China has invested heavily in Europe. Not everyone’s convinced it was a good idea

  • China has invested heavily in Europe, particularly in the wake of the global financial crisis of 2008 when the region was strapped for cash.
This means that Chinese firms are now shareholders in many key European infrastructure projects. These include ports, wind and solar farms, telecommunications, airports - the list goes on.
But there are growing fears that Beijing could use its strategic investments to further its own political ambitions. A recent dispute between the Baltic nation of Lithuania and Beijing shed light on potential reactions from China.
It’s led European governments to step up their scrutiny of Chinese investments and attempt to figure out how to redesign their relationship with Beijing.
Dr Yu Jie from Chatham House told CNBC that we’re going to see more frictions regarding Chinese investment in Europe looking ahead.
Watch the video above to find out more.

That's because when western nations use economic sanctions, they do it for "human rights". Just like when they bomb middle east, it's always for "human rights". Yes, you heard it right, western nations use bombs for "human rights". When other nations do it, it's "genocide" or "war crimes. Not when they do it. When China and other non western nation use economic sanctions, it's not for "human rights" it's to "coerce".

Begitu dirasakan menguntungkan China timbul rasa irihati Eropa dan mulai dimainkan alasan klasik seperti faktor keamanan, kepemilikan yg menyusut dinegara sendiri.

In no way shape or form has our government or investigation into the matter claimed America is responsible. I am not sure why you would make such a claim, I mean we can all guess but that would be your own guess. So far there has not been any evidence pointing either way.
There is a story circling around that some Ukrainians had hired a boat around the time and traces of explosives were found on it but that's from an anonymous German source and the Swedish government has said it have no such information so it's hard to say if it's real or just Russian attempts to shift blame to Ukraine for the explosions.
I am not sure what a UN investigation would change to me it sound like a political ploy, my country Sweden, Denmark and Germany are already conducting investigations into it since it happened on our territory regardless of the political game being played in the UN.

Regarding the Lithuanian section, if they made the unusual decision to recognize Catalonia's right to independence and open diplomatic offices, they would face similar responses. The natural tendency of the countries that were part of the USSR to over-act and make emotional decisions to prove/show that they exist is very risky.

North American countries and EU countries own assets and real estate (farm land, commercial buildings, etc) in each others' countries. All these western countries maintain very similar political systems and similar rule of law. The big difference between China and all these western countries is their political ideologies. Anyone not looking deeper in to this issue lacks critical thinking.

It's also the seperation of power, the fact that trump did no more damage than he did is a testiment to an existing balance of power in america.
China however has been sable rattling and is unlike other peaceful nations.
The things they are coercing openly like punishing people for talking about hong kong, completely absorbing it, their parallel chinese internet with censorship and control. It's a dystopia we'd all like to avoid.
There's no cost to freedom compared to tyranny, and it's a subtle thing, but a freer system is just much more what we strive for, more fairness, more letting each other be happy the way we want to live, being able to say something about things that are going wrong, without being persecuted.
