    I figured probably in the range of 250-300. And, as I figured, a huge chunk of that is just the boots. Probably why so many indy performers settle for boxing/wrestling shoes from a sporting goods shop rather than purpose made "pro-wrestling" footwear, especially early in their career when they are perhaps uncertain if this is going to be a career path or a "once every month or three" side hustle mainly for fun.

    For info y'all : *these basic 16 inches tall boots have up to 14 lacing holes per side, and the default laces for these boots are 126in/3m20 long* , despite offering lots of length. You can go with 118in/3m laces too, at the cost of less surplus length to tie them up, which allows you to pick four pairs of 60in/1m50 laces (two per boot) at your local store and glue + thermosheath them , this glued side naturally at the base of your boots. Avoid using strap to tie the two laces in though : the strap melts when locking the thermosheath in place.
    I'm about to try with pairs of 47in/1m20 long, i'll edit the results in.
    For shorter boots, obviously, reduce the needed length in proportion.
    Useful info if you want some custom laces or using lock laces for creativity and custom patterns.

    • @TilWeMakeIt
      @TilWeMakeIt  Před 8 měsíci

      Most wrestling boot makers can put whatever sole you want on the boot, provided you can allow time for them to do so. Is it a rush job, or you can wait a bit?

    Honestly I’d swap the basic bikers out with a pair from a sporting goods store just so you have better sizing options and can try them on in most cases. This seems best until you can get measured and go custom. This would also give you the option to go with an amateur wrestling style singlet instead. Being able to try stuff on/get fitted by an expert in sporting goods is worth the small jump in price imo. Very few things make you look more like a scrub in wrestling than ill fitting gear you are constantly having to fiddle with in ring. Man the amount of guys wearing tights that are so baggy they look like sweat pants lol.

    • @TilWeMakeIt
      @TilWeMakeIt  Před 8 měsíci

      Ah, this is an intriguing option! Any clue what you'd pay for a pair of bikers if you bought them at retail?

  • @shadowvash07
    @shadowvash07 Před 8 měsíci

    That's right about what I expected, I figured boots were around 200. What I'd be more concerned about as far as boots and knee/arm pads is: how good a quality are they? No sense in buying 200 dollar plus boots or 50 dollar pass when they crap out on you in 5 matches or less.

    • @TilWeMakeIt
      @TilWeMakeIt  Před 8 měsíci +2

      You're making a good point. I've bought 2 pairs of boots from Highspots over the years, and I would say on average, I get 100 - 125 matches out of them before they are in need of repair (usually they need a new sole put on them.) If you wrestle lots of outdoor shows, or hardcore matches...that number probably drops to 75 matches.

    • @shadowvash07
      @shadowvash07 Před 8 měsíci

      @TilWeMakeIt great to know! I'm getting closer to getting my first match, so ill need to invest in gear soon. I know boots are pretty key, so it's good to know Highspots makes a quality boot. My next purchase will probably be tights/pants, any recommendations?

    Damn I feel called out about getting those specific Amazon singlets! Although my plan is to have some of my spare ones altered into something actually more proper-looking before I actually need it for real (including getting the company logo removed). It helps that someone at my school makes and edits gear. Also, I've spent a few hundred on boots made for me specifically, so I didn't cheap out there. I actually ended up spending more on just my boots than you did for the entire outfit here!

      @@TilWeMakeIt I was recommended to get in contact with Steve the Shoe Man from Australia. I could tell he must've been legit because his website layout is HORRIBLE, which means he must do good work to have people recommending him anyway! It was a basic black leather. $250 for the boots, then the rest of the money was shipping from Australia. They're really nice. They have a comfortable velvet on the inside and he did a great job getting them to my kind of awkwardly wide shoe size. Nice sturdy hard rubber sole on the bottom, too.
