to other European countries . Spain is more beautiful than Prague
Nothing beats the mix of Arabic architecture and western in south of Spain . That is beautiful . Muslims ruled the Iberian peninsula for hundred of years until the reconguista
The reconguest of Spain so many old buildings have Arabic influences .
A beer in a local bar in Spain is like not even 1 euro . In Prague you pay almost 3 euros for one beer
@@Paralyzer I absolutely love Spain and as a Portuguese I've visited basically everywhere. I do agree it is a lovely country with some amazing places. But I do have to disagree. There's no city, in my opinion, nearly as beautiful as Prague in Spain. Barcelona, Madrid or the Andalusian cities are great but still no match for Prague. Lovely country though!
@@domingosvarelamarreiros7490 Prague is a beautiful city I agree but to expensive if you’re on a budget . And gracias Mi hermano 😉 te amo Portugal 🇵🇹
@@Paralyzer It's not that expensive on the outskirts. Prague 8 is great 15 minutes travel time to the center of Prague and it's cheap.
Brilliant video!!!
Mate i follow you a long time already. You rock! I am wondering why you aint got a mill subs so far. The best content in YT. I am Estonian, i lived in Prague. Miluji váš kanál! Vaše video o Tallinnu bylo upřímné jako všechny ostatní. Držte krok. Opravdu vám přeji milion předplatitelů. Its my first comment on YT, but you deserve it. Cheers to you and Honzik.
Amazing stuff. I live in Prague one and none of these things were known to me. Thanks !
Man, I love Prague, can't wait to visit again
Just watching all your videos at 3 am feeling good
Definitely running track 😊
Love the facts! 😊
Thank you so much for all of these vids I’m a quarter Czech but I know nothing about ot
Watching you guys from Belfast hopefully we can get to Prague in October 🤞 keep up the good work...
I once bought a book about the old house signs of Prague and - if you not already did an episode about them - this could be interesting for your viewers too!
I've always wanted to know where in the world you guys would love to travel to. I've been to Prague on holiday and loved it.
I might never get to Prague but I know so much thanks to you :)
These vids are great. I like the topic transition/subscribe reminder
Hi do a geocaching video in Prague, some great hides 👍
Build a running track above the parking lot, and in the middle of the track you could put solar panels. People could exercise, the energy generated could be used for lights, and the cars would be protected from weather.
It will be expensive but when the restrictions are over I will come to visit Prague ♥️

Could you make special about czech novelist, who lived in Prag and maybe kind of their inspiration?
Thanx to you I know Praha beter than Moskow, where I used to live for 30 years! But it is also intresting to learn something aboat other cities of Czeh Republic!
When you say "Sokol movement" I don't think your audience knows what you are talking about unless you already explained in some episode that I missed.
Hi Honza and Janek. Your videos are great. Can you do one telling the story of the merger of Reinhard Heydrich during WW2? Show us where it happened and the church where the perpetrators were drowned.
I really miss the winter and really wanna see every part of Prague, Cheers from Thailand
Great video. I actually wrote a short story about Husaks quiet in my last short story collection 🙂
Same like you...I don’t think that we need any more parking places! Anywhere!
Subscribed! 👍
Thanks! What camera and lens you are using?
How about suspend the ordnance with immediate effect before changing it in May. Did St Vaclav like to drink vine ? How old is the column ? About the oval would be better if it was for sporting activity but you need to build garages under the surface or somewhere out of the way. That huge gate that covers that little room under the bridge makes one think that something very secret is going on in there.
the column was moved to the right place, since you have never bumbed into it!
Could you do a myths and legends serie? That would be awesome, there are so many great stories and legends, such as the alchemists, Golem, the knights that were executed on Old Town Square, the tunnels beneath the centre, and so on...
The knights executed on Old Town Square are not a legend, they're hard fact history...
@@beth12svist agreed, but their ghosts still visiting the square frequently isn't (far as I know)
Janek, you are so funny and cool and honest. :)
You guys make very nice videos
Just build an underground garage. Space for cars, space for a running track = everybody wins!
I love your Czech word of the day! I'd absolutely love a vlog in Czech with Czech and English subtitles. I bet I'm not the only one. 😊
Keep teaching us more about your beautiful culture! 👍
Um... you know... Prague was build on... Prague. Seriously, in center, you can't dig a hole without founding an historical building or something :) Every europians city has this problem. :)
Praha is very nice looking city. Hopefully, on my next visit to Europe it will be in the bucket list of cities to visit along with Dresden Germany as they are not far from each other.
Thank you.
Hi guys I really love your city and your videos. Great job. I been to Prague 3 times and I think is the most beautiful place in the world!.
By any chance do you private or group tours?
Be safe and take good care of yourselves.
Huh, had no idea about the wine column, walked by it half a dozen times last week 🤣
🇵🇸Hey, my friend. I wish you good luck and lasting success. Coach Mohana is your friend
I am not sure if you are officially prague brand ambassador but you sound like one with that passion...
The Praque city counsel can change the rules for a short time if they want to!! Free snowsledge on the hills of Praque!!
Its "Prague" not Praque
There was a game that came out in 2000 called Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption, which started you off in Prague, and they have some good history in it... it was the only place I ever saw anyone mention the name of the bridge that was there before Charles Bridge. From that game is how I was first introduced to Prague... and eventually moved there for a while. I miss it so!
NO! They don't! Trust me, I'm the Jedi... ehem, I mean, I played it. Many times. It's fun and some sentenses from it I use till now, but... look. I'm from Prague. I'm, as the saying goes, babtized by the Vltava River. I'm nor historican neither another expert, but it's my hometown, My Preciouss! :D
And I know it's wrong. Everything.
Except vampires. There are vampires in Prague, of course. :)
(Sorry for every mistake. My english is bad.)
Very nice. Husak's quiet doesn't seem to be just a rumor, because the tunnel really doesn't have any meaningful purpose other than silence, and unobstructed access to the waterfront from the building.
Will certainly stop by the Wine Column and stand on the oldest cobblestones next time im there :)
Sure!!! TRUE
its may 3rd i hope u have enjoyed the snow boarding now.
Hi guys, I'm enjoying your videos (the ones still on CZcams) I have ordered your guide book, partly because I miss Prague and Plzeň but mainly because you guys are great ambassadors for the Czech Republic and I want to know all the good stuff. Can I please ask about the background/history of the red street signs? And also can you recommend any good Metal pubs as in Death Metal, Black Metal? Thanks from Ireland
Funny you call it sledging, and here is the US and Canada we call it sledding. Thanks again for the great info.
"Sledging" is just the British English word for "sledding" - it's not just a Czech thing. :)
@@yomintyfresh I had to look it up, and it seems sledding involves a sled, and sledging is using anything flat.
@@pepperpepperpepper Out of curiosity, what dictionary did you use? Because I'm an American EFL professor who grew up along the Canadian border and who normally spends two or three weeks a year in the UK and RoI, have never heard that explanation to describe the difference, and couldn't find anything in Google that supports that explanation. Wikipedia and all three of the bestselling learner's dictionaries simply point out that sledging is the same thing as sledding in US English. There is something with a flat surface for industrial use that's called a sledge, but it's not a toy.
I miss Prague!
2:35 Today I learned that Polish Gymnastic Society "Sokół" is an offshoot of Czech "Sokol" Movement
Už jsem to viděl v češtině, ale stejně se na to podívám i tady :D
