Great video! I always wondered what their first figure was. I remember the first time I heard of them was their original Dark Knight Joker and Batman announcement and how I didn't realize I was looking at figures at first, which is pretty crazy considering they're so much more life-like now. Back then I remember mostly seeing their military stuff when I tried to find more figures, with a few other licensed anime figures. Actually, my first Hot Toys figure, which I got even before the Joker was an all metal die cast Astro Boy that they did as an event exclusive and is still one of the highlights of my collection even though it's more of a 1/12 figure.

Great video, this hobby is so addictive, so many great figures out there, and always new figures coming out, it's so hard to stick to one theam.I only wish there was a hot toys convention in the UK where like minded people could meet and view figures.

when i bought a loose Kyle Reese off of eBay i had no idea that he was the first licensed figure from Hot Toys, I just knew it was Michael Beihn and that I wanted the figure for a western gun fighter kit bash 🤪. Thanks for the history, Will. I think my favorite part was that clip of Keko dancing. 😁

Dude, I absolutely love the Hot Toys I have, and I did enjoy the video but my criticism is it's not very unbiased for a history or an introduction for new folks! It's more like an informative advert lol.
Firstly I'd mention when you said they make "highly articulated, highly posable" figures, that could be misleading for new folks depending on the figure, because they tend to favour accuracy over posability, which they admit, and some figures can't move very much, even just simply due to their costume designs or due to the materials used, which new folks might not know.
I'd say too they do still implement a traditional assembly line to make so many figures each year, it's just a very skilled assembly line by super talented people as they have to do a lot by hand, but the sculpting is done before this stage normally.
I'd also add that, although some of the sculpting is absolutely amazing, it's still important to remember IGN covered Hot Toys recently because the Supergirl sculpt was so bad that we all lost our minds lol.
Lastly when you said Hot Toys introduced a "revolutionary new line" with the Artisan wool implantation system, that isn't really fair; although Hot Toys have revolutionised a lot in their time, it was InArt who were the ones to introduce the better rooted hair technology to mass production first, and Hot Toys joined in after, and apart from the hair the figures are the same as their other releases even down to still stubbornly using the same bad pleather material nobody likes lol.
What I do agree with is they have come a long way! I'm also very excited to see what they do next and I'm very happy they exist not just because of the figures I love so much but because of the community they've inspired which I enjoy every day. So here's to another 20 years of Hot Toys hopefully lol
