I like the fact you can actually pose this Spider-Man and leave it in the pose!!
In the comics, the suit does look like fabric and Pete doesn't assume its alien, so I have no problem with the fabric choice. It's faithful to what its adapting. Only more modern adaptions have a more gooey look to it. However, I think 2 things are holding it back:
1. Value. Wolvy came with a bit more and had silicone arms and three faceplates at $160. This spidey only has 2 swappable eye plates and some barebone accessories. I wouldn't have minded more eye plates, or an extra $20-30 to come with a comic Peter Parker headsculpt to justify the price.
2. The body is too skinny imo. If it's mimicking this cover, he should be wider. I think this is a doable simple fix they could do by release.
Overall, it clearly has a Spider-Man Tax on it, but unlike Tobey who was a bit overpriced, this won't be a must-have for collectors.

I am seeing a lot of people expressing their issue with the quality of materials, and I understand where they are coming from.
But although I have a number of HT Spideys (even 2 of the CMS015), I still feel that I should have a black suit since that and the classic suit were the Spiderman look when we were young. I don't like the slimey/gooey look of the HT symbiote one so I will pre-order this.
Peter mistook this initially as normal suit so it should look like a fabric. Later, he has been using the non-symbiote version of this suit (iirc, black cat gave it to him).
If Hono wants to improve this, I do remember this suit as having a blue sole and being much darker (maybe they can use those blackest black fabrics), but at the same time, bluish hue should be reflected where light hits it.
It feels weird that this is a little more expensive than hono Wolverine and Magneto (at least with the official distributor here).
P.S. it is ok to call it black suit - I really remember it being called that in comics too. Specially since that suit is not exclusive to the symbiote.
Can’t wait man. A Spider-Man that can pose! Great for hot toys to have different quality levels at different prices. And this one is cheaper and can pose! Let’s go

Aw man this was one of my first comic books that I bought as a kid. Nostalgia is kicking me in the nuts right now
This is a huge W for spider-man collectors. It has everything; poseability, longevity, bendable webs, removable lenses and headsculpt (it seems it can be separated from the body but still retains the fabric cover). This figure, as well as Hano line in general, is a lot more important than people give it credit for. Because this line is an “entry-level” HT is willing to experiment a lot more with new features and if it doesn’t work out they can justify it with a lower price point. And for those festures that do work they can implement them later in a higher end HT figures)
This is pretty cool and I love the fabric costume. Finally a Spidey without pleather. I wish Hot Toys proper and other 3rd party companies would use more fabric.

Looks good. I wish the proportions were exaggerated slightly more since it is the comic version.
I think sometimes collectors are suffering from comparing these figures to the standard in which they hold “Hot Toys” I mean these figures are 40-50% cheaper, I think it’s natural to expect a lower quality figure. (Cheap material, visible toe joints, less detailed paint apps, etc.) Also, I think if you were to have one of these Hono figures next to an actual Hot Toys figure, you’d very likely see that “entry level” quality that this brand is bringing to the table. I’m all for it, but it’s also very subjective as to how one wants to compare these to the main company in terms of quality vs affordability. 🤷🏻♂️
I wish they put that blue shiny look on the suit like the ATSV Miles Morales that's coming out this year.

As a comment I read said, it looks more like the fabric black suit than the alien symbiote suit. It is only mislabeled. Maybe some subtle shading would make it even better.

Love that they're doing this but it has a very cheap feel to it, much more so than Wolvie and Magneto. It's giving mid 2000s Medicom RAH figure
For this scale figures need more details to look at.
This Spidy looks flat and bland.

Incredible news to wake up to. I was hoping for it without completely believing in it. It looks fantastic. I'm happy that people can get a slimy version whilst people who like fabric like me can get this one. I was looking forward to the official Mondo tv series announcement but this jointless figure might just be a happy middle. Thanks for the news and early video. 🕷🕸
As excited as I am for the possibility of Hono, wonder if Hot Toys will drop the Comic Masterpiece line, I think the last one they did was that Spidey with the pop up city and teeny tiny green goblin

Almost pulled the trigger on the PS5 Black Suit, but I’m glad I didn’t. This is perfect.
Will, technically I don’t think it’s accurate to call this “symbiont suit”.
At this point, on the Secret Wars it was just a black cloth suit, with the declared purpose of selling new toys.
Years latter, on a kind of retcon, Todd McFarlane made the suit a living being, that would become Venom when merged to Eddie Brock.
So, despite the minor “flaw” on the name, it’s 100% correct that this one looks like just a normal suit, and the one from the game has a completely different texture and fell, because that IN FACT is the symbiont.

Great points Will…I am not gonna lie, this HONO Spidey looks good, for collectors who want to pose the hell out of this figure…the price seems about what you would expect from 3rd party prices…I do expect more accessories without a head sculpt tho ….
It looks ok. Even though it is a cheaper offering I still think it looks TOO cheasp. No body definition at all and lack of overall detail. It's literally just a black morph suit with some white on it. Proportions just don't scream Spider-Man.
I think they could've done just a little bit more here - especially when you compare to the Wolverine and Magneto figures.

Fabric suit was actually a good choice. Both eyes options look so bulbous and the body they use is way too skinny for first appearance or todd mcfarlane designs.

You were right at the beginning I’m pretty sure the cloth suit is called black suit and the slimy look the PS5 spidey has is the actual symbiote suit and yeah I preordered him immediately as I’ve been dying for them to make a comic book version of the black suit/symbiote suit in 1/6th scale since I got into collecting so we’ll see how he looks in hand 🥸👍
It was an instant buy for me. It was exactly what I wanted when they announced the PS5 black suit variation and I’ll be happy to have em both tbh.
Edit*** - There is nothing entry level about these. Entry level figures are marvel legends, Hasbro in general. When you are looking at stuff this pricey, this is not entry level. This is getting into high priced collectibles.

@@WillFoxification what’s with the superiority of Hot Toys buyers? Just because something isn’t approaching $400 it’s gotta be called entry level or it’s only appealing to budget collectors. Puts such a bad taste in my mouth when influencers do that.

I am always for non marvel, Star wars or DC figures. Sadly that is what a majority are interested in getting. Happy for others, but that isn't for me anymore.

Pass. I do love the comic book symbiote Spider-Man, but there's alot of stuff that's putting me off on this figure. I was waiting for Hot Toys to make a comic version of this suit like the unlockable costume in the video game. I hate the fact that they didn't put their maximum effort into making this figure (pun intended).
Hono Studios is the new Medicom. I would be all over these if I still collected comic book versions of characters. I reserve that for Marvel Legends and McFarlane DC Multiverse.
Retail price doesn't seem to match well with this piece imo. Not too bad overall, but could be better.
This is great, i only bought HT movie versions because this didn't exist.
If you want cheaper go with a smaller scale.
1/6 is a luxurious scale.
For this scale figures have to have better details.
