EPMD "You got's to chill" all time classic.!!!
PRSPR this joint is fire sample of the hook is One nation under a groove-Funkadelic! One of the greatest duos in Hip-Hop history! You taking me back!
One of my favorites. They were in that very next wave of MCs using more complex rhyme schemes. That's why the reference to sounding like The R. People said they were trying to sound like Rakim.
Even with using more complex schemes, to me, they never really sounded anything like Rakim. It's one thing that I really don't like about a lot of today's music. They don't care if they sound just like everything else out. Back then, you never wanted to be told you sound like somebody else.
Another one my man. Keep doing what you do. ✌🏾
That’s really dope, I didn’t catch that line but it makes sense now that you pointed it out.
I didn’t see the similarities in them sounding the same too but this is the only song I heard from them. I agree with you on that take, the lack of creativity in the game nowadays makes the music unlistenable since everyone sounds the same rapping over the same production.
Thank you fam, I appreciate all the support you show my channel 💯💪🏾💪🏾
@@PRSPR deffo react to Da joint by them and You gots to chill, my favourite ones along side this deffo top 10 for me and a lot of people still interested in this type of music nowadays
This was my favorite group from ‘87-‘92 and their 2nd DJ….DJ Scratch is the GOAT DJ.
Can’t forget about Scratch! Facts!
Bro NO CAPS.. you should do a full reaction of their full album ... eric and perish makin dollas ... EPMD .
A little backstory @PRSPR the section at 8:35 "People round town talking this and that, of how we sound like the R and our music was wack". The line about sounding like the R was about sounding like Rakim. EPMD and Rakim were all from Long Island NY and had a little battle / rivalry for a short time.
Thank you for providing that backstory fam, that’s very interesting people thought they sounded like Rakim
EPMD- Erik Parrish Making Dollars. Their first 12" It's My Thing and Your Customer they were EEPMD. Sleeping Bag Recorders
EPMD is crazy good!
Excellent review 👏🏿 It's been mentioned a few times in the comments but I'll say it again. Treat yourself to that "you gots to chill" video! 🎤🔥🔥
Thank you fam, it means a lot to me that y’all rock with the reaction video! Will do fam, that will be my next EPMD reaction 💯💪🏾🙏🏾
Finally some Erick and Parish. Great reaction youngster! They're the reason along with Public Enemy that I fell in love with real Hip-Hop. EPMD is laid back headbanger music. They also introduced us Reggie Noble aka Redman, Keith Murray, Das EFX and K-Solo. #Legends
That’s my bad for taking so long to react to them. Thank you very much!
Best hip hop duo of all time.
Parrish an underrated MC his delivery and cadence is elite level.
This joint is easily top 5 in their discog. Production wise it may be the best.
Pin guru's comment!
I swear. DJ Scratch is so phuckin ill.
Go in Sire! I appreciate your appreciation! EPMD is everything!
Top 10 greatest Hip-Hop song of All-Time… BAR NONE! 🔥
I'm buggin out on how many of us feel exactly the same!💯💥💯💥. We knew Hip Hop would change the world for the better. We also knew what and who we were up against. The same battle still persists. 30+ years after those songs resonated deeply with us, you are experiencing it all over. And we get that feeling back too, by watching you go through it. This is genuine enlightenment. Coming from a music genre that was disregarded, ridiculed and considered a fad. You are seeing for yourself how special and important the culture is. The culture found you...and you found it.
Now you can see the real.
"The light stays on."
Everything you said is very true, it's really crazy when you think about it that way. Much love and respect fam, I appreciate the support very much
I love how you go through all the lyrics .alot of them are 80s rap lingo you wouldn't understand but you dont talk crap about it. Respect
The essential EPMD track is gonna be "You Gots To Chill". Legendary beat and dope rhymes. Some old school hardcore.
Facts 🔥🔥
Good Reaction Homie, EPMD are Legends! ERICK SERMON Legendary producer as well
Thank you fam! 💯 I’ve reacted to a few tracks that he’s produced, you’re hundred percent right about his production being top tier tho
@@PRSPR Reaction to EPMD "CROSSOVER" my fav track by em
@@PRSPR Reaction to EPMD 'Crossover" my fav track by em
I think the men in the video are wearing monk like robes because the slowed sample on the hook (Parliament Funcadelic - One Nation Under A Groove) kind of sounds like they'd be dressed like that just from the vocal style of the hook.
my interpretation of the guys in robes is that they are ''monks'' and monks chant and thats the connection to the sample of the singing in the background of the track ..... even though the singing is a sample from parlament
DJ Scratch!🙌🏾
1st album "Strictly Business " will never leave the Playlist. 3rd group signed by Def Jam. Without EPMD, might not be a Redman, K-Solo, Keith Murray, Das Efx, etc...Legendary ish
EPMD - You Gots To Chill
You keep getting better and better at reacting
That really means a lot fam, thank you very much! 💯🙏🏾
The Next best duel rap group after Run Dmc was DJ Scratch And Epmd, And they been dope since Strictly Buisness back in ''1987''🎶😎
Erick and Parrish Making Dollars is a top 10 group ever. You need to do knick knack patty wack featuring K Solo or get the bozack the best songs in the album your first reaction came from.

Yes strickly buisness was a classic album great reaction EPMD is one of the ten greatest rap groups in hip hop history and this was a dope single off there follow up album
Some of the best artist have come from long Island EPMD, public enemy, rakim and the late great biz markie
Thank you fam! That’s very dope how many greats came from Long Island, that list is filled with Legends
They had a dope stage show too...
Cool video reaction.epmd is a amazing duo group. Legend of the rap game.do epmd the headbanger.word up son
Thank you, will do fam! 💯
Young King 👑✊🏽 I like the way you analyzed and dissected this reaction! EPMD was one of my fav Hip-Hop duo groups in the late 80's!DJ Scratch was a beast on the ones and twos 🔥 The way they attacked the mic and their style was unmatched. Checkout..." You're A Customer" and "The Big Payback"🎶 Keep up the great work my brother 💯
That really means a lot, thank you very much my brother! 💯🙏🏾 I will be sure to add those tracks to my list, I appreciate the positivity in your comment and the requests. Definitely will keep up the work, thank you again 💪🏾💪🏾
EPMD = Erick n Parrish Making Dollars ) and (Parish Microphone Doctor) Erick is E Double or The Green Eyed Bandit ..
So dope to see a young man breaking down the classics!
This song came out in 1989. You should kneel to the King on the microphone is what he means
Official release is 1988...There is a 7-inch vinyl that came out in 1988 it was a Limited Edition Pressing Sold at DJ Shows. Only 250 pressed.
"...No respect in '87... '88 ya kneel..." Like other comments already said, in 1987 they took some undeserved criticism, but in the new year (1988) all haters 'gon bow down.
Thank you for breaking down that line fam, that makes sense
@@PRSPR Happy to be a part of your journey. You're killin' the game right now with your lyric breakdown and obvious respect for the culture. Anytime you got a question, just let us know. We got u!
Strictly Business
You Gots To Chill
Symphony 2000
Do The headbanger featuring Red man and K-solo!
The hip hop world was DEVASTATED, when EPMD announced a Break-Up! Crushing news at the time. Long live Erich and Parrish Making Dollars 💸 💵
The lisp Erick had in is raps actually allowed him to stand out. With the NY slang cadence he really stood out. Parish's rhyme scheme were at the time groundbreaking.
EPMD - Erick and Parish Making Dollars
Lyricist Lounge- Keep Pouring
My fav song of EPMD ❤️ Lovely hardcore beat and dope delivery. For me the 2nd is "Head Banger". Great song featuring Redman who also killed his verse so I highly recommend it to you ;)
2:00 jerked in that context means screwed or messed over or played
Beanie Sigel & Memphis Bleek did a pretty decent cover of this track on Beanie 2nd album, “The Reason”
U reaching in your bag bro...this how you do a hip- hop reaction...you embody the whole essence of doing a hip-hop reaction...take me back to when I was 11 or 12 years old...I'm 45 now...good reaction...D-12 featuring Eminem "How come"
Thank you fam! Should I react to the video or just the audio?
3:54 the MC field is basically the rap game
I appreciate you breaking down lines and lingo I didn’t get 💯
Great reaction as always dude. I'm not really familiar with EPMD's catalogue but I do love me some Erick Sermon...bro you gotta do his song Clutch feat Method Man & Redman...🔥🔥 track...I know you gonna love that one.🙏
Erick & Parrish Making Dollars.
Strong island all day!
The line 'No respect in 87, 88 you kneel' was because when they dropped the first album, a lot of critics back then thought they were gonna be One hit wonders. But when this one dropped, it was a banger. So they had to give it up.
So many lines went right over his head. 😂. It was hilarious. But he's trying and I appreciate that.
The knock against EPMD on their first album was that they were just replicating Rakim's laid back delivery and cadence. That's where that "..that we sound like The R and our music was wack" line comes from.
React to EPMD "Da Joint" when they returned
👍👍👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
If you like them you're going to love Das EFX
The video represents the underground
EPMD Derrick,Parrish Making Dollars
Foul ups, Bleeps, Bloops and Blunders was a TV show that aired people making mistakes on camera. I think it was out before America's Funniest Home Videos made home videos popular.
Friendly fire. Rappers pushed each other lyrically then. Them, Run DMC, Melle Mel, Rakim, they all took subliminal shots at each other
That’s very interesting, nothing wrong with friendly competition I guess
Top 10 hip hop beat of all time and if you do not understand you have a lot of learning to do
One Be Lo- Used to be fly
My bad, check out Slow down baby EPMD and LL kool Jay
Will do fam 💯
Are these factory workers!!!!!! LMAO!!
In the video their suppose to be like Monks or a Hip Hop Cult their underground in the sewers
Late To The Reaction Prsp But You Just Reacted Too One Of If Not The Best Hip Hop Song Of 89 💯💯 Aye Prs you gotta listen to Rampage By EPMD ft LL Cool J 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
All good brotha, thank you for still supporting me! Will do fam, that sounds like an interesting collab 💯
You have to do a reaction to You gotta chill, Head Banger, I shot the sheriff. ERIC AND PARIS MAKING DOLLARS
Will do fam 💯
Review 'Get the Bozack' from the same album. You will probably recognize the backing and beat.
It’s the underground..that was their type of music. Das Efx was straight from the sewers. That’s what..
Erick and Parish Making Dollars = EPMD
NO these are not factory workers ...EPMD prided themselves on being underground with that hardcore gutter sound. They hated commercial rap and you'll find a lot of their videos underground in sewers, abandoned buildings, junkyards, etc.
Do Strictly Business
Erik and parris making dollars epmd
How we sound like the R ( Rakim)
Thank you for explaining the few lines that went over my head, I appreciate it 💯
Eric and Parrish making dollars
Damn I'm old
jerked=screwed over by the music industry
Yo you have to learn slang if you going to review hip hop especially old school.
No respect in 87
88 you kneel.
First coming out they
Where accused of biting Rakim style.
Blow up in 88 silenced
The haters.
That’s facts, it’s just a different time so the slang is totally different but I’m learning as I react.
They from the gutter or sewer
Are they factory workers or something🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
